This is the third video in a nine-part series in which I provide a step-by-step outline of how to bind a case-bound book. Case binding is the most widely-used form of contemporary bookbinding and is a good starting point for anyone who wants to learn how to bind or repair books.
These videos are intended for total beginners and also use the most basic of equipment, as I am aware that not everyone has access to formal bookbinding tuition and/or expensive equipment.
The videos in this series can be found at the links below.

Thank you for your videos... the only thing that is unfortunate is when you print pages (or use blank, e.g. letter) then fold in half for a larger book - it is usually against the grain. I have not found letter with the short grain. So not sure if you have any suggestion other than put up with the the book being against the grain??

I've been wondering the same thing, having just found these videos... I suppose having the same grain in the end pages as well at least might help a little bit, with having to resign oneself to it? Completely layman reasoning, this. 😅

Hi Annesi, thank you so much for making this series it's been very helpful in getting me more familiar with the project I want to take on! I have a question about creating the signatures though. I am going to be printing my signatures after formatting them digitally since I've written a story that I don't necessarily feel like publishing but want to have an Author's Copy of for my shelf. Would you recommend trimming my paper for the signatures before printing or after? Thank you in advance for any advice you may have!
