I've lived in a small rural community for most of my life, and the day after Halloween each year we do something called the pumpkin bash, where we attack all the pumpkins with weaponry ranging from the roman times to around the 15th century, A very good holiday tradition, I recommend it to all.

I feel like if I were to wear traditional 17th century clothing here in America I would get very weird looks, but there is something magically timeless about Scotland that makes it so I’ll bet no one bats an eyelid when he walks into town looking like that.

Halloween is a pagan tradition that has various forms across Europe. The Slavic and nordic nations still celebrate by giving votive gifts to their ancestors graves. Of course, the Anglosphere/Celtic celebrations have become utterly commodified and detached from the origins of ancestor worship and spirituality.
