This, he should have been "I open my cape and fire everything ever because I now have no limits on this shit." I love it how they also forgot to translate SomaCula's clear entry quotes, which for this one was probably "Come on then Alucard!" or something along the lines of him beckoning the guy. Julius is just him scathing in rage saying Belmont.
I know, right? I think Soma's story was a nice change for the series (Dracula reviving over and over again) so when I knew you could fight Soma as Julius I was excited just to find out he is one of the crappiest Draculas ever. I know this is the 'extra mode' in the game (thus less content) but come on!
Sad though that most dark lords like me have more selection in abilities then the ol count has, and im a Shadow Dragon no less! Heck i summon minions to my aid why don't he?! Makes you wonder whats going through his mind.
limitless power!!!! behold my few selection of spells that u can super easilly dodge... fucking hell nightmare from metroid is alot more dangerous and makes soma look like a damn newbie playing for the first time... o cool this is a demon u can summon >.> i would of used so many different shit on them like ... crap i forgot dawns spells xD i remember most from aria cuz i owned that for years the HP/MP swap would be so crap against a player... especcially when they spam spells and summons u just swap and instakill them
@@KevinBelmontLuna I think he is slightly younger than gen z. He is a teenager in 2036, hardly older than the average age of gen zs in the present day.
Rondo of Blood left such an impact in the CastleVania series, so much so that its sprites (like Dracula's beast form) were still being used years later in these sequel games!
Hey, don’t fix what ain’t broken and it was made by Igarashi which is Famous as the guy who makes full fledge game at a string shoe budget at at Konami (very fucking smart use of his potential Konami), most of the stuff in Dawn of Sorrow is original and in Portrait of Ruin, nearly all, same with Order of Ecclesia Yeah, the 2 3D game who I’ll be honest, is a mix bag but an enjoyable mix bag with alot of content, story and dialogue cutscene is made with the mind that it’s at the same levels of a 2D game budget and it SUFFERS from it
second form is the same of castle 1 and Harpy familiar probably is reference to Haunted Castle when you arrive at Dracula chambers and found one before him shows up
Soma is just the reincarnation of Mathias aka Vlad/Dracula not actually the same Dracula. Reincarnation is weird because of that. So Soma is and always will be Soma. Alucard's father has been permanently gone in every conceivable way outside of this actual reincarnation since 1999. Now, if you think THIS is weird, may I introduce you to Kagome in Inuyasha? Lol
It's the arrogant villain and arcade boss trope. That's not likely to die anytime soon unfortunately although I will admit Graham Jones was better about this.
@@raptorlewis273 I mean it was still a bonus mode. And realistically, a boss that even approximates a player's movement and arsenal would have been pretty difficult with that budget. Only time something similar was done on the DS was the Megaman ZX Omega fight, at least as far as I'm aware.
@@NerdyGamer-lq9nc Actually, yea. Soma Cruz becomes Dracula after losing his girlfriend, Mina, Celia killed Mina inside the Garden of Madness. And also in Julius Mode, you fight Soma Cruz as the final boss. Plus, I love Soma Cruz, and he's my first main in Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, Story Mode only (1 player only challenge), and it saddens me that I have to kill my favorite character... At least it's not the canon ending.
You know what I find funny? Aria and Dawn are literally "Castlevania in teh future!" and they did it right, it doesn't even feel silly like the premise would lead you to believe.
Pretty much AOS tooks place after demon castle war, and in it is where Soma must destroy chaos to destroy castlevania once and for all (seriously, out of the CV games, you actually fight the heart of the titular castle itself, phase 1 being the three statues, and the second phase being a smol black circle) though after doing that, then DOS is the final, and i mean, the FINAL piece in the original castlevania timeline, the reason cuz soma resist the influence of his minions trying to bring their lord back from the grave, and how the last cult is "trying to restore balance by making a new dark lord" apparently that failed as soma/dracula lives a happy life with his friends
@@terrancebloxlore3209 But Alucard also says at the end that if the world needs a Dark Lord it will emerge, even if it's not Soma...basically hinting at the fact that another Mathias/Dracula will one day arise to take his place independent of any meddling from any cults or Soma one day giving in to his dark side. Seems like the timeline could continue one day.
@@terrancebloxlore3209 Yeah, but as was established in Dawn of Sorrow Soma doesn't need to turn for there to be another Dark Lord because the Dark Lord is a necessity to the universe. They purposely left it open for a possible continuation to the series, or a chapter 2 if you will. I would love to see them continue it one day and see who is the new Dark Lord and who is the new Belmont Clan that holds them at bay, and also what their new weapon would be.
