Casting A Custom License Plate Frame - Simple Aluminum Metal Casting

In this video I will be casting a custom aluminum license plate frame from scrap metal. I made a 3D model of the design in a previous video and printed it in PLA plastic. I then made a mold of the frame using casting sand. I melted down some scrap aluminum ingots from when I melted my entire boat and poured the molten metal into the sand mold. I then sanded down the edges and painted the letters to make them stand out before placing the new frame on my car. Please please please collect random metals in random sand using a magnet and them melt them. You can do whatever with it but I would really love to see that. also is this just a hobby or do you earn money off it.

With so many great projects, it makes it difficult to choose just one. However, the tongs video showed me that more than just simple tools can be made by hand. Outstanding lesson for anyone.

I really like the huge Aztec Pendant. There have been some other great things but that’s the main one I’d want. ❤ I love the time that’s put into these projects but recently I have been a fan of challenge coins and the occasional other metal castings.

Great frame! I kind of expected more vent holes though. Seeing the aluminum pop out at random (strategically placed) vent holes is always a welcoming surprise. And just saying, the Maui hook was one I got my kiddo interested in. Now he's 6 and watches you and D...

Really liked this project. Did you increase the overall dimensions of your 3D print to compensate for shrinkage of the aluminum? I was just curious how much it shrunk.

No I didn’t, it’s not really necessary for things that are thin as there isn’t much shrinkage at all.

I have to say I love anything coins related, but the angel blades from Supernatural would have to be my favorite. It could easily be overtaken by ANYTHING Fallout related...lol. Your ability to sand cast is virtually unmatched on RU-vid.

I like all of your videos, but if I had to pick one it would probably be the Dragon’s Egg. I also really like the tongs because repurposing things into useful tools is always cool. Also, I don’t post that many videos, but down here near Phoenix the Air Force can really cramp your style when you’re trying to film. 😂😂😂
