Stone carving is something I have been doing for about seven years. I am self-tau. Beforeore this I was a dry stone waller ften 10 years.
All the chisels I use are from Southern Stone, I have been using the company for 6 years and never had any problems.

I found this on fb and came to talk shit about nothing about the final product looks reclaimed but nicee ass tooling and the sample sounds like one my favorite bands song who i was listening to prior to this called fuck it by bumpin uglies.

I feel like I have just dodged a bullet. Thankfully I picked that song. I would love to have spent some real time on the swallow with more of a complete detailed carving, but the customers' budget and design dictated to me. But hopefully, in the future, I will get more time for details. I will definitely be adding some more Bumpin Uglies into my videos moving forward

thanks for another great video. just wondering is the outline of the swallow in a V shape or just an etched line? And did you paint it too?

Hi, thank you! Yes, the outline is V-shaped carving. It's a very simple carving, but when attached to the side of the building, it is very effective.

Just wondering, from what I've seen from your videos you work mostly with softer stone. Have you or do you work with granite? I am working with a piece of granite for a headstone. Also I've seen two methods of carving letters you work from the outline in but I've also seen from the middle out. Any advantages to either or disadvantages to either method? Thanks, I enjoy your videos! Hope your back gets better.

Firstly thank you for watching. Yes, I work with granite and hard local limestone, 99% of my work is dictated by my customers and their order. I also use Derbyshire stone, my local stone, and slate which have both been very popular these last 18 months for carvings. Carving from the outside, the reason I do it this way is that I am self-taught in my shed at the bottom of my garden some eight years back, and I just started that way and have carried on that way, and it works for me. I honestly don’t think one way is better than the other I think it’s what works best for you; I would say carving from the middle is the traditional way, so there will be more people doing it that way. You could say that is the right way I hope this helps Matty
