I'm trying to track which ones wrote which songs. The lead singers? Did they write them for this project? And the overall sound blends them all into something very personal to the three together. What magic.
Neko Case in a universe all her own; a very gifted human. Her voice is a wonderfully controlled blowtorch that stimulates my brain the right way.. Still have to tell myself this performance was live!
Wow!! These girls can sing!!! And the switching back and forth from lead to harmony was really a delight to listen to. And this their first ever concert as Case/Lang/Veirs makes it even more impressive. Plus the band just perfect. Awesome from beginning to end...
Neko was the one who led me into this record, she's been a long favourite of mine. But I discovered Laura Veirs through this record, so happy for that, her storytelling is so wonderful. Love her songs on this record!
Gotta love kd. She will harmonize in a second!! This was a brilliant choice. It has been such fun watching kd as a wild crazy country singer to the woman who can sing anything she wants today. I would love to hear her do an entire albumn/cd of blues.
I am moved to tears as I listen to these amazing women harmonize and then feature their own styles through a collection of fabulous songs. Has KD Lang ever sounded this good? The musicians are top notch. If I weren't so emotional about the whole thing I am sure there are tremendous musical intricacies going on all along...georgeous performances!
I shared a stage with k.d. when she was 17 and have followed her ever since, and I agree, I've never heard her pack more raw and delicate emotion into her lyrics...
With the greatest respect Moonwaves, you are talking balderdash, hogwash and piffle! I'm 64 and am constantly amazed by the volume and variety of good music being made by the young folks of today. Don't use top 40 pop or mainstream radio as a yardstick, look deeper...Have a splendid day!
Gorgeous! Laura Veirs is one of my favorite songwriters; I love seeing her get the recognition and respect from these two greats; killer band too. Loved "Greens of June" - so gorgeous it made me cry.
I love this angelic voice that kd has. I've never heard a more beautiful voice with that tone that takes your breath away. I could listen to her sing constantly.
Good Lord . . . I didn't know that they had done this. Three amazing artists at the peak of their powers showing amazing humility and respect for each other. Personally, I'm most in awe of Neko Case - I've loved her work for most of my adult life. But they're all amazing here and the backing band too. Wow!
It was KDs best ever performance in my book. I have followed her for ever, and this was such a relaxed state with the best talented people around this event
this is on a whole other level of Epicness....not matched often anymore.....Not sure why these aren't the songs being played on the top 40.....So much love for this whole album...

Crazy part....Neko has no training. All natural. She buries me and digs me out at the same time. Her voice takes me places I likely could never get to on my own. One of a kind, and difficult to describe. There's no genre for her, and she is for no genre. She's just....Neko. THAT is what I love about her.
@@williamtimmons1812 her voice is preternatural. But, what makes her so amazing is the words she writes. One of the great musical storytellers, hands down.
I hope to God a new generation will hear and appreciate the beautiful voices and music 🎶 and band that i am in awe of heaven sent the world needs to hear this
In the summer of 2016 I was on a business trip to US and was so fortunate to catch their live performance in Chicago. It was otherworldly experience...beautiful collaboration of three very unique souls and true artists. And hearing kd's voice live was and still is ineffable. So thankful for this🙏
I'm watching "Best Kept Secret" and listening to a song where K.D. Lang and Neko Case are on mere backing vocals. Astonishing, I couldn't love this more.
One of my favourite concerts of all time. So much power and beauty on those songs and their performances. The album they released together is on my permanent playlist.
Saw then in Denver and I must say this was one of the best concerts I have ever seen. It was inspiring, fun, and left me saying Wow over and over. Love the new stuff and also how they each had their own songs weaved into the show.
Wow! Blue Fires is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. The whole album is fantastic, as is this performance. Here's to hoping for another tour so I can experience this in person.
Just a heroic amount of work! It has been some time, since we have had spiritual poetry with such monumental orchestration.....THANK YOU! I have been hoping for this musical renaissance precedent!
They are all so good here ...I just wonder what it would be like for Veirs and Case , as great as they are, to stand up there and hear the amazing voice of kd lang coming out of the monitors...this is a wonderful concert...thanks so much for posting.
I've watched and listened to this performance at least 40 times. I find there is a truth and authenticity in the songs and the musicianship that is stunning. I actually find this live version better than the album, Mahr's keyboards are haunting and enchanting and Gruska drumming on Down I-5 is spectacular. I love the beauty they've created.
I saw the Brooklyn Prospect Park show. (beautiful place for a concert). It was one of the best live performances I have ever seen. The collective work from the recording was great and the performance by each of their own (dare I say "Hits") was equally incredible. Each of these women has her own unique talent/style which made the sum of the parts.....
Still one of my favorite collaborations. Fell in love with the album the first run through. Got to see them at the Greek in LA shortly after. Literally wept for the whole thing. And I’m not a weepy dude. My wife and I really bonded over this entire set of music and we had been together already for 6 years .
And on Guitar the guy with glasses is the fabulous JOHNNY SANGSTER, the brother of the YOUNG FRESH FELLOS Frontman Jim Sangster.Johnny had a very good danish/US Band which were brillant competitors to the Modern Lovers by Jonathan Richman or THE JAM or Small Faces or the Who in the 80s.. plaed ROSKILDE FESTIVAL then: their name was T H E S H A R I N G P A T R O L.. Check them out, on record and also on youtube!!
CSN for the new millennium. "We're really nervous cause this is our first... "offering"". lol. I wish these 3 would record a zillion hours of music. With this band. The boys are rockin' back there.
Beautiful - here are three women, normally solo artists, who created this beautiful piece of art. This project could have ended up as a simple stringing together of 3 different kind of songs, which just happened to be published on the same album. But though each singer puts forth her style and voice while the other two voices weave their harmonies around the vocal lead, every piece of music shows their/the individual voice as well as their common goal to mesh these songs into a beautiful und beautifully balanced whole. And as always I am falling for and into the voice of K.D. Lang...
The tour band seen here was superb. (I am not sure who played on the recording). Barbara Gruska (Belle brigade) is a wonderfully talented percussionist--she's not just a drummer! Her work on "Down (I-5)" sung by Neko is incredible.
Let’s not forget that sweetheart of a songwriter Laura. Such straightforward lyrics of truth and justice and love of simpler times… it’s like a tour into yesteryear. Found this concert in the middle of the covid pandemic. Thank you so much! It literally kept me moving into positive light
