Carving Thor's Hammer into an old fence post... 

Carving the Hammer of Thor into an old fence post that I made into a workbench.
I created the design based on an 8th century Swedish Mjölnir brooch.
The wood was really horrible to carve, fragile and prone to chipping as soon as you even looked at it. The video shows the first round of carving, I went over it a second time to deepen it being careful not to split out the delicate parts.
Ultimately it's given a coat of Danish oil to help protect the carving, bond all the fragile fibres together and to give it some future protection in the workshop.
