This was super interesting, and I agree with beatniece, Stacey Wilson is by far the most pleasant and competent interviewer.

This was so AMAZING and informative. It helps to hear about what CDs go through. I am always so happy to get in front of the casting personnel. I think it's the thrill of trying to entertain and impress them with my work.

Very interesting Roundtable. I appreciate the section where you all speak of the strengths you have as women and what those bring to your success in doing your job. I see this is 2013, maybe that kind of talk would be more difficult today (everyone on social media is looking for someone to burn for whatever reason they can.) and it's just true. We all have our own strengths and weaknesses. I just moved to LA and while I'm primarily writing, I hope to run into some of y'all someday for future opportunities.

Can you please host this again? I am very curious to hear about the era of the self tape from the casting director’s POV.

This was fantastic. I urge all aspiring actors, directors and producers to watch this. These people are the lynchpin to success.

As someone who may need to make some casting decisions, in the near future, for the very first time, I appreciate these experienced, successful casting directors sharing some wisdom they've gained throughout their careers. And thank you THR!

They were awfully quiet on the subject of diversity. I would have liked a little more push from the interviewer especially given the year we've had for television and film.

I think casting directors would receive more credit if such a large percentage of them didn't charge actors money to be seen ("workshops").

Very helpful to understand that the casting directors are under this budget pressure for high profiles to help the movie on a creative and budget worthy level so it pays back. Dig the the fact the the scary guy got the job that maybe nobody liked because he was a sell gives my art side outside of society side hope that is my heart before I accepted acting into my life ..

I see that we need more diversity within the “casting” community…like I notice mostly older white women…who fumble awkwardly through the diversity discussion….

I met Juliet Taylor decades ago, she was very kind. This was before my BA, before Strasberg, before I did anything. Looking back I feel like a total idiot about that day, handing her a video of some school play I did, which she probably never watched and I hope she doesn't lol Before you contact a casting agent, get some training, some local experience, read, write, learn. We live, we learn and if we stick with it, we make lemonade

It's a good idea. When are we going to see an Editors Roundtable? And I don't even care that you guys never use an actual round table.

How is it still a thing that gay men/women cannot play the romantic lead, and actors hesitate in being cast as gay characters?!? They are ACTORS. No one bats a lash when they play a murderer, or a saint... It's their job, it does not say ANYTHING about who they are in real life. Baffled.

THEY ALL SEEM TO GO SILENT AS PATRICIAS SAYS THIS = 11:20 CURIOUS... WERE THEY FEARFUL OF SOMETHING?

Internships are for children of wealthy people, it excludes poor and working class people. That's the point. It fast tracks the kids whose parents can subsidize them so it keeps the jobs in the elite families. Besides, unpaid work is slavery which is illegal.

What are some of your take aways from this?

I understand why they cant talk about conflicts with directors/producers regarding certain actors. having said that, without this information its kind'a boring....

I actually agree with these ladies about having an advantage in this field being a woman. But I cant imagine THR letting a guy say something like this. At least thats what I get from the interviews lately.

Casting "agents", you mean?

This was really interesting!!! But the lady being overly humble -- if you don't want to answer questions, why do a roundtable? Nevertheless, all the women told some good stories. As for the negative people in the comment section LOL you are just jealous that they are rich and successful and you are not.

These bitches act like there job is so important. Most of the great directors work exclusively with the actors they want and love not ones that casting directors love. Casting and producers work together to maximize profits by casting some flavor of the week. They do more harm than good in most of the situations.

Grrr...interesting but that blonde woman in black ruins it for me. I think if she was edited out, the content of this episode would still be solid. She talks too much overtaking the more experienced women, also she doesn't mainly work on movies.

Some of the questions she asks are really condescending and judgemental towards actors.

These women are inspiring! I agree, internet is opening and closing doors for actors. You can't replace 'vis a vis'.
