I bought one in probably 2010-2012 and it still stays with a dead battery and no straps. You cant break this thing dude this thing and nokia 3310 are the most indestructable things in the universe
Dmitrii Grigorita Oh yeah, those are really indestructable and have extremely cheap parts. It can stuck when you fire or even blow on your habd but you can assemble it together again.
Thank you. I needed this. I've been spending a few hours in the last few months thinking about expensive watches knowing that I probably won't buy them because I already have 1JOB watch , 1 social outing watch, 1 night watch.
This watch has the heart of a lion. I bought it back in 1989, when I started my basic training in the U.S. Army. It survived everything we threw at it. The horrible humidity of New Jersey, the sand, water, mud, and of course, non-stop action in the direst of conditions in turning me into a real, badass soldier. The Casio laughed at all that and got me through basic training easy. It survived for several years during my Army tour of duty. The straps, after being tortured by sweat, grime and all the elements from cold to extreme heat and endless hours of physical training finally went out. But the watch itself never did. I wore that thing until it could not be worn no more. It is the Toyota of watches. It may not be attractive, but it will never let you down. And that is a beauty all of its own.
Good thing I bought this watch for my go at basic training. I was going to get the g-shock, but I wanted something that wouldn’t make me stick out From the other recruits and this one fits the bill.
your dad probably want to keep the rest of his collection safe and sound to well.. give it down to you! his child! thus leads him to only wearing a cheap beater Casio as his daily piece
The battery in my F91W had died when I found it a few years ago. Took it to a local watch shop and they said they couldn’t replace the battery because it was sealed shut or something :(
I have found an F91W on the floor of a car park 12 years ago, never changed the battery in it, it's been in the rain, snow and heat, been dropped and stepped on multiple times and the fact is.. it still works. It's truly an AK-47 in the world of watches ☺
You should never take someone's else belonging without their permission, even though it's cost $10 it's still a shitty thing to do. But I assume that you were a dumb teenager/kid at that time so no hard feelings.
My same watch fell in the well in my backyard, after 5-6 months, when cleaning the well, the cleaners gave it to me and it was still working... I was stunned.
@@yousefalkhudair4420 There are some places on the world, where 8 dollars is quite huge amount of money; in Poland, in the beginning of the 90's, this watch, as well as many others, was a symbol of wealth, futurism and cool breeze from west - it wasn't cheap, because taxes and traders wind up their price, but it was still affordable for everyone. Now times changed; 45 zlotys (10 dollars) is half of the money you get here for one day of work for least legally payed job. If this guy, that want to save 8 dollars is not an adult with job, and he lives in one of those not as wealthy as west countries, I can believe that he has to save that amount of money for a little while.
but a smartwatch doesn't just tell you the time, it gives you notifications & some other nifty features. I'd definitely buy a $300 smartwatch over an $300 regular watch.
No, they are not. You're still not exclusively just watching leftist political pseudo news and commentary propaganda channels. Odds are if you watched this video many more of your unbiased poltical feeds will be replaced with more unrelated videos while your leftist biased ones will keep showing up as they did or even start do ign more repeat recommending even after you watched them.
I went through my whole commercial dive school with this. Diving 2-3 times a week with the deepest depth around 100ft for a year and never had an issue with the water resistance. Absolutely unicorn of a watch between function and price
@@genericascanbe3728 the guy above said he dove with it many times to 100ft. If you google around you can find a guy who hydromoded (filling it with silicone oil - although he used EVOO, haha) an F91 and it survived several hours at ~1000 METERS (so like 3200ft).
This watch saved my life when I was a kid. I tripped and broke a glass with my left arm, and the glass shards would have cut through my radial artery if it wasn't for this watch... Unfortunately i lost it in this incident, while rushed to the hospital.
Still to this very day, the best watch I've ever owned. No nonsense, reliable, and crazy affordable price earned it a place in my collection. Not ashamed at all to wear it. It's been said that "less is more" and this little gem of a watch proves it. Thanks for posting the video.
Ah, from a time when a watch didn't need to be put on charge every night, and wasn't busy tracking your every move, and telling you when to get up, sit down, sleep, eat, sh!t, rinse, repeat.
I just received mine today and it’s awesome. Sick of having to charge my android smart watch every night and not being able to see the time in direct sunlight
@@JamesVanAlstine Nice! I got a Casio World Time Illuminator (akaAE-1200WHD-1AV aka Casio Royale) for Christmas and it's perfect. :) 10 year battery life? ok then :D
I used to be quite snobby when it came to digital watches, but over the past few years I’ve grown to appreciate them for what they are. The Casio definitely is the most cost effective watch you can buy.
Digital watches really have a seperate world than analog ones. You can feel it when you wear it for a while. On digital ones you can tell the time immediately.
SKMEI 1123 or CASIO B640, of which the former is a homage. SKMEI has a better backlight (although the CASIO at least has two LED lights so it's usable). CASIO has more water resistance and a countdown timer, which the SKMEI lacks. SKMEI is about half the price of the CASIO and both have equally good metal bands and build quality.
