I'm about 70% on a total restoration of a case 155. A TON of work but I already know this thing is a beast, with a low speed selector. It will be my go to grass cutter. Thanks for the encouagement.
Thanks for saving a awesome garden tractor. Try to figure out how to get a fan to cool the hydrolic cooler or it's going to overheat and blow seals out. You are doing great.
I love to see another classic garden tractor kept alive and running! I just purchased a 420cc Predator for my Bolens G10. I could have easily spent the same amount of money to refurb the original Briggs and it would have taken a lot of time.
Thanks for the great video! Loves seeing an old 446 running with a different motor. In regards to your high gear or no benefit of over 50% throttle, what fluid are you using for your hydraulic system? Those old Case tractors really like 30w motor oil for the hydraulic fluid. If you use a heavier "hydraulic oil", you will get the exact symptoms you describes.. I try to use Rotella 30W when I can find it, otherwise any will do. Good luck!
I'm not a fan of Kohler, also wanted something reliable to just pull start and go. No need for a battery. I currently have around 25 of these engines in tractors and they never have any problems and are reliable compared to my machines with original or old engines.
The K series engine design is 63 years old and is antiquated by any standard. The engine on this tractor is clearly worn out. I wouldn't have wasted time or money trying to bring it back from the dead, either.
At the end you were talking about the engine just making more noise with less speed increase. I just wanted to chime in and say that my case 448 with the bigger onan 18 in it does the same thing. Half throttle seems to max out the pump. I have heard of others putting bigger pumps in but i dont know how well that would work. Cheers and keep up the great work!!
