Nice to get some unwind time after all the silage you have put up. Hard to believe that all went through that harvester. You probably already have but I would have asked to test drive Austin’s old chevy. I restored one of those and ended up selling it a few years later, sure do miss it now.

The counterweight seems pretty simple to assemble. I’d probably have a go at making them myself with their cost! Use a section of a drawer slide for the rail weight assembly, two poly pulley wheels and a string and hook

Having spent my whole life around cows and milk I throughly enjoy your videos. I was brought up on a dairy farm. My father milked 45 Jersey cows. Because of the climate the cows were out side all year round. When I left school I worked in a dairy factory where butter was made in wooden churns. Over the years I have worked in cheese milk powder and bottling milk for domestic consumption also. So I have been around milk for a long time. It was a great industry to be involved in. Thought I would share this with you.

Hello Jan, yes that is a great pity when so much of the precious drinking water is lost as a result of such damage. We still had a good grain harvest. 150 km away the corn and sugar beets are 100% withered.

Those Ferris mowers are a design to behold. A mower built by an aerospace engineer with an unlimited budget and a cousin that owns a stainless mine. But wow, the price...

Hey there been following your channel for awhile now. Nice content it’s very informative. I was just wondering on average how many heads do you guys milk in a day. In total how many dairy cows do you keep and what’s is the average milk they produce in a daily basis? Are this full holstein friesian breed?

I watch another dairy farmer and they say that cows need the drinking water to be "warm". I forget what temp they keep it at. They said that it's best for the digestion and actually produces more milk. Have you heard about this?

We have the same milk line holders in our parlour they work amazing we only use ours on cows that have small teats or small utters so you don’t have to put all 24 on but they’re super handy and they don’t get in the way

I just learned this week that in Scotland they call canola, oil seed rape.

When you have something like a trough problem and the dung passage is flooded- why not scrape/push a small length of the shite and repeat, repeat until you reach the end of the passageway, rather than v slowly push a tidal wave of v wet sloppy shite and risk it getting up all over the girlies clean sandy beds???? Common sense to me??

As I see it you produce silage and grains which you feed to the cows. These then produces milk and manure. You return the manure to the land. With the milk being sold, how much extra feed and fertiliser and minerals do you have to buy in to balance the equation? I do love the way you Canadian folks use the word sweet.

I wonder why you mainly feed BS instead of CS. Does corn not produce a higher milk yield ? Or is the production of corn in your area too big a risk with lower temperature and drought and therefore a low yield ? I see that you also feed additional grain ( number of Silos plus new addition ) so milk production will be good but at a higher cost. No criticism just trying to understand
