'Pat orgasms talking about how great REmake 2 is' 'Woolie posts a clip titled "Resident Evil ReMake is ok"' Why do I get the feeling that clip title is just to mess with Pat? XD
1:45 suddenly turns into shrink session about Pat's addiction to beating it *gimme a number? this week* "17 - 18 hours..." "I've beaten it four times, since Thursday night" *each configuration?* "NO!"
If Woolie’s a fake Kirby fan because he didn’t start with the first one, isn’t Pat also a fake Resident Evil fan because he didn’t start with the first one?
I'm actually totally fine with sexless Resident Evil. Literally every other game out there with at least 1 male and 1 female character has a romance subplot. It's okay to just want to shoot zombies.
Look around you, everything you see is the full video. For the full video is the universe itself. The full video has been around since the very beginning, when our universe was still in its infancy. Everything you, I, and everyone else hold dear is the full video. We are in the presence of something greater.
I dunno. I'm down with Woolie's "the flow of time in Raccoon City is convoluted" theory. Also, I think the RE1 PS1 director's cut music director was actually faking being deaf.
Holy shit, I'm not taking shot's but these twos chemistry is so much better in a podcast and gaming together than anything with Matt. I think where Matts talent shines is in production and marketing of the products, he has a really good mind for it. These two are content creators, not producers.
I kind of disagree, but I see why you would think that. I think Matt can be quite entertaining too, and my personal favorite is when all 3 are interacting (which sadly will never happen again).
I disagree to a point but it definitely seems like Matt feels more at ease and natural with Liam nowadays (obviously now I suppose). Watching them together reminds me of the early days of Super Best Friends, like the RE2 LP with Matt and Pat.
Pat is without a doubt the most clever by nature, Matt like parroting jokes too much for my taste, Woolie is good for reeling pat in when he gets to far gone.
@@IggyBang I will grant you that Matt is a bottomless bag of Simpsons, Homestar and wrestling references. But he's also got some of the most genuine laughs out of me, particularly in the L.A. Noire playthrough "Woolie, YOU THOUGHT SHIT WAS RAW IN TRAFFIC!!"
@@GreedAndSelfishness you do realize that technology was not that great back then? Like yo back then when I first played it, those were like life like graphics
The whole convo around 46 minutes made me reminisce so much. That's why we loved watching you guys play games together, A lot more of those feelings of watching people deal with stuff you maybe be used to like one of my favorite playthroughs was the ones with woolie playing through any of the darksouls games and pat being a smartass or giddy when a enemy is around the corner etc etc. Sorry to bring it up I just love you guys no homo nerds
20:00 “They have never hit anyone and have never successfully poisoned anyone.” That’s some next level Crazy Talk. Go watch Pat’s stream of RE2 original.
Yeah the whole 2nd run thing is the thing that bothers me the most. They said constantly that A/B scenarios are cut to make the two campaigns more unique, alright they are a bit more unique but why are we fighting the same exact bosses in the same exact way? Like what the fuck. And it wouldnt even bother me so much if the enviornments wouldnt be so clearly untouched by the character that you played before the 2nd run. Like Pipe birkin fight. The catwalk is magically up and untouched when youre coming the second time around. I think what they were going for is that, the game doesnt show Leon for example, as the Leon who you played as that beat Birkin bosses and all that, it shows Leon who you never played as, and you never know what he went trough and how. He's just gone to every place before you, luckily avoiding all bosses.
@@TheStrxggler I love that Super Tyrant does the EXACT same taunt as RE1 Tyrant. When he brings his clawed arm to his face before shaking it off to the side? Nice callback.
Yeah, the Only hint of on screen romance in the RE universe is: Claire and Steve, the least beliveable romance ever. As well as Sherry and Jack Muller, kinda cute.
The climax of Leon and Ada teaming up in RE6 was super hammy if not romantic. Hell, In Ada's scenario, you get a panoramic camera as Leon defends her semi-conscious body.
Spoiler alert !!! 25:03 is he talkin about Mr.X? because i'm pretty sure in the story they dropped 6 of them on racoon city to do the clean up not only one if i recall correctly so it makes sense after the birkin bit, right?
That and there's probably a couple more in the lab, like the one in Outbreak (as far as I've seen. I've never actually played Outbreak, just seen a clip or two here and there.)