I bought my F91-W in Navy bootcamp and it's lasted me all this time. So much sweat, grime, dirt and rain and this little watch has never given up on me. Love the damn thing.
I used one for 20 years straight. My father gave to me when I was 12 years old, and I took it off when I was 32 years old because the screen became too dim, too faded and it was becoming hard to see the hours. I can guarantee it's crazy water resistant, you can swim all day long using it how many times you want. I had some scratches in it from my teenage years. I never used another clock, since now we have clocks everywhere we go, but if I was to buy another one it would have to be this one.
I just bought a random watch the other day so I can wear at work and not worry about scratching my cell phone etc. It was the only small digital watch in the shop which wasn't one of those biffy watches, so I bought it. It was the w-59, same watch as f-91w but with slightest bigger buttons. Today RU-vid randomly recommends this video and saw it in the thumbnail. I don't even watch similar channels! This may be the best purchase I made for 20 euros.
I’ve been a runner and cyclist for 38 years and can’t count how many I’ve gone through. Usually the band breaks but she’s still ticking. Truly one of the best buys in the universe. 11/24/19
The F91w is my daily wearer primarily because it is so thin and light. I have lots of bigger and far more expensive watches but I consistently reach for this one.
I bought a Casio W800H in 2012 while stationed at Ft. Hood for about $20. It has been great for me. My wife liked it so much that she asked me to get one for her. My wife has a habit of frequently breaking or losing her wristwatches. So ,a few months ago, I bought an F91W for her for $10 . My W800H broke where the band connects to the watch a few months ago, so I bought an F91W for $10 for me. My wife lost her first F91W, so I bought her another one for her birthday. Her birthday was about two weeks ago and she still has it. Now both of us have the same model again. It has been a very nice watch for the price. I am happy that I bought them. I have also noticed several people at work who have the same model wristwatch.
Thank you for this video! I realize this was the watch I used my entire 2 years in the army. I tied it to my combat webbing every time we went out, and the strap eventually broke after all the abuse we were put through. But this was an absolutely brilliant watch, and so comfortable to wear.
the thing I really like about Casio? they make buying watches fun. most of their models offer variety. the silver variant of this and the W217H which has an inverted display are my faves. I'm set for the rest of my life lol
yeahh, and they range from dirty cheap to hella expensive. The variety and stylishness, price and how they look and feel when wearing is just what brings me to them.
Always seen these, for some reason have never owned one. Watching made me realise theres no reason I shouldn't of after all these years. Jumped on the affiliate link and picked one up. Thanks for the review
1:56 I know it's cheap and small stuff but, come on. Buying another watch just because the battery expired is wrong, I mean don't we have enough trash already? And also this watch has screws at the back which makes it easy to replace the battery.
After field testing it, rather literally, I thought I would share a few remarks about this watch for potential buyers. 1. Looses about 1 second per month 2. It is more water-resistant than marketed. Wore it for swimming, multiple showers, hand washing and general water involved work. There are also records of it being used in Scuba diving, and examples on this can be found here on RU-vid 3. Very lightweight, low-key, and durable. There are multiple destruction videos of this watch on RU-vid, and they all showcase the same thing: it´s tough! 4. Offers alot of functionality for the pricepoint. 5. In hot climates, there might develop a bit of sweat underneath the stainless steel back and your wrist which gets trapped, and can cause some discomfort and annoyance. Remove the watch, rub off the sweat, and put it back on.
FPAS Spekk you sure about that one second per month? I have an f91w as well and it's more like one second per day. but it's still a great watch for the price
@@eeyyaakk6801 Could be minutes, my bad. Also heard different numbers from different people, so there might be some inconsistencies with each individual watch. Regardless, amazing watch and something I cannot recommend enough. A usual complaint is the backlight, and that there is a more premium version with a better backlight. My take on this is that it is completely irrelevant to the function of the watch, as the backlight in the F91W works just fine for its intended purpose. Those words also reflect the watch very well; it´s just fine!
I bought this watch for the first time in my life to use mainly for work...read my story...😅 I took my Casio F91W from a Chinese store, it was inside a showcase completely dusty, an old man handed it to me and I asked him: "but the guarantee?" He smiled and replied "boy, honestly, I don't know how many years that clock it's inside that showcase and it has always worked, I think it can be enough as a guarantee" 😅😅😅😅 damn fcuk, he killed me 😅😅😅
Probably the most iconic watch of all time. Many people started wearing watches with this one. Do you know any other product which is so good at what it does (keeping time), which is so reliable and still extremely cheap? Entire World can have precise and reliable time on their wrists. Even people from poorest regions of the World. Now that's a revolution! More significant than first watch in space or on the Moon. Hats off to Casio for not rising prices and making it "more exclusive". Such a cool company.
I had the calculator watch variant when I was a kid I remember being so happy when my dad bought it for me as a birthday gift. I still had it a few years ago until it was lost :(
Do you mean the W217H perhaps? It is thicker and rated to 50m waterproof. Most also have a gold ring rather than a blue. The strap is also significantly longer to suit larger wrists.
