Love the video bro. Awesome work, I work at Freightliner and you have taught me more in 2 months than I have learned in 25 years lol. you are actually teaching me the interworking of the different components. Again thanks
Appreciate the positive feedback. You know I can’t do it without support from viewers like you. I hope this content is viewed as relative, real, and relatable. Thanks for watching and don’t forget these vids came make great bday presents.
Great video! Thanks for the tips. Been a Diesel technician for 3 months and when I first dropped one of these pans took me about 4 hours 🤦🏽♂️ such a pain.
Thanks for watching and reaching out. Those pans can sure be a pain and man are they messy. But with a few top secrets tips you’ll be getting them done in a hour. Stay safe out there and pass out these videos for bday gifts.
Great video, would suggest some thing about the front bumper drag at the beginning. But great work I admire and thanks for taking the time to show us the people interested on gaining knowledge
Thanks for reaching out. When the Pans are notorious for leaking in the same spots you learn what’s best for the customer. If we didn’t put it down it would guarantee leak in a short time.
I just found this video because i did the job and didnt use gasket maker around the corners and its leaking. Gonna do it again tomorrow with the gasket maker so thanks for that tip!@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228
Hello again. I found a dd15 engine leaking oil. There's oil in the front bottom of the pan, around the oil pan gasket, and there's evidence of oil in the front lower part of the engine. Is the front crank seal leaking you think? How big of a job is changing the crank seal? Do you have to take the radiator out to do it? Really appreciate the help. Thanks. Also, is there a manual (step by step) instructions on how to fix and diagnose dd15 engines specifically?
Thanks for reaching out. I believe I have a video on that crank seal but you would need a special tool of that’s the case. I like to look on the p/s of the engine and shine a light behind the harmonic balencer. If there’s oil present there than you know either your crank seal or front cover seal is leaking. If none there than your safe to do a pan seal replacement.
Thanks for watching man. Don’t forget pass on the videos to all your peeps. You don’t have to prime the oil system unless you do an oil coolant module or and oil suction manifold. Reason being with those two the oil leaves the main bearings channel in the block.
What kind of bottle jacks are you using ? I bought two 2 ton mom jacks to open the leafs springs a little bit more to fit a 20 ton jack , one for each side , kind of feel like it is slowing me down … I’m thinking of going to with two 5t with pneumatic
I live in Maine and I use a truck mechanic in New Hampshire. I have a 2016 Cascadia with a oil pan in the top right front corner. They just told me it’s a 8 hour job to drop the pan and fix the leak. Is this correct? Nice video!
that was good man. i have to do an oil pan tomorrow and i feel better about it now. thanks. so you don’t stretch out frame until pan has been unbolted from engine? what if i don’t have 2 bottle jacks?
The frame will need to be stretched with bottle jacks or If you have tall jacks to put under the frame behind the leaf springs that’ll work to. As long as the spring hang the oil pan will come out. If not your gna fight it to much.
That’s dope. I post tripped my 2019 Cascadia Detroit DD engine, and notice the oil pan a bit saturated. Where are you located, so in the future I can come there and get mine replaced?
Unfortunately I do not have a shop of my own yet or one I can mention on here. But hopefully that’ll change soon and I do appreciate your support on this channel.
Great question, you can simply unscrew and pull them out. The bushings come on the new bolts so nothing to worry about there unless the gasket on the pan is leaking.
If there’s oil around the oil pan gasket just go ahead and replace it. Check those bolt bushing isolators while your there since they crack. As for the crank seal or front cover seal I have two videos for those as well.
@@victorsimeo9556 on and off could be just it cycling. Try it on a low blower speed setting and check again. Most common reasons for high cycling are very humid out, low charge, sticking txv.
Bro can those bolts back out over time if so what’s the torque speck n do you have a pic of how they sit when tight right in place mines just wet not not a big leak
Torque was something small like 28ft lbs. but I have not had one backed off yet. If it’s slightly wet, clean it all off and watch it after your next run. If ur wet again it’s time to change seal.
@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 thank you I did that last night I will juro an eye on it also clean around the back of anything the main rear seal it’s leaking or just the oil pan as only see wet it on the right side
Glad this video was able to come in handy hopefully more videos on this channel will do as well. Don’t forget these videos can make great birthday present for that someone special in your life as well.
Hi brother I have question if can answer it, I have a DD15 whit oil pan leaking, fist time gasket replacement was done at Freightliner dealer, and the leak did not stop, was a little leak, I decide to take it of again and I put new gasket and ultra gray silicone not Detroit brand, now is leaking even more , maybe I didn’t put enough silicone? or enough torque? What you suggest to do? My second question is, I would like to buster my engine to 455HP to 500HP this has to be done at Dealer only? or if some one have the Detroit link program can do it ? Thank you!
All good questions mam. Thanks for reaching out. for the hp upgrade anyone with diagnostic link software can do this. There also other options where people can custom tune your truck and you end up with better performance and hp so this would be a better alternative. as far as the oil pan. Its really easy to roll the gasket when installing and many people end up doing this. I like to put the new gasket on and than silicone like in my video than get two people to set it into place to ensure no issues with the gasket. After that i dont get anymore leaks, unless there coming from somewhere else like flywheel housing or front cover. Just ensure leaks aent coming form anywhere else. Hope that helps.
@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 I putting sure is just the oil pan thank very much! Have a great holiday, I love yours videos and you are very detailed on what you do! What Freightliner do you work for?
I know this is off topic but how do you diagnose a bad solenoid, fan clutch, temp sensor or fan clutch. The problem I'm having is the fan isn't kicking on and staying on until the temp drops to 200 or below. Trying to diagnose the problem without spending the rest of my savings. It appears it could be 1 of 4 things. Fan clutch, solenoid, temp sensor or thermostat .maybe you have seen this issue and can send me in the right direction. 2015 cascadia with the DD15
Great question man. If the engine coolant temp reaches 185 and higher than the thermostat is working. If the fan comes on at 225 and off at 200 than you know your fan is working fine. If u run the ac and the fan kicks on than you know your fan is working fine. If u unplug the fan solenoid and the fan locks on than you know the solenoid is working. Would you say it falls under one of those conditions.
@@truckingwithcliff correct, that would be the default setting. When the eng is off and fan solenoid plugged in fan should be free,,unplugged and it should be locked in place. If that’s the case than it’s working good.
Good question, you do not have to prime the oil system if your just doing the oil pan. If you drop the oil pump while your there than yes for sure prime the system. Which there’s another video on.
@@MrTylerspad good question. This would be slightly different oil pan but the idea of removal is the same. After watching this you should be able to handle an older model as the older ones were much Easier.
3 hours , im in freightliner chandler arizona and i already had more than 10 hours and no one is doing anything to my truck and need to replace the oill pan
Man I’m sorry to hear that. Could be many factors involved though. As long as the communication is open between you and the service writer they should be able to make things right and keep you at ease. From what I know about that location and velocity group there pretty impressive and take care of the customer. But as we all know it all comes down to communication. Hope they take care of you.