The 5 others were in charge of taking care of the US military in town that you see near the end of RE3, Mr. X is (at least in the original game) the only Tyrant present in the RPD with the mission to retrieve the G sample as well as kill all police officers or survivors found in the precinct. In the remake it's unclear whether that detail was changed or not because there's just no documentation or info about it at all, so it's unknown whether there's multiple Mr. X or if it's just that the scenarios don't have continuity, which was always a thing in RE games so I don't see why Pat is so surprised by it, but not by the fact that in Remake 1 Chris can save Jill from jail, but Jill also can save Chris from there.
@@williamzou8833 It's too soon to talk about a RE3 Remake yet, and even if there were one, it might not follow the same canon and continuity as Remake 2, since Remake 2 itself doesn't follow Remake 1's storyline accurately, the existence of John is completely removed since now Ada has a new cover and is a mercenary instead of a spy.
It showed up first in the novelization, the name "Mr. X", because Claire and Sherry didn't have access to the official names, they made up their own names for everything. They also called Lickers "inside-out men" (Edit): Wait he addressed it.
I mean......technically there's romance in 7, in that the main character is trying to save his wife. Also how come Ethan was able to resist the mold like he did (In that he resisted it more than anyone.) (It's confirmed he was infected during the game.) and how The Uncle from the DLC was just somehow immune?
I think a bigger deal than Palpatine's name not being said is that "ewok" isn't said in Return of the Jedi, or any movie, and yet everyone knows what they're called.
Wh-where was it first mentioned? Because I believe you, but I can’t remember where I first heard the name… it’s like… I always knew the name and I am getting anxiety thinking about it. I’m guessing they got the name from the toy, but I never had an Ewok toy…
If I start a RU-vid gaming channel, it would definitely be called "Panic Attacks in Paradise." That said, I also strongly encourage Woolie to try the original RE2 at some point. It still holds up incredibly well (I only recently played it last year, along with RE1 and 3), and even though I'm not a fan of horror games (or reliving games of that era, in general), I was totally hooked by RE2's remarkably fine-tuned gameplay. Furthermore, one of the amazing things about REmake is that it doesn't end up invalidating the original RE2. The experiences you get from either game is unique enough to warrant keeping and replaying both games, something that can't be said about straight remakes like Shadow of the Colossus.
I've never played the original RE2 or this remake, and I'm not a huge fan of Fallout 4, but the memes that Mr. X is a super roided out Nick Valentine is the funniest thing in the world.
I realize this is a month late but Mr X does something incredible for this game. After a certain point the police station becomes familiar and loses a lot of tension but then you advance to where X shows up and he is now chasing you providing tension again and then placing other enemies in the hallways again makes you feel trapped and constantly on edge again
Pat's crazy talk in the REmake vid on sbfp literally fucked me over on my first play thru when he said the dogs never jump thru the window the glass cracking is just to fuck with you lmao needless to say they jumped thru the damn window
Disclaimer: I stopped listening to this segment/video about 6 minutes in because it autoplayed and I didn't realise, because I am playing the Resident Evil remake for the first time right now and I don't want any spoilers... and I've somehow dodged spoilers for it all my life, save a few minor ones. ANYWAY, to talk on Pat's anxiety about remaking a brilliant title of olde and how it resonates with new players, I'm having an incredible time. Two factors that might impact this sentiment for me specifically are 1. I'm in my mid-twenties so I remember this era of video games, younger players might not be so forgiving 2. I'm good at adapting to older games mechanically, as well as general 'harshness' of saving systems/puzzles etc that the 90's is famous for. In any case, I think that this title has the sort of makeup that'll cause it to age well inherently. Compared to other horror games of the same era like Silent Hill 1 & 2 (which are obviously great titles), the lonely and eerie atmosphere of basically looping through this mansion, over and over trying to figure out obscure bullshit (playing blind lol) to the point where you're not on guard anymore and then you notice a small difference in a room you've been in a million times, or a zombie who's been dead for hours jumps you suddenly when you're not expecting it, is such a sick concept that its frightening nature defies animation standards in my opinion. Silent Hill, in my opinion, can't age as well because you're expected to mow through enemies or consistently run past them and the NOW shot animation of these enemies kinda kills the scary vibe, but I'm SUPER scared playing through this. Moderately hard to very hard puzzles, hardly any ammo, ink ribbons as a system, and the inventory combination system are all super refreshing 90's staples and I'm enjoying the challenge... the only thing that I wish I had was a good stomp.
