Yoshihiro Naruse really showed up to the gig looking like someone’s dad in a polo and slacks, and proceeded to bust out the most the narstiest slap solo I’ve heard in a damned long time. Legendary.
That's Minoru Mukaiya, his solo stuff is just as killer bro. He did the OST for Sega Rally 2 as well so like look that up, and also Welcome to the Minoru's Land which is very good
The expression on Mukaiya's face when he played the solo from 1:50 is exactly the same as the expression on Jordan Rudess' face when he played his solo in Acid rain live. It's a strange similarity between great keyboardists.
so glad the youtube algorithm helped me discover Casiopeia. Every track/every youtube video i hear/watch gets better and better. I'm sitting here flabbergasted
Same! I just found them out about a month ago and decided to learn some of their songs, I posted a guitar solo from the 1979 midnight rendezvous casiopea album if you wanna check it out.
Return to Forever, Chick Corea, Level 42, UZEB (Alain Caron), Brian Bromberg, Jeff Berlin...and now Casiopea added to my list of influences. This is awesome.
Good to see Mukaiya-san in this live performance! Would've been great to have Tetsuo Sakurai as well but its hard to deny that Naruse-san isn't an excellent performer!
I don't even know what to say. This guys always have me speechless. I wish they knew how much I love their music. Greeting from MX! They are freaking hella good!
Cas, and Jimbo, I thank you for that wonderful playing. This is a tight!!!!!!!!!!!band. I learned so much from you guys . And then I watched Jimbo on his DVD and dam! that's good stuff. Afro Cuban influence is what Jimbo talks about on DVD. Latin Jazz my you live for ever.
Slap guitar’s always been in this song. Fun Fact: slapping was originally a guitar technique and then someone (can’t remember who off the top of my head) popularised it in bass playing
I just watched a man abuse an 8-string bass for five minutes straight and it brought me to tears I can only hope to play the bass half as well in my lifetime
