I just bought the Casio PX-S3100, and I'm loving it!!! Your video here is by far the most comprehensive of all that I've seen on RU-vid, and I thank you very much for the upload. I've already been studying the user manual for several days, so I've been ready for this video, and it filled in a bunch of blank spaces that I hadn't covered yet. Of course you couldn't cover everything, so I'm wondering if you've done any other videos on the pitch bend, the knobs, and perhaps the accessories? In any case, thank you once again for a great upload!!

Excellent overview. I've had the S3000 for 8 months. Bought it for the polyphony, weight, piano and speakers Ticks those boxes, then some. My experience with the Chordana Play for Piano app is that with my android smartphone when I switch away from the app and then come back, it will occasionally freeze. I'll have to unplug and plug it back in. I would consider purchasing a used tablet for lyrics, set lists & settings when I figure out what's going in with the app. Been using the S3000 with my band, on and off. Sounds are OK, but the electric pianos and organs need to be tweaked with DSP. We just learned "Running up that Hill", by Kate Bush and amazingly the S3000 has some synth sounds for a decent split/layer combination. That surprised me. Through the PA the Stage Piano really does cut. For those using the Audio In, remember to turn off the Audio in effects unless you really need them!!

Hey thanks for all that info that's awesome, and I love that stage piano. Can I ask what your favorite EP is (for a Rhodes-I use the Amp 60's mostly) and what effects you like to add to it? I'm very much a newbie with regards to DSP effects. And my audio in reverb depth defaults to 0 (when you mentioned that I though - yikes I need to check that! ;) Also if you're looking for an app for chords/lyrics that can also start and stop a backing track on your device in time with the chord chart, check out my review on SongBook Pro that app is fantastic. I used it daily up until recently I started buying pro tracks off of Jamzone instead, but Songbook Pro is amazing: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tTHCRhR45yQ.html Thanks a bunch for the comments and for checking out the channel! Lovely post thank u. I won’t use any sounds other than piano except maybe Rhodes e piano occasionally and won’t need or use any rhythms so will probably get 1100 instead as I don’t think screen will be so critical for me using so few voices. Are there any acoustic piano voices on the 3000/3100 that you thought were great that were not on the 1100? I heard somewhere the Stage piano ? voice on the 3000 was amazing? Cheers Isaac

Hi there! Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed the review. I talk about the piano voices and the stage piano at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wKf4eaBpUi0.html of the video. A friend of mine who gigs with a 3000 had told me about how awesome the stage piano voice was, and after buying my 3000 I totally agree it's awesome. It's brighter than the typical "best" voice (voice #1 on digital pianos), but still has alot of the detail and nuance manufacturers typically put into their #1 voice but not others. That being said, if you're not interested in the rhythms and will only be using a couple voices, then would I pay the extra for the 3100 JUST to get the stage piano? No; the jazz piano on the 1100 actually comes pretty close. But if you can find a 3000 on sale for the same price as an 1100 (that's what I was lucky enough to find) then I would totally recommend grabbing the 3000 instead even if you won't use many of the features. Hope that helps, let me know what you decide! Thanks for checking out the channel, feel free to subscribe!

Hang on I'm confused. At the end you were talking about the difference between the 3000 and 3100, but then you went on to say you could not hear the difference in sound samples from the 1100 to 3000? Did you mean to say 3000 to 3100? That's what I want to know.
@PianoTone
@PianoTone Год назад
Hi there! I had heard some other reviewers say that the piano samples sounded better in the new models; so for example the Grand Piano Concert which is the main voice on all of these models supposedly sounds better on the 1100/3100 than on the 1000/3000. While I didn't have my 1100 and 3000 at the same time to compare directly, I didn't notice any improvement or difference in that voice on the new series (my 1100) over my 3000 (prior series). Thanks for checking out the channel feel free to subscribe

