I don’t know why “Beulah land” is mainly used for funerals. It’s a beautiful song. I’m only 18 but I’m so tired of this evil world. I’m longing so much for the day He takes us home but I’ll worship him here while we’re waiting.

SWKMEMES sin curses everything we see. Longing for Beulah land is a heavenly minded hope that one day Jesus sets it all back right. Of course we worship here, but our hearts don’t belong here. We long to be with Him in holiness and perfect righteousness

It comes more often when we are old and we are just so tired and long to go home to rest in “ this peace I give to you. Not the peace of this world, but mine”. Jesus in the upper room. I/ most older folks experience that peace seldom here but there it will be eternal. Love you. Keep your eyes toward Jesus and out of nowhere a peace you’ve never known will come. Did me just when I needed His comfort so badly. A small taste of heavenly peace. Gotta do your work on earth first. Maybe short while or maybe a long one. Depends on God’s plan for you. Just always remember through the valleys and troubled times He’s right there with you to hold you up or carry til you rested and complete Gods plan.

I remember when I was a little girl this older woman at the church we went to would sing this. She has had lung cancer and a tracheostomy tube in her throat so some days she wasn't able to sing but the days she was able to she'd sing this so beautifully. She passed years ago but every time I hear this I'm back at that little old-fashioned church, sitting in a pew, and listening to her sing this.

My grandmother asked me to sing this song for her funeral. It took all I had by HIS grace I did that for her. This song spoke to me before she passed, but I still have trouble listening to it. Yet at the same time I LOVE to listen to it. Sleep in peace Grandma.

I listened to this almost every deployment...every field problem....and my TC and I would sing it in the truck whenever we hit a rough patch....honestly my favorite hymnal from when I was a boy. I sing this to my kids whenever they are down and out...Lord bless us with the serenity and peace to understand that it’s not much longer that we will be home

This was my dad's favorite song. When he was getting ready for his journey my great uncle would sing this song for him every day until his passing it brings so much joy and yes I'm ready for the day when my Savior takes his Bride home

Jesus changed my life one day. Now my desires are changed. I’m not focusing on the things of this earth but on the things that I can store up in heaven. I’m living my life to please the Lord. This song always brings me back to my early days when the Lord saved me by his wonderful Grace as a teenager; it meant so much to me, and it still does even more. At 19 years of age, it just made me hungry for the place my savior had prepared for me, how wonderful, how peaceful with my savior's presence forever and evermore! Thank you Jesus!

My beautiful 13 year old daughter would stay with her grandma, and great grandma. Her great grandma would be on a c-pap, my amazing daughter knew this was her ‘Mamams favorite song. She would stay up in the middle of the night, hold her hand and play this song to help comfort her, as her c-pap mask made her feel like she were suffocating. My grandmother just passed last Monday. My daughter sat and sobbed and her Mamam requested this song at her funeral. Bittersweet, I sat and tried to comfort my daughter, as she knew more about this song than I ever did. Such a proud moment for me, I knew then how good of a job my husband and I are doing raising our children. ♥️

I wish the title of this song would be corrected to "Sweet Beulah Land." It was written in 1973 and recorded by the writer Squire Parsons in 1979. I guess it is old---50 years---but it is not an "old hymn" from ages past. I love this version.
