Same with Katara, from being an inexperience and rather weak waterbender (probably the weakest in the last airbender) to one of the most powerful waterbender master ever.
Willis I know right; the series was too short for her or any of the other 2 too have gain enough battle experience and have the teamwork necessary to defeat Dracula's army.
Movies with friends their is already devil may cry anime out there......, but if we are talking about game titles becoming Netflix anime series I would like to see a Legacy of Kain series.
Magic users are defined by how well they adapt to the shortcomings of the discipline. The fact she utilizes apparently "used" attacks in surprising ways shows how skillful she really is.
Perfect, a fight scene that doesn't have people naming their attacks or anybody with very very specific abilities. Dear God I hope there are more shows like this
@@captaininsane9101 I think this "name your attack-schtick" is japan or asia only, they don't do that in western cartoons or animations. Maybe it comes from all those old kung fu-styles, you know, "crane stealing chopsticks" or something.
Those kind of fights are good in their own ways but it would not work out well for castlevania. The pragmatic fighting is rarely seen and needs to be used more often though
oh wow like a typical fps, only finishing blows count :P alucard was actually fighting 3 generals simultaneously, which is the only reason the other two didn't get stomped
While these are the actual stats, a lot of it was teamwork. Thanks to Trevor, Sypha got the killing blow on the last one, without Sypha, Trevor wouldn't have been able to split them apart, which led to Alucard killing the female one, etc.
Sypha really deserves all the praise she's getting in the comments. Best anime depiction of a mage ever, and trust me there's a lot of strong competition there.
Not really if you want to be practical. Most anyone adopt a magic system with a set of rules, but never seem to be limited by them. Their magic can be as complex or as situational as the author wants but you never see them struggle with this unless it's by the plot. Rare are the animes and mangas where a magic user is in some way limited in their use of magic like having a limit of spells or having to manage their mana, and even rarer where the magic is treated as a genuine doctrine that one must master. Normally the most you get is the protagonist gains a new skill, uses it, and either never uses it again or is one of the 5/6 abilities that he/she uses for the rest of the adventure.
@@sirbruno95 And that's why Early Naruto was badass. They consistently used the same moves and thought up new variations of said moves, even finding alternate ways to master certain moves if the current way wasn't good enough. On top of that, characters actually remembered little details like where a fucking hole was from a prior fight or how another character did a certain move so they could use it themselves and put their own spin on it at the same time.
I think shes very op here, it seems like she can do whatever she wants. No one could shut her down even outsmarted hundred year old vampires. Maybe they underestimated her? she wasnt exausted after all that magic smoking them like nothing, but damn its fuckin awesome and i aint mad. Praise her!
FireBomberBassist I mean I doubt these vampires have met many humans who could wield elemental magic with such grace. Plus their short battle plan works pretty well. Belmont puts the fear of God into them with the morning star (and the fact that he's a Belmont) probably shaking them up a bit, sypha constantly blows out crazy magic which does catch the vampires off gaurd and alucard just goes wild while the other two back him up. I like that their strategy wasn't just a statement and that in the fight choreography you can actually see it taking action.
@@popularopinion1 battlemaster and evo wizard are exactly on point, but there's not anything that REALLY fits alucard, except maybe a champion fighter/moon druid multiclass, since he can transform and his basic physical abilities are top notch (champion).
@@Yci haha yeah. As soon as that general used the ice wall as a platform I went: "Uh huh. Yep. He's not long for this world." And then Sypha used the wall the way I thought she was going to. I was like: "what the hell was he thinking?"
I love the fight choreography in this show. The clever and creative ways Sypha uses magic, how Alucard blends his various skills together instead of using them separately, and how Trevor utilizes the Morning Star for both wide range crowd control and precision strikes. It's so good. I especially love that they only get more comfortable with utilizing the Morning Star as the series goes on and even incorporate other Belmont tools into his arsenal. The fights are always just a treat to watch.
I'm just hoping dance of illusions makes it into season 3 somehow Edit: Season 4. Since Drac was hinted at coming back, he's gonna be pissed at humanity for separating him from Lisa again.
After Harry Potter's gunfight style magic, Sypha is such a breath of fresh air. Seeing a mage out think her opponents on every level and being able to adapt to each fight is amazing to watch
It's also nice that an actual a plan was suggested right before the fight, which is why they managed to work so well as a team (in addition to them knowing each other long enough to familiarize with one another's fighting style). Unlike some over-exaggerated fight scenes in anime or movies, where main characters, who never fought with one another suddenly join their attacks in perfect sync.
Simonas Palovis Exactly! You could actually see their battle strategy unfold on screen. It was also a loose strategy so the virwer gets surprised at what moves they pull off.
I think these fight use the use of gore well. You can see blood, because that's believable. You cut someone in half or at all, they'll bleed. But they don't focus on the deaths, or make the kills over the top. The morning start makes them explode, yes, but we don't get a cloud of blood, just a clean explosion. A vampire gets cut in half with ice, but we don't need to see then split into two.
I understand why it made sense to the story, but it would have been so much more satisfying if Godbrand had survived until this episode, to be taken down by Trevor.
I think my single largest complaint about the season is that the "Generals" have no personality or even names between them. We know nothing about any of them and frankly it makes their defeat seem a bit hollow since they were little better than their mooks.
@@Vangooter First, no we don't, I'm not even sure they have speaking lines outside of Godbrand. Second, what would be the point, they're all dead here.
