I melted down an armored cable and poured some copper and aluminum cubes. Nothing fancy, but a fun melt all the same. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I did making it.
Aha a long anticipated video of a master at his craft. You have turned a boring piece of trash and convert it into a artisan set. Well done to you sir. Now take all the cubes and ingots and build a nice patterned wall or something. Great work and thank you.
Thank you sir!! I got so buried last week that I couldn’t even melt, I’m going to try and find a way to remedy that and get back on track. I don’t like missing a week. It really pains me not to melt and create a video of it to share. Thank you as always and give my love to you and your family!!
Man I love your videos! Can’t wait for my crucible and furnace to arrive! Very excited to learn more and get started! Your stack inspires me and hope to stack up alongside of you! I’m 26 and getting started now! I absolutely LOVE the mirror finish pieces! Can’t wait to do some of my own!!
Its so cool how the cubes turned red hot when you poured copper !! LOL you must of been reading my mind. I was thinking, how come he wont mirror shine one of them ? LOL Ohhh yeah purrty shiny shiny !! Great video, thanks for sharing !!
This is another awesome episode! I love that splitter. I bought a case for my treasures and now I need to paint or decorate it. I will email pics when I’m done.
The copper sheaving around the large cable was a bit of a bonus, for sure! 👍 I'd be tempted to want to make one of those copper cubes into a more accurate cubic shape as well as polishing it and, perhaps, like seen elsewhere have the atomic number and chemical symbol placed on it.
I was tempted too, but the amount of material to chunk off 😬 Actually just yesterday I was trying to use a laser engraver at the office to put the periodic table info on it. I need some Cermark spray though that I won’t have until Tuesday.
Well, what took you so long to melt that thing!?! It's awesome! What else are you hiding in that garage of yours? Detailed instructions on an a beautiful girly project? With flowers or boats and dolphins??? 🤣😂😜
@@alexanderwoolley1623 Bigstackd didn't invent the wheel, he just put it on camera 😎 Only reason this looks like a rip off is because there's very little channels dedicated to smelting, just look at all the farming and metal detecting channels, they're all very similar because they're all about the same thing. lol
Mmmm, cubes. Especially love the one that you polished up all the way around. Btw, where'd you get your crucibles and molds again...PMC Supplies? Gonna check with bigstackD as well to see if he got his from a different supplier so I can cross reference prices & reviews.
I do get my crucibles from PMCsupplies. Most molds too. I have gotten the little coin molds from ArtByAdrock. @@TheGrowingStack Got one of my crucibles in and gonna get the other 2 in a day or so, need info on prepping them for use....PMC didn't send instructions. Got the #6-8KG today, the other 2 will be 6KG crucibles
I would like to have cables like that to scrap toooooo😳🤤...great job again !😎 Question, why did u have to replace ur burner ? Wasn't working properly ? The scrapping n melting was fun to watch...love ur homemade music too Ty n see you soon
Thank you Carl. Yeah, it was definitely a fun cable to tear down. I’m kind of sad to see it go to tell you the truth, it was such a beast leaning in the corner for so long. So the burner… I noticed a couple of melts before I replaced it, the furnace in general was smelling kind of funny when I was melting. Almost like a weird chemical burning smell, not sure how to describe it, but one of those smells you know something isn’t quite right, ya know. The mouth of the burner is supposed to be flush with the inside wall; well since it had deteriorated so much and receded into the wall, it was still sending the flame like it should but it was also burning the inside wall of the ceramic wool directly. I had never thought to look at the burner on a regular basis to check its well being. Once I replaced it, back to normal. I’ll probably have to(and should anyways considering its condition) replace the entire wool lining and give it a fresh work up here pretty soon. 👍

I just bought the cube graphite mold for cheep on Amazon and they turn out nice. But I’m having a problem getting copper to melt. I turn the propane pressure up to 1.2 and after 10-15 minutes the pressure automatically starts dropping and it never gets hot enough to melt it. I just got a new tank so it’s not that and the pressure gage is new also. So I’m stumped. Any advice?
You shouldn’t have any trouble melting copper at .012 MPa. Where are you located and your environment conditions? Not that it should matter that much, but I’ve had that problem when my tank starts to freeze and starts dropping pressure.
Because it’s easier to say something like 90 grams vs 3.17466 ounces. I also started out stacking silver, and I have 31.103 grams burned into my brain as a Troy oz. I know both very well, but I do think it’s just easier even though I live in the USA. 👍
@@vincedibona4687 I have a white collar job and I work from home. My brother in law used to be able to get me some from plumbing jobs, but since the prices have gone up its harder and harder to come by.
@@KrakenCasting I find appliances with power cords all the time. Snipped two on the way home from work today, as well as snagged a "dorm fridge" off the side of the road. People don't stop throwing things away, and they have no idea what those things can be worth. I love seeing a brass bed being thrown away!
“What am I doing?” Then comes the wire stripper!! Totally hilarious! Another fantastic video from the one and only “GROWINGSTACK!!” THAT MIRROR FINISH CUBE IS EPIC!!!
Nice to see a new vid buddy! Great pour today! Nice length of cable! Yielded many cool copper blocks, and a few aluminum too! (more aluminum than I thought) Thanx for a great vid! 😄
