Hi:) This time I have prepared a video for you that is a little different than usual, because creating this scene took me quite a lot of time, and it would be really hard to watch it with normal speed design:) I am also pleased to inform you that the partner of this episode is Nature Manufacture, thanks to which I was able to create everything you see in the video. And I think you know me well enough, that I never promote assets on my channel that I wouldn't use myself, and that are not of really good quality. So I can honestly say that if you are looking for something to create a medieval castle, the newest asset from Nature "Modular Castle & Dungeon" will be perfect for it:) Have a nice week:)
- this time, due to the Easter holidays and April 1, I am posting the video on Tuesday and not on Monday as usual:)

I love the way how the scene builds up with the objects flying in position and the vegetation spawning to get a better before/after feeling.

I'm glad you like this speed design format, because I was just curious about the viewers' reaction to the slightly different format of this type of video:)

This is much better format of the speed design video. Most of the speed design videos are hard to watch (at least for me), because the screen flickers so much and everything is so fast, this was much more enjoyable. The viewer does not see the world being created in realtime, but I think a short section at the end of the video, where some more difficult aspects / highlights of the scene are talked about would make up for it. Keep up the good work!

Thank you:) I was very curious whether such a speed design format would be interesting, I would definitely have to improve it, at least with post-processing settings or more important elements, because many people learn a lot from such videos, but if more people would like such a format, it is a good start , because everything is shown in order anyway, and yet typical speed designs can be tiring to watch due to the speed of the camera not only for you:)

Beautiful as ever. Except that whenever there was a view looking at the water with some vegetation, there was some kind of shading issue. When there was vegetation (trees, bushes) with water in the background, the vegetation kind of shaded the water below the leaves and branches. I don't know if it's a video artifact, water shader problem, or three shader problem, but it was very noticeable.

This happens when using screen space reflection, because it is not perfect, and if one object obscures the object behind it, this object is not reflected in the water surface, which is why such strange artifacts occur. Of course, you can try to correct this with reflection probes, but very often it is simply accepted as a limitation of the engine:)

It is great!!!! After a few seconds I started to smile (1min15sec)... my mouth was up to my ears by the end :) A fantastic presentation! Congratulations :) (if it takes 18 hours for you to make it, then 90 for me :) )

I'm glad you liked this new video format:) I think I'll use it instead of standard speed designs for larger scenes. It wouldn't be that bad:) there are a lot of prefabs, but once you figure out where to put them, it's very easy in use:)

I definitely prefer HDRP, or URP, but maybe I'll try something like that someday:)

I think you should make more tutorials and start patreons😊
@SetaLevelDesign

I would just have to think about what to offer as a patreons in return:) As for the tutorials, new ones appear on the channel successively, maybe one day they will be more frequent, but preparing them takes a lot of time and it's hard to combine it with other duties, because RU-vid is not my main job for now:)

Very good job! The environments that you create are stunishing, nice presentation also! Do you have any guide that you use to assemble a scene/think about it?
@SetaLevelDesign
@SetaLevelDesign 3 месяца назад
Thank you:) first I come up with a main theme (whether it should be, for example, a forest winter scenery or an old building before a storm), then I create an outline of the location in my head, I sketch the layout of the map on paper, I look for reference photos to get inspiration on how, for example, the stones should decompose. If I don't know something, I look for information about, for example, how castles were built, whether there was always a courtyard there, what it was used for, where the defensive walls were built, etc. to have an outline of what it looks like in reality and why it is there. Then I make corrections to the sketch, search for matching models and only then I start creating the scene. In the case of video and speed design, it is much easier because you do not have to deal with such details as in the case of level design, where you analyze, for example, how far the player can jump, whether it should be a simple jump or a challenge, whether he can climb walls or not, etc. Generally, preparing to create a scene takes me a few hours:)

always loved your videos. This scene is fantastic. Can you guide me as i am creating my portfolio as environment artist/level designer?
@SetaLevelDesign
@SetaLevelDesign 3 месяца назад
Thx:) For your enviro portfolio, you need several scenes built as best as you can, to show that you can build different environments, ranging from an ordinary meadow to a futuristic city. As for the level design, here it can actually be a blockout, but the level must be fully playable, taking into account such things as type of gameplay, map assumptions, its layout, challenges, level dynamics, etc., so you show in such a portfolio that you know how to create a map so that it fully works in terms of gameplay:) I recommend you to watch the channel Steve Lee (Level and Game Design) because I think you will learn a lot of interesting things there when it comes to level design and what it looks like:)

Hello sir. i have a question. where did you get the inspiration for level design??
@SetaLevelDesign
@SetaLevelDesign 2 месяца назад
In level design, it all depends on whether it is to be character based, non-character based, etc level, but it is mainly guided by the assumptions that are created for the current level, and what, for example, the dynamics of the gameplay should be. When it comes to enviro design in the form of such videos, the main theme usually comes to me and then it just needs to be expanded:)
