Contrary to other feedback, I think for "real" bike riders who venture through heavy rains storms and especially mountain bikers, the matching Poncho works real good to stop dirt entering the top seam around the Quad Lock case. Yes modern phones come fairly waterproof with IP68 ratings but the wear and tear on the expected phone life span is significant. The purchase of a Poncho over the live of phone is a practical and good value way to get the best out of your phone!
I bought the case as a package for £90. The Samsung case is brilliant. Buttons are a bit stiff but I can live with that. The mount ( I have motorcycle and bicycle options) are really good. No movement, very secure. The poncho. Ah the poncho. Now that's a piece of crap. First of all it makes your screen inoperable. Secondly the poncho comes with a disclaimer that it's not waterproof and to use judgement while using in rain. Third, while it's on bike bars and you don't have mudguards your going to get mud spray hitting your camera. I bought a waterproof case from decathlon and cut a circle in the back. This gives a much higher level of protection. I have riden in reel downpours and my phone has been dry and fine.
Great review. I too got the poncho as well and was initially frustrated by the complete lack of ability to use the touch screen while using both screen protector and the poncho. However it turns out there's a setting in Android that you can turn on to make your phone usable again! Hope it helps :) Settings > Display/Advanced Features > Touch Sensitivity/Screen Protector Mode
I bought the case and lock recently but didn’t get the poncho. I was thinking I perhaps should have got it but having watched your video I think I made the right choice. My phone is waterproof and I rarely cycle in rain, so worst case I’ll just store my phone if the weather gets really bad when out.
I use my phone as a satnav on a quadlock whilst riding a motorbike and if rain hits the screen it will sometimes stop navigating and open a menu. On a back road thats not an issue mut on the motorway in pouring rain its a big issue so the poncho has a use. you could easily cut the button area out if you need to
Other issues w the Poncho on my iPhone: it doesn’t work well with polarized sunglasses in my experience. The display becomes mottled with shadows and rainbow effects. Also Face ID which relies on the front camera no longer works so unlocking the phone becomes tedious. Touch screen still works for me but I don’t use an additional screen protector.
I guess the poncho would be useful if you were just wanting to keep it safe but not being able to use the touchpad kind of negates it's usefulness IMO.
Doing food delivery in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 the poncho is not great to accept orders. I feel like bolting on a dry box to the universal mount but the advert said not compatible with wireless charging but quad lock do the wireless charger 🔌, why not would that charge wirelessly if I did that?
