I am 68 yrs old and have been a fan of the M&P since they came on the scene. Fell in love with her voice and personality. She was so funny! I’ve been praying and hoping for a film on her unique life for years now. I hope someone comes out and does her life story justice. I hope they use her recordings because there is not another artist out there that could do it justice. Only one Cass Elliot voice. There will never be another in this world!! So thankful we have her vocal recordings and these you tube recordings. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to making these available to all her fans!!!
Mike Douglas had one of the best shows. It was on in the afternoon so I could watch it. He was patient and asked really good questions of his guests. Cass is so smart and sweet here. Lovely too. Sad she died so young.
@@shelly2599 unfortunately it's was, she only lives on in the memories she left behind in all of her close friends and family and fans. She went home to glory soon after this interview.
Cass would have fit in perfectly these days just as then. Especially now that we have weight acceptance more, and her personality is awesome, being open to change, her talented singing voice. She would have loved the Internet. I wish I knew her. My mother loved Cass. She had her records and Mamas and Papas Records Her daughter Owen Vanessa looks a little like her
15 seconds into the show and already she makes me laugh! "Well I'm glad to be exposed." Lol gee I sure wish she was still around. Such a wonderful personality, and great sense of humor!
From what I can gather from IMDB it appears that this show aired on Monday, February 23, 1970 and Cass was on the show all that week. I’d sure like to see those shows. I hope they survived and are in a vault somewhere. We need good television like this back today.
I literally grew up with music all around me every day. I remember how much my dad liked Cass. He loved looking at Michelle, but preferred hearing Cass. She was one of the influences of my life.
Awww.She is so quiet here.Rather soft spoken” Though once she got comfortable in the interview, she’d relax. Easily to see this lady is very very intelligent! Her speaking voice? So quiet and soft as I’ve said. Soothing as well. Now her thick gorge hair ,big saucer eyes ….I’m sure she’d be fun af person to hang out with! Even go shopping. Thrifting in London) Wow! I love her wit love this interview! I’m so happy I stumbled across it! Oh man…..its sadly over? Cassandra ? But I heard Eleanor was in another interview) her preferred name to ref [ and birth name) can some fan. Help a chick other true fan of hers out by setting the birth name right? Guess by this must be Cassandra?.
@@AnthonyLago I know about stage names. I think I didn't make the connection at the time that Cass was supposed to be short for Cassandra. I had never heard that before since everyone called her Cass. I think he was trying to get at her real name and I just find the reluctance to tell it interesting. Olivia Colman, Meryl Streep, Woody Allen, and countless others all have stage names, but typically you see them fess up to it in interviews and things.
That seemed a bit weird to me to start with, but I realised he didn't mean anything by it - he meant she wanted to earn enough to put food on the table, that's all.
@@sg-yq8pm Unfortunately EVERY talk show host of the era, except Johnny Carson, and every reporter and interviewer would make comments. She was the 1st FAMOUS woman who was overweight. I remember when people 1st saw her they were appalled that a fat person would allow themselves to be seen in public. She endured great humiliation and ridicule for just trying to achieve her dream. We can't imagine today but it was a very different time.
That is a figure of speech in the music business, or artists in general, we do things so we can eat..., The term starving artists, or musician is a real thing, I speak from experience, and you are watching from 50 years of future bias and times were different then not as sensitive and comments were taken at face
I can believe he made such a nasty comment about her weight. What a pos! She wasn't that big! Yet that's all ppl ever saw of her, so sad she was so much more.
It's a musician thing, I played country music because I wanted to eat, it's a starving artist phrase, like the term starving artist, it wasn't meant as a diss, but a term of artistic direction
@@shable1436 I get that. Just seems like a poor choice of words giving Mama's size. Love seeing her interviewed. So clever and down to earth. What a talent!