@@ls190v2 Its not his Japanese name per-say. Arukado is just how they typically pronounce Alucard. Alucard is still his name even in Japan. The same way Dracula is Dracula in Japan, not Dourakura or however they'd say it out loud.
Man I loved this game [still do], and I love the fact that you get to play as Alucard. As a kid, that blew me away and I was like "SWEET IT'S ALUCARD!" cause the only time I ever controlled him was in SOTN and he's my second fav character, Richters obviously first. Anyway I played this mode so much, my my characters level is like 90.
Forget fighting Dark Lord Soma I wanna play as Dark Lord Soma and have to take on Julius, Alucard, and Yoko all at once with maxed out stats on everything for super hard mode boss fight.
@@Ronnie_aus_SchnaxlreuthWell first it would depend upon if he could survive he first major battle... If yes then likely he would and if not well then it would depend on if Julius truly can make sure "Dracula" never resurrects
Dracula soul’s can be resurrected, since in the 1999 war, Dracula died, and in 2017, he is reborn as Soma Kurusu, and his presence can be felt even when Soma isn’t the dark lord, his hair, his looks, his clothing, his personality is the opposite of Mathias Cronqvist Death even acknowledge this... but after he ask him if he has plans for it in the novel and then rejected it, death is now sure that he is not the same Mathias anymore but Soma, that his soul although bind with the crimson stone, is only that, he leaves as he assure Soma that nothing will interfere his human life, that a new dark lord will replace him but he will be Soma Cruz, not Dracula A sweet ending that feels really natural isn’t it? And not FORCED INTO EVERY CHARACTER (looks at the Netflix adaptation)
No. Soma was always Dracula, only reincarnated. Their soul are one and the same. Mina's demise drove him over the edge and once again fall back to his former evil self. At that point, Soma was gone and embrace his name Dracula once again.
for those who doesn't know Soma is the darklord's(dracula) reincarnation. Alucard is dracula's son from a human female so that makes him half vampire.. its actually a father and son death match..
Probably the saddest final boss in the series. Mainly because the "Mina" that Celia killed was actually a doppelganger and that Soma basically became the dark lord for nothing.
Speak for yourself; between the Sorrow games and Sotn, this fight was EASILY among the top 7 most difficult fights in my memory, even moreso than Galamoth and Grant (both of which I've heard many stories about)
Soma actually does go "Ware ni chikara wo...!" (GIVE ME POWER) in classic Dracula fashion in the Japanese version. Some voice clips were removed from the English version.
I have understood that, that is not soma considering that for soma, Arikado is an undercover agent and does not know what Alucard is, so literally it is Dracula because he is the only one who could recognize Alucard
oh no! someone made it to my throne room! i will kill them by using a very easy to learn pattern and telegraph my attacks way too much! HAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAAHHAHAHAAHAHAAH
Soma can summon a number of different familiars, like bats and a floating sword for example. (Kinda like Alucard in SotN.) The word “stand” is what had confused me as I had no idea what they were referring to. I recently finished watching Phantom Blood and Stardust Crusaders so I now know what they’re talking about. (Still think them using the word “stand” is weird and confusing though.)
@@DarkMirria1 what about battle tendency? You probably also watched it, part 1 and part 2 are one show because of how short they are. If not, watch it.
I think I did...? I also finished watching Diamond is Umbreakable. Started the one that apparently has Dio’s son, waiting for it to update. (If there’s going to be more. The rest was only in Japanese so I watched it with subs. I needed to know what happens.)
Good show. Castlevania characters in SSB sounds fun. I think it could be sufficed to have two characters (Simon, the main character of the linear games, and Alucard, the most popular character of the nonlinear games). After all, they have two from Mother, two (technically three) from Fire Emblem, etc.
Funny, I always thought given Soma’s design that his monstrous form would be something like a giant white wolf, not this generic demon. Just goes to show the lord of darkness is consistent if nothing else.
Raphael Bors Quality Queen I guess that makes sense, especially given what Quality Queen said about having already seen this form before at the start of Symphony of the Night, but I figured it would at least be interesting. Evil can take on more forms than a big red devil, you know!
Raphael Bors I guess when I posted that, I was thinking more “Ultimate form of Soma” than “ultimate form of darkness”; I still think it’s an interesting idea, but I get your point.
Yeah. The backdash animation used here and CVHD is missing a few frames. It's hard to notice unless you compare both animations side by side because Alucard has a shitload of sprites.
