Germany is home to thousands and thousands of castles, so we thought what better way to explore the country than to stop by some! In this video we explore: Marksburg Castle, Cochem Castle, Eltz Castle, and even make a quick stop to Stolzenfels Castle. Hello Folks, This video was a great continuation of the 1st Castle road trip. I am so looking forward to going to the castles that I have to been to yet. I loved them all but I agree with Zack, I want to check out the hotel castle for sure. Oh yeah, I love the drone work and your video as a whole. I am so looking forward to my trip in a few weeks to magnificent Germany.

I remember the Burg Elze this mainly because my friend Nancy M, slipped on the gravel walking down to the entrance. Didn't get hurt. Great visit. When we traveled in the 90"s we only had large paper road maps, and always said someday we are going to run out of road, and we did, ended at the lane of a farmer's work lane to a field. Lol Thanks, again, will be watching all your videos

8:49 there are still about 25.000 castles, palaces and stately (aristocratic) homes in Germany

It's a shame that you couldn't get a tour on Stolzenfels. This was the summer castle of the Prussian prince and it has all the original furniture from back then. Greetings from Koblenz.

Right in the same neighborhood of your castle stay (Sankt Goar, one village over) is Rheinsfels Castle. Totally different as it's a ruin and was one of favorites as it has not been restored. You can wonder around for hours. Of all of King Ludwig's castles, Linderhof is imho the best.

Quick side note: Burg Eltz was used on the backside on the old 500 DM banknote from 1963 until 2001. It is still a valid means of payment if you can find the banknote. ;-) de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datei:500_DM_Serie3_Rueckseite.jpg

I think there is about 25.000 Burgen in Germany and about 40.000 in hole of Europe. About 2000 are in use the rest are ruins.

Good thing that you tried the wine. It's the wine area of Germany after all. One place I think you missed is Burg Rheinfels. To be fair, it's more a ruin than anything else, but is has maybe the most awesome location, being in St. Goar, in the wunderful Rheintal. The place is mostly famous for the "Lorelei". There are also two additional castles, called "Katz" (cat) and "Maus" (mouse).

It would take about 70 years to visit every castle in Germany when you go for one a day. After that, you can start your tour in France, the UK or Spain.
