I have used this watch for 6 month now and it's the best watch I have had and very cheap. Thanks for showing me the alarm function, it's handy. I have the positive display and it's very clear and easy to read
Thanks for your review. I have the black AE-1500 with the positive display. It has by far the biggest digits of any of my Casio watches, including the Pathfinder PAW-2000-1. The display is very sharp with lots of contrast. My sample runs about -3 or -4 seconds per month, which is better than average for my Casios. Another favorite of mine among the larger, inexpensive Casios is the DW-291H, which I believe you've reviewed before. Each has its advantages, which is why I own both.
I'm really surprised that this watch is so inexpensive with a ten year battery! I've been looking for a watch with the largest characters. This one will be a good companion for years to come. I was formerly attracted to Timex digitals because they had the larger characters. This Casio has solved my problem. Great review, thank you.
I love this watch. Since I’m getting older, my eyes don’t focus like they once did. Sure would like for Casio to upgrade this watch to a G Shock. Same simple display with huge numbers. Same size. And keep the buttons. Love the buttons. Please Casio! Make this a G shock!!!
Thanks for the review. My previous Casio 10-year battery was still working after 12 years and that was using the light 3-4 times a night. The only reason I replaced it with this AE-1500 was that the case and the stainless steel strap looked truly battered after wearing it at construction sites. My AE-1500 gains just one second a month. My previous Casio gained 1-2 seconds a month. Even the G-Shocks don't come with a 10-year battery and unless you're planning on driving a truck over your watch, this watch will withstand as much a beating as a G-Shock.
Thanks for the video, i have learned some new info on the timer and alarms. I have the Kakhi version for some 2 years now. On camera and photos the color is a bit lighter than in real world, but i like it very much. Real sturdy watch, got some beating to it and still pretty much like brand new. The display is very, very good, info is crystal clear on it, is a great daily beater, and you get the works - you know, time, date, stopwatch, 5 alarms, timer and dual time as well. The only "downside" for me is the light, which is just ok instead of great, but for the cost of this watch, there's nothing on the market imo as good as this one. Keep it up.
I love this model, hope thet make a solar/Multi Band 6 version. I bought all 3 this past December. I use the positive screen versions often. I don't know why I bought the reverse screen model, I guess because it was so darn cheap. The positive screen is so easy to read. Those fake screws make me laugh.
I’m missing the preset countdown timers in some of the older Casios. Are there any models with those features that we can purchase new? Something that cycles thru several presets. Without having to go thru all the changes. Nice for teaching classes
Dumb question but when does the 10 year battery cycle start? Because whenever I get casio watches they are already on when I open it. So does that mean the watch was already on for a certain period of time cutting into the battery life? Thanks in advance.
How do you silence the watch so that it doesn’t beep every time you press the mode button? Need to be able to go through the menus without the watch beeping every time I press mode button. Ex. Set Alarm.
Great review 👍. I have trt-110h besides some gshocks. Starting having eye sight issues Im after a watch with big numbers and this one seems so good, but, Ive been interested in timex tw4b2500 for some time because of its large appearance and its software. Which one would you recommend please? Thanks.
Dude, no matter which hole you put the closure on, the AE1500WH will fit you regardless of how big or how small your wrist is, I have like a 6 inch wrist and it fits outstanding.
the AE-1500 is great (stay away from the negative display model; it sucks). I love the concept/idea behing Gshocks; only problem is how small the digits are. 85% of the Gshock face is nothing but an ugly modern-art masterpiece. I want a watch, not a painting.
I have the khaki version. Great watch. Now, for those like me who find resin straps uncomfortable, you can purchase strap adapters from Jays&Kays. If you are ok with the plastic ones, order the adapters for the AQS810. I had a spare set of the metal 16-22mm adapters for the DW5600 and they fit just fine, just a little wiggle room.
I just got this one also in the negative display. Not sure why, but the "crystal" scratched super easily. I didn't even have a chance to give it a workout and it scratched. I've got Casios that have been through hell and back and not a single scratch.
if you can't find anyone selling precut screen protectors, get some 0% car window tints and cut then into shape with some scissors. These cheap watches use resin crystal aka plastic, the gshock line meanwhile uses real glass.
Greg, you described the backlight as amber, but it looks red in the video. If it is red then it won’t disturb night vision. That’s a positive aspect for a number of night time activities, including Astronomy.
I got the gray with negative display version & I love it. I absolutely love big Garmin 6X style watches & Gshocks. My two preferred styles & that being the case this watch is right up my alley. I have a G700UC-8A but wanted a digital Gshock, with all the economic issues lately & my personal financial issues couldn't spare the $80-$90 for the ones I really like so finding this watch at WM for $15 made my day & filled that spot. Great review.
Hi Greg, With these old eyes, large displays are appealing! Have you seen the new Casio Climber Line Pro Trek PRG340? Pros: large display, dedicated LIGHT button, articulating lugs allow case and band to lay flat on paper maps, simpler UI than G-Shock, doesn't harvest personal data. While I don't need ABC features (I backpack with a compass), the barometric pressure for altimeter and weather forecasting are appealing. Props for taking the time to produce such a comprehensive review! Keep up the great work! Cheers, ..Mike
I bought today this watch. And I remembered, I ve seen this video to this model. It ist the best short explanation to the functions. Better as the manual! - Thanks for the video🙏🙂 Greetings from Germany.
Add text reminders to the alarm settings and you'll almost reinvent the G-2900F. But I'm not sure why this model (as well as AE-3000) has an AE (Analog Electronic) prefix, as there's no analog time LCD subdial here or even the graphs that could substitute it. Maybe someone from Casio could explain?
thanks for the great review . i like this watch design so much , just don't know why Casio give up the green back ground light which look very decent . i wish the Casio will adjust the backlight up to 15 sec or even 1 mins . the battery haven't deplete , but the light button already spoil .
Hi Greg, I am a UK viewer of this video. Great Review!. Are the alarms clearly audible? Most of my Casios are not, a big weakness in the ranges. Many thanks Terry davis
I find the alarms to be very similar to the alarms on other Casio watches. I know that some folks think those aren't nearly loud enough but I've decided, long ago, that I treat them like gentle reminders and I won't rely on them to wake me up from a deep sleep.
@@entertainme7523 what you mean? Could you find that info in the video? I have watched it carefully and did not see it. Unless you consider "very big" being a standard unit of measure. But i am sure it's not the case ☺️
I have like a 6 inch wrist, it’s bulky, and I’ve inserted to the 9th hole of 11, and it fits perfectly, it’s like a big version of the GAB2100-1A but without the Bluetooth and Tough Solar.
No vibes, sadly. I picked up a 736h along with this watch for times I want vibes instead of beeps. I just wish the 736 came in the khaki color of the 1500. It’s a beautiful true khaki color (tan with a greenish tinge).
this isn't anything to do with this video specifically but it's just blowing my mind a little how this is literally the only watch channel which concerns Casio where I don't see a Single ga2100 video this isn't like Bad or anything, just really surprising lmao
Yes. I see how popular they are but, at a glance, the GA2100 models lack the stuff that gets my attention immediately. No atomic time receiver. No solar. Plus, almost all of them have negative LCDs. So… I remain indifferent.
That's a pretty arrogant thing to command others what they have to do and to imply that whatever it is that they are doing didn't already save them or that their existing beliefs aren't right. I think we could be a bit more considerate, loving and respectful towards one another than that