Oh man I am so lost.... Beginner here that has played ablot of vst organs So I have played the pxs 3100 in the shop and I fell in love with it. The variety of sounds is always what I enjoy the most as music prducer and this piano just sparks creativity in me.... It was just so fun and surprisingly i liked the action more than fp30 But then reading on yt, they say that the keys are getting heavy towards the end and action is flawed. Plus i do not like touchscreen bc if it breaks than yikes. Now I could get the fp60x for the same price as casio 3100 Clearly from online fp60x seems to be a better instrument and has a lot of sounds. I could try it in 2 days in another shop but there is no casio. Just so lost now, take the inferior product bc I enjoy it for same price? Also, roland action is kinda heavy but clearly the vetter one Also these organs on the casio are just wow. I am an organ fanatic and some of them come close to the meat of a b3. Whereas tbh I really did not like rolands organ sounds at least on the fp30x What would you say, how does the fp60x conpare to this? Are the sounds as fun and creative? Is the sound quality even better in the roland? In terms of speakers i dont care, I have a full studio with monitors Thanks and best
@PianoTone
@PianoTone 11 месяцев назад
I've never actually reviewed the 60X; I owned an FP-30, and reviewed the FP-30X. But remember: just because an action is "more similar to an acoustic piano" doesn't necessarily make it "better". It depends on what YOU happen to like, prefer and need; if your goal is to play acoustic grand pianos then maybe a more realistic action would be better for you; if you're more like me and don't care about that, then get the piano with the action that feels better to you. If it was me and you said "here you can have a 3100 or an FP-60X"?; easy choice for me, I'd take the Casio. I know alot of people really like the Roland PHA4 action, but I don't like it - it's too heavy and sluggish for me. My favorite is the Yamaha GHS and a close 2nd is the Casio Smart Scaled. And the organ sounds on the Casio (in my opinion) blow away the organs on the FP-30X; as far as the 60X goes, like I say I haven't reviewed it so I can't say for sure, but if they're the same as the 30 then I like the Casio's better. I wouldn't call the 3100 "inferior"; it's just different with a different focus and pro's and con's. If you're an organ player, the lighter action on the Casio is FAR more appropriate than the Roland action. Hope that helps! Thanks for checking out the channel, feel free to subscribe

@@PianoTone Thanks a lot mate, that helps. Nah, I dont care about grand piano. I am a music producer and have been primarily playing guitar for 18 yrs. Initially I picked up keys at a yamaha ew 425 at my ex girlfeiends. Had sooo much fun with that. You know, the numerous sounds is what I really appreciate. Brass, strings, pads but BY FAR most importantly organ and especially B3 hammond. And in the shop I was just hooked by the casio. Just the specs on the roland tell otherwise Now yes, organ sounds are the same on fp60x except more Probably an FP50E would also be a choice because of zen core Sounds... Yamaha dgx 670 is too bulky for that. I have a full board of strymon fx so what I basically need is weighted action an ld ESPECIALLY loads of inspiring good quality sounds. The EW425 deliverd so much on that, I want an experience like that again vut wighted. Miss that thing Best Marcus
@PianoTone
@PianoTone 11 месяцев назад
@@marcusstrymon693 If you liked the 425 and want weighted (but the DGX is too heavy) the 3100 is absolutely the one for you. :)
@marcusstrymon693
@marcusstrymon693 11 месяцев назад
@@PianoTone I mean use it only in the studio but the dgx is such a massive thing, god the size annoys me Do you think the dgx sounds really outshoot the privia so much? Especially organs? And then the fp50e seems very interesting as well Best and thanks a lot for helping me out herr!
@PianoTone
@PianoTone 11 месяцев назад
@@marcusstrymon693 The DGX sounds are awesome, and so are the Casio's; the DGX user interface is better (full colour screen, tons of buttons), the Casio is super portable and has L/R lineouts (which the DGX does not) so they each have their advantages. The FPE50 is actually a way better choice than the FP-30X or 60X because you get more sounds, a nice user interface and some cool arranger features (including being able to load a chord chart and have it play that to you using the accompaniment as opposed to you having to finger accompaniment chords); I hope to review that piano soon. But since you preferred the Casio action - that's the one for you :)
