Tough GPS and Bluetooth solar watch with multiple onboard sensors and functions. Can a smartwatch a fraction of the price do all the things this watch can? Mostly, while outperforming the rangeman in some areas. Can a smartwatch in the wilderness without phone reception or a power outlet function after an extended period of time after heavy use? No. Will a smartwatch survive trekking through mud, dirt, water, snow, sand and other ungodly conditions? No. Other GPS "survival" watches? Most likely no after extended use in those conditions. You get this watch as a tool much like a axe or a swiss army knife to keep you alive while out in the field. Getting lost is stupidly easy when you are in the wilderness where everywhere you look things are identical. I would rather spend the money on this watch than risk getting stranded in the middle of nowhere. It's not a product for casual everyday use (though most people buy it for that). Stick to those Fitbits or other wear os or non Master of G watches if you want something more casual. This Rangeman when used correctly will always lead you home.

Very good and clear review ! I have a question: I also have the g shock rangeman gpr-1000. I noticed when looking at the face from a certain angle the black part "flickers" (becomes somewhat lighter in color) regularly like a pulse, every second let's say. Do you have this on your watch too ? Is this normal ?

The ceramic is for the cradle. The original Rangeman was one of the first Master of G G-Shocks.

i also have this rangeman, i have calibrated it to 0m & the difference also 0m, but if i walk about 30 meters (normal roads not gaining any altitude) and i saw again the altimeter, the numbers is increasing, it shows 25m & also 25m (difference). is it normal? because many users also have this problem in this watch. Please help :D

Ceramic case back on a g-shock?

As a user of both Casio B1000 and Garmin Fenix I must say that Garmin has a lot more functionality and Casio is more rugged and the solar panel is very useful. What Casio did wrong is not supporting B1000 with software updates. This is very bad decision which shows that Casio has a lesson to learn with such devices as B1000. Or am I wrong and they changed their mind? Please correct me if I am wrong. In my opinion B1000 could be updated via Bluetooth and phone app. It is technically possible.

Bought this watch, useless for GPS but good for world time. All receiver function fails after few month of use!

Too much bezel, too little screen estate and way too expensive.

I used to like G Shock but this just looks like a kids toy
