They're talking about the film Kiss the Girls which is a fairly exciting film with a decent twist at the end. Elwes' performance is rather harrowing but quite good.
This is 1997 so I imagine that even by this point he'd lived in the US for a good ten years. He's had to play an American in about 95% of films he's been in he'd have been using the accent a lot for work as well as just picking it up recreationally.
@@javieranguiano4654 No, he grew up in London. He was an altar boy at Westminster Cathedral and graduated from Harrow. He visited America with his American stepfather but he didn't grow up there. He was 18 when he moved to New York.

He’s been living in the US since he was 19 and has mostly done mostly American movies. Hence his accent. It’s pretty much hybrid. English and American mixed.
