Absolutely drawn in my friend... I couldn’t stop watching as I have the same watch... can’t agree more, but personally and in my opinion this S100 is better finished than 95% of Swiss watches... you say ‘Swiss’ but are they? The Oceanus have pride and honour to make lovely things, I feel the Swiss watches have become just a money making empire taking advantage of being Swiss stamped... with that 60/40% it makes my thoughts wonder to exactly what are the truths... I’ve not heard anything with regards to factory defects with Oceanus unlike BOLEX that seem to have many issues... on the price there isn’t a watch that can match it, and it’s not just the polishing from Grand SEIKO, they make the cases and bracelets so very special indeed. The movement is just for this S100, unlike ETA and Sellita that are used in the millions of brands... brilliant video, and please leave a comment on my tutorial with a link and I’ll pin it to the top of the comments. Anyone who disagrees is wrong, and that scratched up Oceanus must’ve been done with a diamond disc cutter continuously for 69 days, there’s no way it could look like that on the wrist, he would be missing his arm that’s for sure! Massive thumbs my friend and thanks for sharing ;)
Thank you so so much! Yes! Too many swiss brands have the same movements inside and relatively unreliable. The swiss great at branding. "Automatic movements have soul and quartz don't"? I even felt some automatics are empty and my oceanus movement have more soul. There is a lot more into it. 👍✨
@@watchroll3310 When winding a automatic and you don't see the second hand moving, then you see two souls lifting, and one of them is yours LML :-P It's the Swiss images shown with white coats on lovely wooden benches, with old style loops with them always screwing something down in a room that's completely empty in a building that's the size of a stadium LML Meanwhile in Japan at the Oceanus factory ten people all around a work station using precision tools wearing head gear and masks so their flaky dandruff and beard food doesn't fall into the movements and dials... the room is filtered and sterile and even their shoes are antistatic! Back in the Swiss location somewhere in the alps with some snow and a cow, is showing a old room with a guy who is most likely not Swiss assembling metal parts that are also not 100% Swiss pretending to take 382 days to assemble a date complication... parts are hidden from view in the millions, and all the other workers laying flat on the floor, as they want that shot with one guy who makes everything by hand! Back in Japan the modules are being partially assembled by micro bots which measure against numbers that don't use tolerances as this is a too much of a large scale... Mooooving back to the Swiss mountain air the containers for leather straps are reversing into the docking stations, man with a cigarette drives a forklift which he uses to move the pallets... The Japanese sunset is near to complete and the cooling air is now the perfect temperature to smelt titanium... dials are being decorated with every marker being placed perfectly... no failure at this point, in fact their isn't a person who does this as they get it right at the start... It's midday in Switzerland and everyone has to take an hours silence while eating... but the machine that stamps out the tin gears is having a misalignment issue which is going to cost the company a few Toblerone's... but the foreman says it's just a few teeth missing so chuck them in for the watches that are for the Swiss as nobody Swiss buys these watches anyway... A good day at Oceanus as 25 OWC-S100's are fully assembled and ready to dispatch... area is cleared as the next order is for MRG's. Back in Geneva as it's always Geneva as everyone thinks it's the capital of CH, the QA team have their work cutout as 3000 watches await for inspection and it's Friday afternoon... team leader of QA says to test 10 and the rest just pass... forklift driver is now on the QA and has clumsy hands, but it's ok, they have springs in the movements to take the shocks. Now, I have no idea if this is true, but my thoughts work like this :)
@@WatchUP69MrRangeman hahaha 😂 I was wondering if you hear this somewhere else! That's a great point I wished I put on this video! The oceanus engineers wear a full suit to prevent any particles to go out in the watches. That's just amazing!
Irony is that whole Oceanus line is produced and assembled in Seiko Epson factory, Casio doesn’t have master craftsmen or thin plate machines or know how for Zaratsu polishing.
I had one for 2 years and was then sucked in by the Swiss brands and sold it, BIG mistake. I wished up and started missing it so much.. I have had to purchase the Oceanus again and its the only watch I wear. It is literally perfect.
same here, I have a bunch of other watches, but always come back to my oceanus after wearing 'other watches' for just a day or two. it's like a grand seiko that is always accruate to the second and lighter and thiner and easier to read in dark. wouldn't trade it for any rolex.
