I'm probably going to upset some people, I removed the cast iron powerglide on my 58 Corvette, replace it with an aluminum powerglide. The main reason the cast iron transmission was leaking all the time we couldn't stop the leaks. So a transmission shop near me says it's so easy to put aluminum powerglide we will do it and he did it. As far as the cast iron powerglide I belonged to a Corvette club, and one of the members took the transmission right away.
The reverse band and the double wrap front band are getting more difficult to find replacement parts who do you recommend for replacement parts. Thanks
Hi, I’m working on a ‘61 Belair that’s been sitting for many years. All of the shift linkage had been removed. I put the linkage back on. When I put the trans in PARK, I can still turn the out put shaft by hand. Shouldn’t it be locked up? Is there something wrong? Thanks.
hi, take off the linkage at trans and select park manually to confirm, if you have park then your linkages need adjustment. if still has no park you may have broken parking pawl. cheers
@@YepThatsIt Hi, yes, I moved the selector by hand, and the out put shaft still doesn’t lock up. If it is the paw, do I have to pull and open up the trans? Thanks
