Case 1394 Part 3 - Will it start? Budget Engine Repairs

This Case (David Brown) 1394 has sat outside for 10+ years with the exhaust wide open. With an engine completely full of water, is there any hope of making it start. With low compression, a quick and cheap rebuild is needed to have any hope of it firing.
Dave's Workshop - from classic cars to heavy machinery, brake rebuilds to engine swaps. More projects to follow.

Hello Dave what's the craic i am looking a mini digger not big money I think Agriline tractor parts or some big out fit should sponser you My TVO tractor the sump on the gearbox is cast or alloy i will try and do a video of it any tips how to repair the holes would be appreciated 👍😊🙏👌
@davesworkshop2714
@davesworkshop2714 11 месяцев назад
Hey, hope all is well! Unfortunately any old scrap seems to be making money these days as diggers go. I wouldnt know where to start with the sump, unless there's some kind of chemical metal that would fit it,size of the hole dependant. Id imagine there must be used sumps out there for reasonable money.

Hi Dave, I'm., from the U S .I ha ve a 1490 case/ david brown, 81 model. I want to thank you for the videos on the 139 since it has the same engine and as far as I can tell everything is practicaly the same onboth tractors. Any way I just wanted to say thanks for the videos on this particular tractor as I don't see many videos on these tractors

Thank you for watching John! I think there's really not much difference in a lot of David Brown engines. They seem to be pretty simple and robust luckily. I'll try and find some more to work on for the channel. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

Fair play to you Dave. Great determination and patience. Well done in getting much improved compression and talking us on that journey with you. But most of l really appreciate you highlighting your mistake with the diesel lines to the injectors. Takes a real man to own that. A simple mistake that anyone could make. Looking forward to seeing your future videos. Very interesting video material. Take Care 👍👍👍🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
@davesworkshop2714
@davesworkshop2714 11 месяцев назад
Phillip, that's very much appreciated. It's always great when people get value out of the videos. I thought it was important to highlight the mistake because you'd imagine it couldn't happen, and it might help someone out in the future. Also interesting to see what an engine does with mixed up injector lines. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. I'll try and find something even rougher soon 😅😅

Barry's video got me a little bit confused, actually it seems they are included in head gasket sets. I'm in france, so I'm ordering online, and most resellers don't even mention the brandt. I guess I'll have to order a set and see what I get... Any chance we get a video about restoring on the cheap a rusty/seized turbo like the one you got there? (I don't even know if that's possible) edit: I just dropped and cleaned the head (damn that thing is heavy!), there's no seal on any valve stem, so problem solved :)
