You need a surface cleaner for your pressure washer. It would save you a ton of time instead of the turbo nozzle.

I’m 62 years old and have just recently started following you! Your farm your yard your parlor an entire operation is neat clean and organized cannot tell you how happy it makes me as an older adult to see quality workmanship. Can tell that you all take pride in your farm, something missing in the world today.

Hey Jan - I visited my friend's dairy farm and they were impressed with how much I knew about the operation and could pronounce DeLaval properly!!! Thanks for all the great videos!!! They milk 1100 head and have another 1000 head on site - LOTS OF COWS!!! Hopefully your baling prospect pays off for you. Happy that manure wagon didn't separate on the road. The new feed mill is looking nice!!!

Thanks Jan for another great video. The trouble with the hitch and almost damaging a bin could have been a whole lot worse. Some one is watching out for you and your family. You are one hard working young man. I really miss being on the farm; you let me re-live that life with each video. Thank you for that. God Bless you.

If you put two posts into the ground in front, 20-30 feet or so, of the feed alley way and then visually align the posts as you drive through you will always be centered when driving anything through. I would also make sure that you have good drainage to limit the amount of collected water!

Pressure washing will also polish a concrete surface over time wile cleaning that bio-film stuff off so it's not an ideal solution. I'm surprised a specific aggregate for non-slip render was not selected for all the cattle area floors top finish.

I wonder if you could chlorinate the recycle flush water tank? That might help bacteria bloom and save the labor of fire hosing.

I have a "cheap" idea... If you have the barrier, to use it to move the cows in the parler to be milking, you can install a sprinkler system that uses high water pressure to clean the wait area, moving the barrier from the back to the front, more easy and you don't need to spend time using fire hoses. Greetings from Spain.

Put the loader through the same path as the feed wagon under the augers on the bins. U will have to get the loader through there to clear snow.

Sorry to hear you are having to resort to hauling bales but obviously your Dad had a plan. I can remember a few years back bales being trucked between Saskatchewan and Ontario as well. When you ground those bolt heads off I was thinking you are going to have to lift those legs off the stud but I guess you found that out the hard way. Glad it worked out for you.

We've had drawbar pins seize up in as little as a year of material builds up on top of the pin. Happened to 2-magnum 250's this year. Last time we had to pull the bracket off and have it pressed out. That bolt does not have any force on it, simply a keeper bolt for the main pin. Take a look at the condition of the pin to see if it is sloppy in the casting and moving around, applying force to the keeper bolt.

Excellent video Jan! Good thing you noticed the feed auger clearance now. Repositioning the bins would have been a lot more difficult in the winter. Caught the hitch problem just in time too. Always impressed with your thoughts to keep your animals safe, healthy and happy. Good idea for the cleaning. I wonder if a little bit of lime dust would help, and/or increased ventilation to dry the floor completely between milking. Sorry you had some troubles. Thanks for the video!

One word for the slippery floor problem, bleach. Fill a hand sprayer with a 50/50 bleach/water mix and spray down the floor and let sit for a bit. Then a light hose down afterwards.
@0xFF48
@0xFF48 2 года назад
I thought about that too. Low pressure sanitizer hose down. Commercially using bleach has some potential for creating toxic gases if it mixes with acidic cleaners. Non bleach sanitizers but then the issue is chemical costs with cleaning twice a day. Maybe a surface cleaner pressure washer once a week or so. Or even a fan nozzle

Doing concrete work we used real high pressure (up to 30000 psi) to cut the finish off concrete. Left a finish it like sand. I don't know if that would work for you or not.

The Jack is hard to turn when the wagons full. Lol some times obvious make people laugh. Well It did for me. The holding area might be getting from sand on the cows feet. They might be like sanding black over time. Maybe a rubber floor by the parlor end might be something to try. It guess cow like to be a rubber more and that is where the cows are standing the most. That might encourage the cows to walk ahead in the holding pen. I believe the 10 generation farmer put rubber floor in there holding area and parlor
