DESCRIPTION
On March 9 2001, 43-year-old Bernd Brandes disappeared from his home in Berlin, Germany. The well respected and highly intelligent computer engineer’s absence was extremely out of character for those who knew him but investigations into his whereabouts proved unsuccessful.

I love that your voice stays an even tone and pitch throughout the podcast. You don't go up and down and your voice is so easy to listen to. Its calming and not distracting at all. BEST IS NO ANNOYING BACKGROUND MUSIC AND YOU DO THE AD. I love that there isn't a hundred ads and i thank you for that. Please don't ever change this perfect show! We love and appreciate your work. THANK YOU

@Casefile - would it be possible to include more detailed episode text descriptions /synopses? Having them just be the first sentence or two of the actual episode doesn't help tell me what I'm signing up for. Knowing this episode is about cannibalism would have been useful ahead of time. Thanks! :)

I feel like the only one who thinks that these two adults should be allowed to legally do whatever they want to each other with proper consent. It bothers me that people feel the need to punish others out of disgust or not being able to understand why they did something like this.

"Wild pig meat." Yea... he had wild meat of the long pig variety It might be me but I just can't get over the way he says that. I just visualize the suspect saying it exactly like that when the police are interrogating him and it gets a laugh out of me every time. The deadpan way he says it with the accent makes it sound really cool. lol Gruesome case, but a funny tidbit.

I've done alot of research into this case earlier this evening and it's made me realise that there are a TON of inaccuracies in this version of the case. No mention of the fact that Armin and Bernd had sex before his penis was cut off, when they couldn't eat the cooked penis it wasn't thrown in a bucket as 'waste', but chopped up and fed to Armin's dog. There are more but these are just a couple of examples
@Starae336
@Starae336 Год назад
I wondered what had happened to the sex part? I read a book about this case I think it was the one mentioned “cannibal” it’s definitely worth the read and full of a lot more details than this sub par podcast dictates.

Omg what an extremely disturbing case one of the worst I have ever heard. The brothers Grimm were definitely a bunch of nut cases. Their stories written were never happy ones which makes me wonder about their mental state. Very bizarre. The Grimm surname fits their storytelling very grim indeed. I will not be reading their stories to my lovely granddaughter No way. Their books should be banned for young children as of now
@tis_mar_al4600
@tis_mar_al4600 2 года назад
I am sorry but this is very... incorrect? First, the brothers Grimm didn't actually write the tales, they collected them from folklore. Most of these stories, like almost all of them, do have a happy ending (Hansel & Gretel included, Gretel outsmarts the witch and defeats her, frees her brother and they find their way back home and live happy ever after). Grimm brothers made fairytales like Rapunzel, Cinderella and Snow-White public. It is true that a lot of these tales have dark parts, and modern adaptions usually are less dark, but to say that they are inherently bizarre and written by a bunch of nut cases is... a stretch.
@everibarovski7963
@everibarovski7963 2 года назад
@@tis_mar_al4600 I am still sticking to my story about the Grimm brothers. I was never interested in their stories Complete lunatics especially when using witches as a tool to frighten children. During mediaeval times if a woman was suspected of being a witch she was arrested and burned to death. This was corruption by the church who used women as an excuse if something went wrong she was a target. For hundreds of years this was the practice of men against women who lived alone and were really the most knowledgeable women they knew and studied about the natural world and I would go strongly to say they knew a lot about plants and their medicinal properties they were chemists. They were natureopaths. A woman's story was never written down only word of mouth because women never had the opportunity to learn to read and write but the women who lived alone with animals and studied them and nature they were very learned women they found a way to keep their exciting observations and knew how to read and write in their own language. They were women doctors. But how dare I say that. Well I did that's what the women were knowledge was for everyone they were ahead of their time Give them the respect they deserve. God bless those brilliant women. And history a disgrace for what they did to those brilliant women What a horrendous loss.
@Vexarax
@Vexarax 2 года назад
Grimm's weren't actually _too_ bad, considering what the originals they were adapting their stories from were like. Grimm's toned the originals down a _lot._ I grew up listening to Grimm's fairy tales (the originals) and Hans Andersen's too. When I was little I'd listen to them on cassette every night as I fell asleep, even the crazier ones like One Eye, Two Eye, Three Eye, and the original Little Mermaid (very violent) . The stories didn't mess me up at all, but gave me a really great imagination and I'm literally always curious to learn the deeper meaning of things. I always wonder if I didn't listen to Grimm's and Hans Christian Andersen if my brain would have just developed differently - more content to just accept things as they are without wanting to learn all about them - I'd find that so boring! :)
@everibarovski7963
@everibarovski7963 2 года назад
@@Vexarax still not interested in fairytales nasty stories If this guy was reading the brothers Grimm fairytales and look what he turned into a cannibal seriously. Let's not get of the track that this monster cut up his friend and eat his flesh omg Perverse evil. Hope he rots in jail. I never read fairytales when I was little. I like stories with a moral but not about women being witches which was bullshit and were burned to death. I was not brought up to fear witches never believed in bad witches. I am an educated person but the brothers Grimm were a bunch of idiots. Horrible stories.
@Vexarax
@Vexarax 2 года назад
@@everibarovski7963 - always interesting to read other people's opinions, no matter how vehemently I disagree. I personally have never feared witches (I have always been fascinated by the history of religious persecution against the innocents _accused_ of being witches though, which Grimm's also make a point of illustrating) and have a preference for a vegetarian diet as meat sits too heavily in my stomach - despite having grown up listening to Grimm's fairytales, and ones much more violent than Hansel and Gretel which is tame compared to some of them. I have even made a fair amount of money recounting these fairytales for modern audiences in articles for educational websites online. As usual, it's more a case of this person having been drawn to such tales because he already had that inclination within him. Whereas someone without that inclination can read them without being affected negatively by them at all, same with violent movies, videogames, anything really. :)