I have just received mine from Japan and to say I am happy with it is an understatement , I am thrilled , this is by far the best watch in my small collection, the bracelet not being changeable was never a deal breaker for me , after all it's titanium and really suits the watch and I personally am more than happy , although I do understand some people would like the choice, Casio could also maybe given a couple more micro adj. and perhaps a safety clasp on the clasp, but still super happy.
I received a casio edifce solar watch as a gift and loved it. When I discovered this Oceanus line, I sold my I-watch series 5 and brought the OCW-T3000. The best money I ever spent. Thank you for the video. This watch is more reliable and more affordable than the Swiss made watches. Definitely buying another one🔝🙌😎
The S100 is simply one of the best watches on the market period. However there are a couple of minor issues such as the non-changeable bracelet (would be nice to put on leather or rubber strap) and 'Tough Mvt' text (I think it is alright but a lot of other people have issue with it). The new T200 model fixes these issues but that watch is heavier steel and is bigger. I love Oceanus but the high end models have a little bit too busy and have large dials. I would love to see an classic 3 hand Oceanus in the $1,000-$2,000 price range to go head on with 'The Citizen Chronomaster" and Grand Seiko quartz models.
Good perspective! I personally like the "Tough mvt" Text as its like "spring drive" or "Co-axial" The non changeable bracelet is a little bit of an issue for me too. I wish I could have the option to swap it even I don't plan to change it. Yes a high end Oceanus to go head on with the chronomaster or GS would be great! I sent a letter to Oceanus stating if they do a 300m professional high end 40mm slim diver it would be amazing. I also really wish for a chronomaster diver.
It's your watch and your choice , but I can't understand why you would want to take off a titanium bracelet for which you have paid top dollar, to put on a leather strap.
@@John-P because many situations leather strap can complete a look better than a bracelet, especially for formal wear. Many people wear Patek and Vacheron sports watches on leather strap even though those are the best finished bracelets in the business
Bought one and has become my favorite watch brand, love the quality and Accuracy, never knew Casio for luxury, more I investigate them the more I like, you get lots of high tech in a precision time piece
Love mine, bought it 3 years ago, I prefer the S100’s simplicity versus the more complications versions. The watch is also extremely comfortable to wear.
The level of detail and finishing are really great. Love all the built in tech too, but I wish they would drop the Casio name and Tough Movement off the dial, and just be Oceanus. If they could manage to engineer a smooth seconds hand sweep, like the Bulova Precisionist, this would be my dream watch!
Hi, I had a question on the bracelet adjustment. There are links marked with an arrow and links that are not. I'm wondering whether you can adjust the links without an arrow - if your wrist is too small? Or are these fixed and not removable? Thanks!
I also own this beautiful watch and I am 100% satisfied. For information I wanted to know if it is possible to do a total reset as in other Casio models. Thanks for the info.
Excellent review, watched all your reviews of this watch, very informative! Ordered one few days ago, should arrive in the next few days. Although the multi band function won't work for me since I live in the middle east.. so probably gonna sync it once a month or so with a wwvb emulator app. It looks very beautiful and the finishing along with it being titanium is what drawn me to buy it!
Just received mine two days ago. Amazing watch. I have a wide ranging collection which includes the Rolex Explorer 36mm. The Oceanus is as versatile as the Explorer. It is so light. The tech inside is amazing. Love it. Keeper in my collection.
I'm seriously considering one of these, but I have one questions (well, 2 actually): Does the clasp offer the on-the-fly adjustability that Casio has on other models? I've watched every review on this model, and no one talked about this. Also, can you tell me the diameter of the case at it's smallest point? Thanks, enjoyed your video!
I absolutely love the Oceanus I bought two weeks ago, in Japan, where I live. The quality is comparable to Grand Seiko, for a fraction of the price. It is not true that the zaratsu dials are made in the same factory, although they are of similar quality.
This is the most expensive watch I own. I feel as though I can stop there. I absolutely love it. What do you think of the T200 version? PS, the Oceanus line is made in the same workshop as Grand Seiko, hence the crazy good QC and finished.
Yes! I sold basically every other watch I ever had in my collection but this is the only watch I plan to keep forever. The T200 is good. I personally like the case and dial design of this OCWS-100 more, and I much rather this H.I. Titanium than the steel on the T200 but Is very hard for me to think Oceanus has made a non great watch. So far all their watches are very great in my opinion.
