I love the set. I simply press play and put down the phone. As a dj, the last thing I want to do is cross the lines when another dj is performing. Too many critiquing on equipment, how she uses EQ. The audience must never become the artist. Be a dj when it's your turn but until then, support the culture and dance, stop pointing fingers...
We always had 3 rules when we went out which would always achieve a great outcome great crowd, great music and good etc etc. If mixing was amazing then it was a bonus. I have seen some of the best DJ's in the world struggle esp on vinyl. With technology it is slicker but I think people like Carl Cox have actually got better.
No hype, no flamboyant waving of the hands or body movement, no worshipping of the DJ. Just straight concentrated techno at its finest. The amount of times I`ve broken my neck to this mix is Immeasurable. Thank you Cassy. I see you`re from the UK, would love to see you live.
The best DJs in the business laying down 100% Vinyl sets at the record shops that mean the most to them. First up CASSY from the legendary HARD WAX, Berlin #recordstoreday2014
yeah the worst too, you think that D.guetta ever touched vinyl in his "reach" dj ing past??? o yes, when he brod a Clayderman to his wife.... p.s. In Tresor Berlin; never sleep( & some others)
Still coming back to this set years later. Everything about this screams 'class'. Love her energy and attitude (not to mention the impeccable mixing and selection). This set has inspired my DJing so, so much. 👏
I have to agree with everyone, aboslutley loving this set. I'm used to the housier Cassy so it's really nice to hear her techno-focused side. I watch a lot of DJ sets but this stands out - the pure concentration and programming is mesmerising. I also want to comment on the film direction - the isolation of each part of the mixing process (a camera for the mixer, each deck, record box etc) and the slightly awkward mid shot angles are really lovely. The framing both limits and brings into focus all sorts of things you wouldn't necessarily pick out if you just had a wide frame. Sure, there's rarely a full overview, but there's so much more detail/moments - beautifully done.
So pleased I found this, it will be played over and over. Many quality tunes here, the more you hear them, the more new things to hear. Cassy's passion for vinyl is clearly MASSIVE and it shines through in this mix... love it! 💜
Nothing compares to the vinyl, even the quality of the mp3. That emotion you feel before listening cleaning the vinyl, blowing over the pin and when listening with that slight background hiss. Wonderful!
DJ Cassy I love all those tracks you used in your mix set. Sister great beatmixing and you are not depending on any softwares and bpm counters. All your beat matching is done by your ears that's true old school djing. I wish you continuous success in your career Cassy!

Proper Techno set. Fantastic flow. CASSY knows how to treat Vinyl, cleaning ech Side before playing, spot on mix. BTW the set-up reminds me of my first DJ Set-up around 1998/99 2 1210Äs + ECLER SMAC 32 Totary version and the only real DJ headphones back then-Sennheiser's JD-25 600 Ohm version. But the NUO 3 is in another class, excellent Monitor sspeakers in a perfect record shop. Rave on CASSy + HARD WAX
quite like the way she doesn't even move in his vid, probably not even tapping her feet. seems like she has so much respect for the tracks, she just stands back and let the music speak for itself. 10/10.
I don't like it at all. It's hard to romanticise the fact that she's standing still and oddly swaying off rhythm to the beat....how can you be passionate about the music you're playing and be standing still?
I think she's standing still because she's that engrossed in the mix. Plus it's different to see someone who isn't head banging/fist pumping. She seems bang into the music.
Nathan P I don't think she's playing any ''banging'' music from what I can hear. Different ball game entirely. All the old school house dj's stand relatively still, so they can concentrate on what they're doing. No one's interested in seeing the DJ dance. That's what the music's there for.
For all the people who enjoy fighting. I've been with vinyl for a long time. Lets forget about its sound or how heavy it is etc. The main reason you will always create a better mix with vinyl than cdjs, or computer is that you are using only ears. You don't look. Looking is distraction, and will mess with your head. Same goes for production analog vs digital. And that is the only reason why digital world will never work with music. If you can't agree with this, you lack skill and technical knowledge of your gear. Keep up rocking Cassy! :D
Tester2244 I will have to disagree with you to some extent. First i would like to say that yes, vinyls are amazing, having the song on wax is just the best, but I cant agree with your statement "you will always create a better mix with vinyl than cdjs". You said that looking is distraction and will mess with your head, not necessarily distracting if you can for example, see your songs waveforms. Seeing how the song will progress at which point doesnt seem like a disadvantage to me. Also you can play a set with cdj's without looking at the screens at all (Other than maybe checking how the song progresses). In this case i dont see any reason why the cdj would be worse, since it is usually more precise and responsive to a record player. No hate here, just my thoughts!
Tester2244 I WOULD have to agree 100% Real djs play vinyl!, I'm just not impressed with cdjs or laptop djs it just seems to fake and easy.what happen to keeping it real?
ibuprofen303 Sure same thing as vinyl :) I also use it for the records I don't have. Maybe even better to practice on since you can damage the vinyl and replace it, while your favorite one might not be out there anymore :) Well I also enjoy painting timecodes to give them custom look :)
Wow, great set. Track 7 cracking. Enthused me to get the (vinyl) decks out after 7 years. I've got to say better feeling than playing mp3 on Tractor. However, can't beat two buck a track.

For me the best vinyl set video i ve seen, bringin amazing vibes with the location, filmin etc. Artist, and the biggest impact..that set :-) pure vinyl...
+Neptun Posidon I'm a dj mate and have been since 1993, I mix by ear not using BPM counters or the 'Sync' function like most so called dj's these days. I use Native Instruments Traktor Scratch Pro nowadays but with timecoded vinyl and so I can play all my tunes that I have on vinyl on mky pc instead so I don't have to ruin my precious vinyl. I recorded all my vinyl onto my computer so I don't ruin them but I still use timecoded vinyl and i'll never give up using vinyl. In my opinion if a so called dj can't mix by ear he's not a dj, plus I don't use hose CD turntables bollocks.
+DJ Teknovibe so you are using the "old"; final scratch? We stared around the same time my first Mixing experence was "pump up the valume" mixed the this is the Snap Cult of Snap.
+Neptun Posidon No, as I already mention i'm using Native Instruments Traktor Scratch Pro, sorry but I clearly mentioned that above if you can actually read English, lol
ibuprofen303 Hé hé thanks Now I look for this model to replace my poor cracky numark DM3002X 😚 Ecler made some really good mixer with nice looking too 😋
AXL trip Unfortunately I think they went bankrupt last year. Don't know whether they're in business again or not. You can still buy them though from certain outlets, or second hand.
From the first minute this kind of Techno Music motivate me moving my head and my body start moving. Thats the style i like !! Greetings to the "Omen" and "XS" ;-) (old Technoclubs in Germany)
nice set. funny still seeing the whole 'vinyl is better' thing still going in 2017. people who feel the way people play is more important than the music they play will eventually fade away. thank goodness! nice selection here!
