This is a hidden gem located in Largs, Ayrshire on the west coast of Scotland. Maybe it's just that the modern extension hadn't been finished at the time of this recording. Looks almost as if it has yet to be stone faced in this area. It is a rather peculiar look ..like a 1930's Art Deco Miami stucco house jutting out of a medieval castle.

Agree. What was done here looks like a hideous assault to the real charm and true character of the entire structure.

Well good to see it some way saved don't like the painted ceiling indoors tho more of these old buildings should be saved an kept as close to natural state. How much is it per night to stay.?

It would be nice to stay and see if anywhere close by for metal detecting.

Hi there, a lot of it will come down to personal taste, but yes, we agree it is so nice to see these old buildings preserved. This castle starts at £2223/week and it does accept short breaks but this is usually for a minimum of two nights. If there are any dates you are interested we can help you figure out the rate. I'm afraid I hate the modern furniture and art etc. Even my own flat is all decorated as the medieval Tudor Court. It looks amazing. If I only had a mini castle like this to put it all in.....The old wooden close stool is great. I love the spiral staircase and the attic bedroom but I'd have it done in royal colours of red and purple velvet and satin. I won't have anything beige or brown or neutral in my house.

The extension is not to everyones taste but the inside is so cool! The turret viewpoint gives an amazing view :-)

Where do they keep their dish soap? Get on with the tour......7 minutes in and we are still in new part of the building.... Like I said... Where do they keep their dish soap? B O R I N G !! 15th Dislike
