Cast iron grain mill - Restoration 

Welcome to today's video, where you saw the renovation of a cast iron grain mill with a tiller, which is marked M.F.E.
The history of the grain mill is connected with the development of agriculture and grain processing. Already in prehistoric times, a slightly sunken stone and a small manual crusher were used to crush grain. This primitive equipment was later replaced by manual rotary mills, so-called grist mills. Hand grinders were powered by human power, a person had to turn the rammer with a new wheel that provided grinding between the holding plates. This process required physical strength and endurance.
Manual threshers were also an important tool for agricultural communities, people also gathered at the thresher to process grain together and stockpile animal feed.
This activity not only provided food for farm animals but also strengthened the community spirit and created an opportunity to meet and share information.
Over time, grain processing technology has evolved and manual mills have been replaced by more modern and efficient ones, but there are still a number of companies that manufacture cast iron mills today.
However, the history of manual threshers reminds us of the importance of grain processing in the past. And how people relied on their physical strength and traditional technologies to get food.
