@823 Brooklyn Loc That's a good question, my brother. Since I am from the Third/Fourth Generation, I will do my best to answer your query based on the knowledge conveyed to me. First off, our streets came out years later after the title, NEIGHBORHOOD, was established as our gang name. It actually started as a play thing between between two of my older homies, who were road dogs, one being from the 5 and the other being from the 11. Now, why these #s? These #s denote the first 3 #s in our 5# addressses. So that's where the 111/115 come from. In regards to the 5, homies chilled on 115TH, so that's why 115 became the street on my side. Now as for the 11, I really don't know why the 11 became the ruling #. But in general, why the whole HOOD is looked at as the 11UM, is because the 11 is bigger, they hit the jail system way before my OGs did, and because it was all the same in the early years, politic free, so 5 siders would just roll with the question, A homie you from 111? When I stated the 11 homies hitting the system before my OGs did, the 11s have homies in their mid 60s on up. My OGs from the 5 are just now hitting 60. I hope this claried your question, my brother.
