He was a great actor. Love his work. His privacy should've been respected.

I don’t care about Grant’s personal life. I only judge him for his work as an actor. I think he was very talented but somewhat under appreciated.

Listen, Cary Grant rose from basically being an orphan, to being 1 of the most admired men on the planet, long before his death. I love this guy, & his movies helped get me through some pretty rough spots in my life. If he was bi-sexual,,,,,,???? Hardly, unheard of in the creative community. Several years ago, I saw a photograph of Cary Grant and Randolph Scott standing extremely close, both men were wearing frilly, monogrammed aprons, staring into the eyes of each other, leaving little doubt regarding their relationship. As Randolph Scott was a childhood hero of mine, it was quite a "jolt" to me.

I knew about Cary Grant but was surprised to hear about Randolph Scott didn’t know that

He was a classic bisexual whose one true love happened to be a man, Randolph Scott, himself also a bisexual. Of all the orientations one can have, authentic bisexuality is probably the most difficult to manage... even in 2023. I can't imagine how rough it must have been for two men to be so hopelessly in love with each other in the 1930s, each believing that it was wrong, that they could go to prison, or (if nothing else) that they could lose their careers and livelihoods. Similar fates awaited James Dean, Montgomery Clift, and Rock Hudson a couple of decades later. Yes, it's not really anyone's business, but slandering those who have spoken up about it over the years is also not fair either. We've learned a lot about classic Hollywood from those who moved in their circles, and the only time anyone gets "upset" is when one of them is "outed." So yeah... so what... he was bi and he had a love-affair with another actor. If anything, we should feel badly for what they had to endure... not for the fact that they were outed.

Hello again Facts Verse 👋 I have always been a huge fan of Cary Grant and would watch his movies with my mom (RIP). I actually own his autobiography and found out so much about him. My favorite movies are North By Northwest, Bringing Up Baby and An Affair To Remember. I remember being really shocked when I found out that he was having affairs with other men. WoW I can’t believe that he was abusive and a heavy drinker. Of course I might have read that in his book and just forgot about it. I was more surprised to hear about Randolph Scott. He was a wonderful actor. And from what I know his mom was from NC and was not married. And that is why he was born in Va. Scott is buried in Charlotte NC

The first picture when Orry-kelly is mentioned is of Billy Haines, gay star at MGM in the 20's

He was a private, professional person. He was dealing with how he should be being a leading person in Hollywood. The studios wanted him to keep his personal preference hidden. He tried to handle his struggles with LSD, but honestly he was working through his struggles the best was he could. His Daughter was his pride and joy and found peace with that, leaving Hollywood behind and was a successful businessman too through his life. There won’t be another Cary Grant and I will miss him always. Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin and other greats left a mark in Hollywood that never be duplicated again. The 30’s to the 60’s was historically ground breaking on many levels! Saddened video to watch. Sexual preference shouldn’t matter!

I think it is obvious that Randolph Scott was the love of his life, and it is tragic that the studio wanted to separate them. However, for him to be a leading man, the public could not know the truth. It was just as sad for Randolph Scott as it was for Cary Grant, and fortunately today, people like Ricky Martin can live openly as who they are. It is still more difficult for actors than it is for singers. Richard Chamberlain, Rock Hudson, and Tab Hunter never came out during their careers because they were leading men (like Cary Grant) and therefore had to remain in the closet for work. I believe that this comes with the territory.

He was a true beauty in his youth and talented and he knew how to utilize those those talents for his own benefit. No fault or judgment to Cary. A person needs to do what they need to do to survive in the world. Especially during those times. But I do not have any compassion for for him because he himself made those decisions in his life journey. And they were all very self serving he seemed to be very narcissistic and extremely self centered in all of his relationships and the collateral damage he left in his wake of his multiple marriages and also male relationships. He imprisoned himself with his own self loathing that is and that is truly sad. I feel more empathy for Chevy Chase who had to endure the court costs for defending himself for something that he had believed to be very true (allegedly) 😉 and we all really knew was very true. And The way one of his ex wives he had a daughter with continue to perpetuate the homophobia is simply not right and irresponsible. There is no shame in one's sexual spectrum, But deny it or concealment of it well after the point of necessity is shameful. At least through his long life he did have a few years of true happiness and was able to live an authentic life with someone who I'm sure truly loved him for all the right reasons. RIP Cary 🙄

I knew about Cary Grant and his gay side from a recent biography I read. I think he had a relationship with Randolph Scott and a close friendship afterward. Perhaps Cary was bisexual since was married and had children. Even though he lived in the beginnings of homosexuality being better accepted, I don't think he would have came out as a lot of older closeted actors didn't. He and Randy definitely were very closed when they both made MY FAVORITE WIFE with Irene Dunne. His marriage to Barbara Hutton was a marriage of appearance since they weren't married very long. He was a very versatile actor.

The reason that he distsnced himself from Ori Kelly was due to the fact that Kelly was super feminine, whereas Randolph Scott was masculine. Kelly and Grant were both bottoms, and two bottoms need a top which Grant found with Scott!
