Good review! Now for the real world... As an owner of a couple Tempur-Pedic mattresses I must warn the consumer that over the long term, the Tempur-Pedic will develop a memory in the foam after about a year and wallow out from the top of your shoulders down your back to the buttocks due to repetitive nightly body weight. It is extremely difficult to move out of that depression that forms in the foam by moving from side to side to adjust out of the hole in the memory foam that won't bounce back. By morning, you'll be in excruciating pain from being stuck in one position most of the night and have to sit on the edge of the bed for a few minutes when you wake up while your back recompresses. We sent one mattress back as the Tempur-Pedic people agreed (utilizing their broomstick and quarter photo test) that a permanent depression had formed and wasn't returning to it's original, level state, and they sent a replacement several weeks later. The problem with the replacement mattress was they failed to attach the manufacturing tag with the date manufactured on the replacement and when it failed like their first mattress about two years later (again) they wouldn't honor the claim because of the tag. Always check your tags and dates on your mattresses for warranty purposes as Tempur-Pedic will take advantage of you. We had a king sized mattress and paid well over $1.5k for it. We've had two Tempur-Pedics and never again! So we're on our way tonight to get a Casper. Wish us luck!
Casper is the first bed in a box that I had ever heard of, so i always have a certain affinity towards it. They do seem to be a great overall mattress; good for most sleepers and I love that they have the different zoned supports. For a stomach sleeper like me, the balanced foam seems to be a better option
Martin here from the comment section. Can't really like Tempur or take their side when so many other mattresses are able to do just as good for much lower price. Good to see Tempur is trying to compete with lower priced mattresses though. This one is probably going to sleep hot and a pass for me either way.
I’m gonna have to go with the TempurPedic, i love that slow moving memory foam feel that allows me to sink in slowly. TempurPedic make some nice beds!👍
Casper definitely sounds more promising than tempur-pedic based on price, firmness (I like firm), zone support technology. I would like to know about the durability of the zone support. It's cool way to give required support for each part of our body. But if that support is not durable it could cause more harm than good.
The zoned support and air-scape foam with the Casper is very attractive, and it's more firm. If I could get the top of the Casper with a great coiled firm mattress, I'd sleep very well at night. :)
This round goes to the Casper. I'd require more back support, although I am a combination back and side sleeper. My preference is for hybrid technology as they offer better durability and longevity and can offer slightly better cooling options. Thanks for the information
Great comparison as usual, Marten! ❤️🥳 I did look at Casper for a very long time since they are so popular, but what stood out to me wasn’t even mattress related-it was customer service! I have an ongoing spreadsheet listing bed information like warranty, material, trial night #, etc. for each brand. (I love research. 😅) After searching for quite some time, I found a lot of complaints about not receiving the bed and/or customer service never responding. 🥺 Hopefully those things are not issues anymore because the Casper bed really sounds great! Budget-friendly? Yes, please!
- Connolly Ugh, of course! 😔 I am very sorry their customer service still seems to be an issue-I can only imagine how horribly frustrating it is to deal with that. I REALLY appreciate you letting me know! 💕
The Casper seems like a nice choice for multiple positions (and thus couples) with the zoned support and I like the air flow. And the more supportive foam to me is nicer (trying to get away from memory foam).
Throughout the video I was leaning toward Tempur cloud for the slow moving sink and the firmness. Then I seen the pressure test and the Casper seems to beat tempur cloud. Plus cooler mattress seems better as well.
I have the Tempur Pedic and it's not hot if you use a mattress cover. It is rather firm and does sink in slowly like the typical super-dense Tempur memory foam. It's not for everyone, but is good if you like firmer memory foam mattresses. It tends to soften in a warmer room and stiffen in a colder room.
I'd pick the Casper over the tempercloud for several reasons.I like that it is much cheaper(but tbh I'd pick it over Tempercloud even if it wasn't)I like that it has zoned support(that lumbar support is important to me) and is more responsive.I do not like slow moving memory foam
Tempur pedic is softer than Casper, they are made from different materials. Because I am a side sleeper I think I would chose the Tempur Pedic after considering all the differences
Thanks for the comparison. If I had to choose, I'd go with the Casper, but in general, I'm not in favor of all foam beds, particularly memory foam.. Latex, yes. Memory foam, no. Don't link the sinking feeling or material made from petroleum. And, heat retention.
Honestly I wouldn't choose either. Tempur-pedic is way to expensive for a hot mattress that you can barely move in. And Casper, nothing in your review falls into my reasons for not purchasing. I prefer the construction of the Casper over Tempur-pedic for sure.
Again, I choose the Tempur for the high density Tempur memory foam feel. However, I would buy The Tempur-pedic pro adapt firm or a hybrid model. Thanks again for the bed-education
Thanks Martin for this review. I think I would prefer a hybrid mattress due to my weight 210# but if I had to choose between these two- as a side sleeper I think I would like the Tempur Cloud!
Tempur-pedic all the way. Its the best for side sleepers and especially for people who like me are stuck in bed. Its my pipe dream and would be the biggest blessing in my life if I could only afford it. It may be older technology but it really is the best. I will keep praying for my miracle to have one so I won't have to suffer anymore. Caspers are very nice and id be greatful to even have one of those just to have an actual mattrrss but ultimately the tempur would save my lifd in more ways than you could imagine. Thwnk you for the lovely reminder as it gives me hope.
