Good question I basically framed out a triangle one side was mounted to the existing seat and at the point I had two bolts that I was able to mount a metal brack to hold the frame at the front. Let me know if you have more questions
@@BCBackwaters yes how did you attach the metal brack? its hard to see the very front. Im not very good at this stuff but i think i can figure it out if i could see that or know how you did that? did you weld something?
@@johndiez2746 I bent a piece of steel and drill two holes in it and you know where you attach your crank strap on the front of the boat well normally that is bolted on from the inside so I just slide my bracket over those same bolts. I hope that makes sense
I know this vid is old but was curious about the foam inside the bench. Can I pop the top off the bench and scrape the foam out to make storage? Thoughts?
Good question, I don’t recommend it only because this foam will keep your boat afloat if it happens to get flipped or fills with water. I know a lot of guys who still do it and it creates lots of storage.
The seat base is screwed through the casting deck into two 2x4 which I cut away some foam inside the bench in order to make these fit and used some lag bolts and pre drilled the holes so the 2x4 wouldn’t split. If you have any other questions let me know.
I'm thinking of doing a floor in the same boat. For the floors you constructed, can you tell me what the installed distancenis between your rear floor and the top of the rear (driver bench), as well as the distance from the top of middle bench to the top of your front floor (not casting deck)? In hindsight would you raise or lower the floors, or keep the same). Thank you.
I did a long time ago and definitely slowed it down quite a bit but ended up changing the prop and it gained some back. It was fast enough for me and even had boat full of people and it got one plane.
good vid. have a few questions. what did you use to attached the casting deck to the back end of the bolts for the bow eye? also what size plywood thickness did you use? do you find it holds your weight well on it or is it too thin?
Michael Hamilton Thanks should of went into a little more detail on this part of the casting deck. I used a piece of metal and bent it into an angle to hold the front of the platform using the eyebolts on the front of the boat. I used half inch plywood as you can see by the framing there is no flex and I weigh around 220 and never any issue
I like this build and have been looking at doing it for my own WC16. Did you notice much change in the overall stability of the boat with a slightly raised floor? It looks good!
