In one of your shorts you stated that the little hand pump for priming can damage the starter, how so?

Great video, would you suggest owner ops doing it by themselves? Would you be able to sell like a written instructions with any tips?

You could certainly do your PM yourself as owner op and save some money. But if you let a professional do it, they will likely spot other things in need of repair that the owner may miss.

You don’t drain all the fuel out the water separator?

Depending on if there is any shavings/dirt down there. The water is usually at the bottom so the first couple seconds of draining is where all the water is at.

Well we definitely inspect the entire truck during every oil change. I usually have two other guys doing that while I’m doing the primary work. Thanks for commenting

Recently changed my transmission oil the shop ordered and OTR transmission oil for my d12 2016 Cascadia i asked them why you didn't order the Detroit they said we have been putting these to people's truck all the time none them had bad transmission. i called freightliner to ask the price for a bucket of Detroit transmission oil they said 570$ so i also went with the after market that the shop recommended me which was 180 a bucket OTR Transmission full Oil synthetic from fleetPride. Is it ok or do i have to do the next transmission oil change early and put Detroit in it?

@@adamotak5145 I do not recommend the otr oil We had a fleet owner that blew a differential and a transmission on a newer truck, all because of cheap oil

@@bigwigdiesel2237 Damn then i am goin to do an early transmission oil and differentials change, my truck is not new tho its 2016 and has 700k miles. what's the transmission and differential oil change interval so i am make sure to do it way early than that and put OEM Detroit oil next time in my transmission

We do it every oil change, to every 3. That money saved on every 150 hits back with interest if something were to go wrong.

@KIJYOPSO maybe thats Detroits plan lol, but my shop follows OEM recommendations to letter. Its programmed as supplements by mileage so if we do it early we have to explain why in the system🤷🏾‍♂️

@adamotak5145 doesn't hurt anything but your pockets lol. We have short pm intervals because we lease/rent trucks out.. none of our trucks are older than 5 years. Oil gets changed every 6 months or every 10k-25k max.

I WISH it took me only 15 minutes to change the oil and fuel filters and what not. I do get er done in about 45 minutes not counting the down time of running the truck and then let the oil settle. Feels like it takes longer to grease the trucks though😂