Pat is living in lala land about the music. The original music is great but it doesn't work well in the Remake mainly because the original was based on every room having a loading screen, so sudden huge shifts in music felt ok. But in the remake when you can fluidly run between rooms without any load screen the music feels way too abrupt and the new soundtrack is much better for it.
Never going to happen(at least decently) but we can always dream. It would require some of the original key devs though. Silent Hill isnt as easy to remake as RE.
that bit about DC is very real. I played it with my wife, and after we finished it, I thought there would be a new game+ or something more to play....but yeah, that was it......
Revelations is about co-op? Did pat get into the drugs again? Rev1 was a single player game, and Rev 2 almost didn't have co-op until people had a freakout over it.
22:04 Hmmm, was Woolie doing a subtle jab at when Matt talked out his ass about Nier Automata having nothing to do with Nier and claiming he beat the game because he got ending A?
The first zombie encounter on the original Resident Evil was too spooky so I never beat it. I skipped the 2nd one because I didn't know it existed and instead was too busy playing dino crisis until Nemesis which is my equivalent to Pats resident evil 2. I cant wait for its remake so I can get those feels too, also now that I think about it all those hours with Regina might be the reason I'm into Redheads.
I'm still confused on the enemy he said was removed in the original only to show as a boss in this one. I can't think of what he is possibly talking about.
The spiders are replaced by the Gs. G creatures replace them as the poison enemy of the game and Ivy’s are not just regenerators. They’re super regenerators. They instantly kill you if you don’t have a knife/grenade regardless of health and they don’t even die if you shoot the weak spots. They just pretend to be dead and get up afterwards. You gotta burn them completely.
What is annoying as fuck is, Mr. X will not damage any other enemies to get to you. The "shove" move on the zombies does no damage, god forbid he did any damage to them to make your life a bit easier next time you have to go through that area. Even at the parts where it is lickers and him after you, they will each completely ignore the other and just come for you. They will not even hit each other when they are pressed against one another, wildly swinging at you.
I guess best way to think of the campaigns in REmake 2 is to think it not like RE2 scenarios but more like REmake 1. The Leon you play as is not the same Leon that you meet in Claires campaign.
Man, it sucks watching this years later, with Pat super happy with Resident Evil 2 Remake, knowing how dissapointed Pat will be with Resident Evil 3 Remake once it comes out a year later.
He did still enjoy the Resident Evil 3 Remake (as did I) but nowhere near as much as the Resident Evil 2 Remake and that's honestly fair. I really enjoyed my run through the RE3 Remake but boy did it suck to have the Clocktower cut out, no flaming Nemesis phase, bigger explorable city, and even the rushed length was very disappointing. It's a really good game that genuinely deserved much more time in development to add all of that content I mentioned above. The existence of the multiplayer component explains why the game got shafted a bit content wise.
Tyrant is a designation by Umbrella. "Ivan" in Umbrella Chronicles is the most effective pursuer "nemesis" type, "Talos" is the largest. At least, I THINK Talos was a tyrant. Not sure. Mostly just means "large humanoid that's heavily resistant to small-arms fire".
"Tyrant" has always been a classification. In RE1 there is the T-002 Tyrant. RE2 is the T-103 Tyrant. RE3 has Nemesis. RE CV has the T-087 Tyrant. RE0 has the T-001 Tyrant. And yes, TALOS is a tyrant.
i know nobody likes this answer, but Resident Evil 2 is four discrete timelines. Leon A, Leon B, Claire A, and Claire B are all seperate. I know it's convenient to want Claire A/Leon B to be one timeline and vice-versa for the other, but it's not. There's four retellings of the events of the game by unreliable narrators. I look at it like four recreations of events after the fact by investigators. "We know that this thing happened here, but based on the evidence and sequence of events, can you recreate for us what might have happened?" "Well, sir, there's two ways this might have played out..."
I've noticed the aim-assist will sometimes kick in after you get grabbed when you play 4th survivor. It might be a handicap for people playing with controllers
