Casey Kasem's Tragic Death - Why He's Buried 5,000 Miles from Home 

I met Casey and Jean at a dinner in LA, and she was just a horrid person. Casey was trying o talk to me and my wife about our radio careers and she was impatient and rude until she went over to tak to HER people and then she made Casey stand there with them and listen to their boring chat. And then she pulled him to leave the gathering and was rude to the valet about the driver's side window being down. Thank you for the video. I'm very heartbroken to see his small grave and that he's not where he wanted to be. She needs to give it up and give the children their father back.

This is what can happen when you marry a disingenuous person for reasons other than genuine, unadulterated love. My sincerest condolences to the Kasem sons and daughters.

His wife was an overbearingly rude, control freak. She verbally as well as mentally abused him. The kids were not allowed to see their father. What makes a person have so much hate? Hell has a special place for people like Jean. Casey was America's son. His wishes to be buried at Forest Lawn, should have been granted. I looked forward to Casey's Top 40 every week. Thank you, Mobile Instinct, for honoring Casey.

Bed sores happen when the person is not turned every 2-4 hours. I’m guessing he wasn’t taken care of properly.

The level of disrespect for him is just astounding. What an evil woman

After all these years she has not even honored him with a headstone - that speaks volumes. That is ridiculous and totally exposes her motivation and selfishness / narcissism in having him taken to that country for her own personal fulfillment in some way.

His poor children. Heartbreaking. My elderly father of 82 is marrying a woman after knowing her for a month and a half. She is most unpleasant. I fear that this is going to be the same outcome for my family.

I am friends with Kerri Kasem, his daughter. She has tried everything to help her father and his memory.

His 2nd wife sounds like she's going to burn in Hell. She was so obvious in covering up her actions. NO ONE THAT RICH dies from bed sores if his money is used to provide real care.

What you have just described about the illness you spoke of is exactly what I am going through with my dad right now. We lost my mum exactly 1year this month September 2023. They were together for 67years. But my dad is always saying that there are people in the house. So many types of people & of course I say I can’t see them & he gets upset & starts saying I am in on the people being there. When I have gone along with him he can’t understand why I don’t make them leave. It’s just so sad. Sorry to take up the comment page with my problem’s it just your the first person I’ve come across who has spoken of this. Am so sorry for the gentleman’s family & what there going through. I'm so sorry for the children being shut out like that. How sad that she put a wedge between him and his family.

It was a sad day when he passed away. My late father had dementia and he passed away from a massive heart attack a year after my mom passed away.

I'm so glad you got to make the trip to Norway and to show us Casey's grave. I loved AT40. I listened every week.

I work in long-term care and bed sores are not normal if they're turned every two hours like they're supposed to and if you keep good care of their skin if he died from sepsis of bedsores he was not taken care of properly

This is very sad, he should have been buried in California, that is where he spent the majority of his life and loved the state of California. I am sure Norway likes him, but it isn't like the love California has for him. Now he doesn't even have headstone, disgraceful. He is bound to be forgotten out there.

His wife was crazy, she abused him, his kids didn’t want money they made it clear, they just wanted to see their dad, the wife was crazy, I saw on tv throwing raw meat at the news people trying to do a story about them before Casey died. That’s a beautiful cemetery looks like a garden

That is a beautiful cemetery but Casey does not belong there. He should be in California where his home was and where he said he wanted to be buried. I remember watching a video here awhile back all about his family’s struggles in his final years. It’s very sad. I grew up listening to him on the radio. He was a legend. Beautiful cemetery, but he at least needs a decent headstone. He does have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which I suppose gives him a memorial closer to where he called "home."

I remember playing his show on the Radio station that I use to work at. It use to be on reel to reel and then on a CD every sunday afternoon. I always loved Scooby Doo back in the early 80's.

The 80’s was my teenage years & grew listening to Casey Kasem he was such a talented man & I loved him when was the true voice of Shaggy (In Scooby Doo) How he married that Jean Thompson I will never know 🤦🏻‍♀️ His death was heartbreaking he died because of neglect (Ulcerated Bedsores) No one should have to suffer like that 😢

Those wooden boxes are there for hiding the soil or hiding a open grave (for cremation) that is being used for later (same day or morning after). Also for not letting people step in it or animals digging.

Poor Casey. I LOVED scooby doo as a kid and still watch it as an adult. RIP Casey Kasem. You are still so loved by so many.

My grandmother came over on a ship with her parents from Oslo Norway, when she was 16 years old. It was the early 1900s. I really enjoyed walking through the beautiful cemetery with you.!

I have to say, that is a beautiful cemetery. At least it is tended, and not a complete mess of weeds. I do understand why Casey wanted to be buried close to his friends and children back in Los Angeles. It is a shame his wishes were ignored. I listened to him do the countdown every week for many years.

Bedsores are common in negligent nursing homes! Sepsis from bed source could possibly lead to a nursing home being shut down in Washington state.

Such a sad ending to a great man. I remember listening to his broadcast every week as a kid, they were so important to me. His soothing voice and Entertaining stories helped me through a very difficult childhood.

I just watched the 48 Hours episode about his death and family fighting, it’s so sad. His wife put him in a home, a private home of her friend who was a “nursing assistant”. This is where he developed the stage 3 bedsore on his back. This as not the care he deserved, in a cluttered bedroom surrounded by the friend’s Snoopy collection. Just horrendous.

On a sidenote.. i just realized how different european and US cemetaries are.. In the US you often can essentially drive up right to the grave which i always found a bit disrespectful. European ones just feel more personal with flowers, walkways, hedges, idividual headstones etc. More like a quiet park

What a terribly unhappy person she must be. I feel so bad for his children. He wanted to be buried in California and that's what needed to happen. And no headstone even. What is this woman afraid of?? There is just one small redeeming quality to this story and that is about this cemetery in Norway...it is very pretty. All those flowers blooming everywhere!
