About The Carol Burnett Show
While there’s no truth to the rumor that “CBS” ever stood for The Carol Burnett Show, for eleven seasons and 278 episodes, this star-studded extravaganza of sketch comedy, song and dance became entertainment central for the network and TV viewers. Burnett operated in a relaxed theater setting that allowed her to take questions, cut loose with her famous Tarzan yell and join fellow performers Harvey Korman, Tim Conway, Vicki Lawrence and Lyle Waggoner to have a laugh or sing a song. The show received 25 Emmy Awards and eight Golden Globes, making it one of the most honored shows in television history.

For me, Mama Cass was the driving force behind The Mamas and the Papas. I'm glad she had success on her own. Everything about her was beautiful. Her pipes were just hypnotizing.

Gone too soon was Mama Cass, misunderstood and underappreciated, even by her own band, but I loved her voice, humor and talent. I have not been without "Dream a Little Dream of Me" on any musical storage device I've ever owned. It is haunting.

Mama Cass had such a beautiful voice... I remember listening to her sing when I was 4 in 1966. Her voice just made me feel like floating away to the Land of Dreams.

I was surprised to find out how many times she appeared on Carol's show in a relatively short period. This is from somewhere between 1970 and 1972.

I love hearing her sing, whether it was with the Mama's and the Papa's or as a solo artist. Her voice was just phenomenal. Beautiful, strong and vibrant. The music world lost something special when Cass Elliott passed away. And my first exposure to her was as Witchie-Poo on H.R. Pufnstuf. Loved that show. And the movie.

Even though this song IMO, may not have been one of her greatest works, ("Dream a Little Dream" will always be my favorite) Mama Cass's voice is so beautiful. May she sleep in eternal peace.

Cool costumes! And back then, gold lame’ wasn’t comfortable and I don’t think the material was stretchy. My mom made matching sparkly maxi-skirts out of some new material from So-Fro in 1973 and it was so itchy, but I loved the sparkle, sparkle, sparkle!!! I wonder if their outfits were itchy. Cool song, BTW.

It's too bad that the sexism of today allows only gorgeous female singers. They sure wouldn't have someone with as beautiful a voice as Cass Elliot had. Very sad.