I got mine in the 90's but lost it in the house until a year ago. I was shocked when I saw that it is still working without the batterie ever changed in all the years. And what is even more unbelievable is that the time and date is still right. The only thing is that the wrist band is broken on one side, so I ordered a new set to replace it, hope it comes in the next few days. But all in all a really good watch.
Honestly the reason why they sell 34 million a year still is, practicality and affordability. Just bought my first and shit! I love the thing. Great review!
Damn I wear this when I was a kid in the 90s. I remember it was a gift from my uncle. It's so durable I never took it off my left wrist. The battery can last for years. Shit that is some good ol days.
I bought my A158W with my first salary. It's been 4+ years now. I absolutely love this watch and has never have had any issues with it. Light weight. Reliable. Cheap. Long battery life. Durable.
The review was overall right on the money, still I like to add a few points. While one may find similarly low priced watches in the market, if he is looking, the Casio F-91W is a branded quality watch, which is famous for its longevity and reliability. Also it's a unique design, with an in-house movement. Upon inspection of the watch, one admires its honest build, which is rare this day. It uses every square millimeters inside, to accommodate an oversized battery, without charging extra for it, beside the larger than usual movement. That is also rare. For comparison sake, let's take a typical low priced 'fashion watch' which may look good on the outside, but it doesn't deliver. The watch and the case designers usually put a tiny Myota movement in, with the help of plastic spacers, to fill the emptiness inside. This tiny movement obviously has an even tinier battery inside, which in my experience won't last much longer than a year.
I had this watch on my wrist without removing or changing the battery for 5 years. I had to remove it because of skin infection for non-removing for longer time. this is truly legend. HATS OFF.
I own a GWM-5610 G-Shock, it has a higher quality strap, an atomic clock that’s always accurate and never needs to be set, solar battery that will last a long time, an automatic backlight. And it’s a G-Shock, the thing can go through hell and still display the time. Yet I find myself wearing the F-91w way more than my G-Shock. This watch is not just a simple bit of nostalgia or a piece of plastic with numbers on it, it’s an icon. I knock it against the wall while working, ding it up against the table constantly, and all it has after several months is a few small scratches after being banged on metal all the time. Put a bit of polywatch on there and it looks almost new besides the scratches on the strap. I work as a dishwasher and had my coworker once look at me like a madman when I put a bit of dawn dish soap on it and wash it. This thing gets soaked at my job and all I do is just wipe it down if it gets too wet, if it can withstand the power of a restaurant dish sprayer, I think it can stand a bit of swimming or a shower. Casio is the undisputed goat of watches. Like someone else said they may not look the best but they are way more practical and will get the job done way better than those fancy watches will, especially G-Shocks. I wish my G-Shock could be the size of the F-91w because that would be the perfect watch. All those features combined with the comfort of the F-91w, plus it won’t interfere with long sleeves really at all which is an issue with the G-Shock, plus it doesn’t stay on one place on my wrist which gets annoying. Buy it. I think it might actually be the best watch I’ve ever owned or at least Top 3.
Props to Japanese reliability of Casio company. It is a great product 30 years (from 1989) and it is simply a very practical watch for every occasion. I prefer it for running as you can hold your record time and it is lightweight.
Holding down the 24hr button to display "CASIO" is no longer a reliable way to tell if you have an authentic f-91w. You have to look at a bunch of different factors/features.
I remember in 9th grade when I saved for almost an entire year to buy one of these watches, I was so proud of it. But 2 years later, somebody showed me that the one I had was a fake one and he had a real watch. One of the biggest blunders of my life.
After decades of not wearing a watch, I've decided to get back into them. I've been looking at high end stuff and I was getting sucked in to the hype but I realised the F91W is the best watch in the world. It's way cooler than any Rolex.
I actually love that "weak" green backlight. It's one of its features I like the most.In all extents, it's a rocking watch: simple, practical and efficient. Greetings from Chile guys!!
ohwhye Exactly !!! I've been wearing the F105W for about 20 years now (I'm 35) - for me it's just the perfect watch. I wear it every day and the illuminator has helped me out quite a bit over the years.
It's been 4 years I have this watch. I went deep diving (40 m=4 atm) without dive computer and it survived (not to mention other many recreation dive in salt/sea water). It safes me by counting the minutes when I was in certain depth. The thin design makes it easier when I put on my wetsuit. The straps were broken and I forget where I keep the watch but I can still hear the alarm beeping every morning in my studio. 😅
Resin strap failure is common in these watches. A shame considering the watch itself is durable as all get out. You would think that Casio would improve the chemical makeup of the bracelet to ensure max lifespan.
The best timepiece ever. It tells time. I'm a practical man, I prefer function over form, I've bought one idk how many years ago, all I know is that I've replaced it's battery twice and it's still going. It's been my alarm clock when camping, it's been my chronograph when working out, and it's been telling me time. All I could ask from a watch.
I'm Japanese and I really enjoyed your video ! many Japanese people are forgetting the beauty of Casio and buy luxury watches of other country! I will buy this one 😁😂