My S100 has just ruined me for other watches. My watchbox now just sits there, filled with various automatics and quartz watches, unopened day after day. One of my clients has a Rolex Milgauss that I used to really like but now it just looks plain and overpriced in comparison. I'm saving up for a slim Manta and probably going to sell most of my meager collection now. By the end I'll have just two watches, an S100 and a Manta - both Casio Oceanus models. Well, maybe I'll keep a MWW Rattler field watch so I'll have a decent tough automatic if an EMP goes off in the area and fries the Casios' electronics. The S100 everyday "beater" at work and the Manta for dress and other events. I like how Casio just calls them all "Oceanus" and that's it, without splashing a model name on the dial. Since the cases are all finished, polished, and inspected by hand I completely understand why they're only sold in Japan and only for a limited amount per model - volume. Doing things by hand like this means you can't rapidly churn out tens of thousands of each model every few months. These things are heavily-underrated and unknown gems in the watch world. Another sleeper series are the Lineage all-Titanium Wavecepter models, but I'm not sure if those are even made anymore.
I'm thinking of buying this watch but on a lot of reviews I can feel like there something strange on the frame date. Can someone tells me if the area of the date is well made? Thanks a lot.
Shopping in JAPAN ! The watch has arrived in just 4 days from Japan all the way to Frankfurt Germany with a very delicious small Japanese snack in the package. That was an awesome experience that made me look forward for the next shopping experience with them.
I've had my Oceanus for about 10-15 years and the battery is still going strong. I think that mine is an OCW600, a chronograph style that has been discontinued a while back. These watches go to sleep when left in the dark. I recently left mine in my watch box for a year or two, when I took it out it woke up without a problem and started working again with the correct time and date. Pretty amazing.
Great watch, I am considering to buy. Anybody know if the bracelet is regular pin, pin and collar or screw links. Apologies if I missed it in the video.
I'm just waiting for mine to be delivered this may help ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Glki6_NYUNg.html I believe it's the same as the casio
They can go for even 15 years without replacing the rechargable battery mainly. A capacitor would last longer and the solar panel can last a lifetime depending of it's use. If you leave it in the sun and is burning hot constantly then it won't last that much.
I just like the 388 size/designs which include some retro Oceanus. I got a cheap Waveceptor a while back with some titanium which is worth the money for comfort reasons. Not for bling, I guess.
Thank you. re sell value is ok with higher end oceanus. I think if you buy this model in particular new , wear it, put some marks on it and sell it you will loose around 100$ or more.
@@goodlifebdg is great and similar to this oceanus but there is more in to the oceanus finishing and technology in the movement. Citizens solar panel might be better.
i bought the newer T200 and I am in love with it. I sold my Aquaracer and went for exactly that balance between prime quality and function. unfortunately, my t200´s second hand is slightly off, not hitting the seconds markers perfectly. I hope to find a watch maker in my city who can adjust it
Many times is the angle that makes the second hand to appear misaligned. Check it looking at it from the back of the seconds hand to the front in relation to the markers that's the only way to make sure 100%. By the way no regular watch maker can work on this movements as they are much more complex than regular quartz. Take gear slack in consideration too. Quartz are made with a gap on the gears on purpose for the health of the movement. Thermal expansion, shocks, fluidity.
I have the S100 but I suppose the T200 works the same. The watch will automatically align the hands but if for some reason it doesn’t succeed you can do a manual calibration. The instructions leaflet calls this ”adjust home positions manually”. There is also a video about it here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xd05Zu9G5Nk.html
Regular titanium is very easy to scratch. grade 2, 3, 4, 5, titanium is harder to scratch the higher the grade. grade 5 is similar to high intensity titanium. There is high intensity titanium watches without any coating that are harder to scratch than steel. A big difference is that titanium is dark and high intensity is brighter. Thanks man!
On the black dial S100 version they used grey for the city abbreviations so you don't really notice them unless you're specifically looking for them. Form a distance they almost disappear.
There is the T200 that does not have the city markers and has no Tough Movement print on the dial. Downside is its bigger(subjective) and its stainless steel so heavier... But the dial is cleaner and the indexes are more bolder and less cartoony...
Watches do not have souls. Is just a novelty based on perception. This watch is more complex than a regular mechanical movement. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LEJjHH7drhY.html
It would be even better if it had big white lettering all over the face saying "Water Resistant", "Tough Solar", "World Time" etc., like Casio does on every other f*@#&%* watch.
Most of the video is me talking. I read some lines from time to time as reference to organize my thoughts. Why does this matter to you? I didn't see any valuable better content on your channel.