I remember seeing an interview (I think it was with Koji Igarashi) and he was saying that he was watching a speedrun of SotN and was asking about the shield-dash technique, and was told that by using the shield to cancel the dash animation early you could use the dash again quicker. When told this he was dissapointed because the animators spent a lot of time working on Alucards running animation and all those sprites were just going unused by the speedrunning community.
Liam Dell I know that they work very hard on SOTN especially alucard’s frames and sprites and all that, but he needs to remember. It’s a speedrun. lmao
I really hate this ending (This fight kicks ass Btw) it's pretty much an F* you to the ending of aria of sorrow... I mean come on! Soma survived Dracula's castle, the fights with Graham, Julius Belmont and the Chaos (The f*cking Chaos!) to defy his destiny of being Dracula's reincarnation... and all of that is F*** up by a Doppelganger...
As an person who played aria of sorrow I confirm that Soma Cruz is weirdly op considering his mastery of souls. He fights like Graham in this fight but way more dangerous. Maybe this soma is the one in the bad ending in aria of sorrow when he drops his glass of wine
Simon Belmont is in the first Castlevania too ;) Simon Belmont is the original, and therefore, Simon should be the one to be chosen if a character from Castlevania should be chosen. But yeah, Simon's Quest was pretty annoying. Sure, you would manage to beat the game if you threw holy water all over the place, but seriously, you don't want to do that xD
would have been nice if they had made 2 different teleporting laughters for soma instead of just one every single time, first it sounded geniusly mad, the second time "ok its a game so repetition of sound files is normal", the 15th time "come on what are you even laughing about when you are getting slaughtered? -.- "
And when you thought fighting Dracula couldn't get ANY harder, it just did. No, You can't expect the simple demon beast transformation that shoots three fireballs and jumps. You now have to deal with a demon beast that jumps, shoots out worms when it jumps, shoots a ground based fireball, AND has a harpy familiar that shoots your ass down when you get behind demon Dracula. What will they think of next? :P
Now lets imagine this fight if soma actually tried and didn't just use the manticore and red minotaur souls like a little pussy. Assuming he had his chaos ring, which would be the only way for him to spam the red minotaur soul that much, he could probably just kill alucard, julius, and yoko in a matter of SECONDS. Probably with the use of things like the biphron soul, petrify dude who I forgot the name of, ripper, heck even shit like the were tiger and jaguar souls would probably fuck up all 3 of them if he got the hits in (I didn't say red minotaur since they clearly made it look like trash in this game, instead of a gigantic axe that swings around the ENTIRE screen and deals like 800 damage, it's just like a fast and damaging version of the buer soul) This fight is just embarrassing to watch if you've ever played aria of sorrow and finished it.
ITAndroMedian In the very beginning of Dawn of Sorrow, he states that he lost the power of dominance after the conflict last year, implying he would not have all of the souls from AoS. I believe you are correct.
Until Soma becomes the Beast Form, the fight is really easy because Somas Only Attack (The Double Axe Slash) is way too easy to dodge...Which makes Juilus Belmont the Best for the Fight, And it’s still easy in the Second Phase
Alucard, the good-hearted semi-vampiric hero vs. Soma, the reincarnation of humanity's worst nightmare. Fate, I suppose. Also the Rondo of Blood final boss theme works.
Dawn of Sorrow is probably the best sequel to Aria of Sorrow since after you beat the game, you can play this mode or you can play this mode after getting the second bad ending. And this is epic.
I remember the fist time I got to this fight. The setup, incredible. You get the epic anime voice (specially if you picked Alucard), and fucking Dances of Illusion in a great rendition starting. Just to get one of the worst Dracula boss fights ever.
What I liked doing after backing up from Soma's axe attack was doing Alucard's little teleport thing and get a couple of hits on him. Took down his first form pretty quick.
I wonder who is more powerfull , menace or soma as the dark lord, yhea he is the incarnarion of evil at this point but do not forget the fact that menace is a fusion of the strongest demons.
Somebody here after fighting Dracula in Dead Cells? Same song, i like Dawn of Sorrow, but Order of Ecclesia ost is in the DLC as well, i'm so happy with those tributes 😁
This is the original Soma. This is wht happens when he is corrupted by hatred and dark power after witnessing a tragic event, which will remain unspoiled.
Honestly if this was animated, it’d be way more chaotic. Both of them are beyond even the strongest vampires (Soma isn’t a vampire, just has the powers of Dracula), and have the power of Chaos. They’d be warping reality on such a scale, no one would be able to get close
@SkInHoUnD complete the game with either the bad or good ending then select julius mode and go to the demon guest house at the entrance where you met arikado in soma mode you will then meet alucard and he then joins your party