0:52 The morning star is such a cool weapon, and Trevor's control over it is amazing! I swear though, the length of the chain seems to change from frame to frame
That's the issue with any rope or chain weapon in animation or illustration. It's impossible to keep the length consistent so you might as well stylize it to make it look cool rather than limit yourself by trying to adhere to the same length.
I think that is some sort of a tribute to the original Castlevania, when you gather the whip, and it becomes longer. Either way. IO don't think we should questioning the logics behind a chain with a ball that makes unholy creatures explodes when it touches 'em. ;)
0:33 the look of shock on that vampires face when she almost kills him is amazing. Vampires in this series are very arrogant, they believe they are above humans, who are little more than a source of food. So when this lowly human almost kills him he is completely dumbstruck.
Whoever animated Sypha's icicle summon needs a raise. Not only do they keep the circular geometry of her 'reload' spot on, they also correctly foreshorten all of the icicles, down to the point of showing off when she turns to face Sharma, the Indian vampire with the twin scimitars.
the physics in the show is top notch. When they are fighting dracula, he throws alucard through a wall, and zoomies after him. The dust gets sucked through the hole cause he's moving so fast. Also the shockwave of the castle moving is on point.
One of the best animated fight scenes ever. The music, the choreography, the teamwork, the skill of the animation team. Everything fits together neatly. I am sure the makers of this product are very proud of themselves.
@Terror No there fucking isn't. Whether it's comics, anime, or cartoons. They're fucking everywhere. But are they good characters? More often than not, no.
@@SefniAsheforr depends on the genre. I know they exist on shows like in magical girl shows, barbie, bratz, winx, witch, tinkerbell, etc, but theyre not the MCs to action or fantasy at all.
@Terror There were plenty of strong (in many different ways) female characters in fiction since Ancient Greece at the least. But the average internet attention whore has no education, nor, as a consequense, any frame of reference.
@@mazanakaUA there isn't.not as much as male characters ok the very least.and where in ancient greece are there strong female characters? Yes, a mythology where all male gods are rapists, and women gets punished for getting raped, where women gets kidnapped, yeah totally strong female characters dude.
Only just now realized that Trevor at 1:00 tried a close range headshot which kept missing, then switches to keeping one end of the Morning star in his hand, wraps the other end around his sword, so he can capture the general in it's hold by pulling on both ends. Then goes in for a finishing move which causes collateral damage to the remaining soldiers. Genius.
If Sypha and Trevor ever has a kid, imagine just how darn powerful that kid must be. xD A mother who knows magic, a father who's of a lineage of monster hunters and endless knowledge from both of them in different fields. Plus, dhampir uncle.
Out of all things, I love the little detail of Trevor reeling his morning star in when they're done fighting. Little realistic touches of that add to the immersion of these stories, and that's the best
This is hands down the pinnacle of anime fight scene adopted from a game. When I was playing Castlevania, this is how I imagined the fight, even if it is in 2D
Nah, look at it this way: Cho is used to playing with her prey. That's what she thought she was doing here, too, with all the mist. She arrogantly assumed that only Alucard was a threat, and Sypha proved her wrong.
Yes, and no. Trevor, Alucard, and Sypha teamed up is supposed to be stupidly OP. Alucard is the only vampire to remotely approach Dracula in power, Sypha as Isaac describes "stinks of magic" which is a testimony to how powerful she actually is, and Trevor is basically the vampires' boogeyman with a holy affinity and training and an arsenal specifically for killing them. There's a reason all the vamps look terrified at their entrance and immediately abandon fighting each other without even a verbal agreement to team up against the trio.
I mean she almost killed Alucard. She just got way too cocky. Also, all the vampire generals there were op, they were just unfortunate enough to face the vampire killing trio. Seriously, these three killed Dracula, who's miles above the rest. That should say a lot.
@@Tantalus010 Yes, that was her doom. If she stopped to think about how Sypha was using elemental magic she wouldn't have been using mist form or at least would've taken her out first.
You know, Sypha's last kill to me, was like a promise/threat made real. She had threatened to incinerate Alucard in the first season, so my first thoughts were.. damn. Its a good thing Alucard didn't get into that fight. She proved she could have easily done it
Sypha is definitely a badass - for a human. Watch the three of them fight Dracula, though, and it's made abundantly clear there that Alucard is leagues above both Trevor and Sypha in terms of combat strength. The two of them couldn't even keep up for the majority of the fight.
@@Tantalus010 Its true Trevor and Sypha lack the strength & speed Alucard has to truly match Dracula. However they each held their own while Alucard was down, and Alucard himself was ultimately just a punching bag in a straight fight. Dracula was simply in a class all of his own & didn't use many of his abilities. It was just his time.
GOD I absolutely love the fighting style of Syphia, no doupts, no feelings only pure, gruesome magic abilities used in creative ways with no intern monologues, without naming every spell she uses nor being the "useless support female teammate of the group" as always magicians are reflected in media and anime (god I really hate Aqua).
The "useless goddess" from konosuba. Blue hair and a narcissist who along with megumi the once a day nuke wizard cause the most damage and get the team into extraordinary amounts of debt
On screen kill score! Trevor Kills: Soldiers: 2 (possibly 7 due to proximity of an exploding general) Generals: 1, Assists: 1st General (To focused on dodging the whip to notice Alucard) 2nd General (thrown to the ground, leading to a follow up finisher from Sypha) Sypha Kills: Soldiers: 3, Generals: 3, Assists: 1 solider (disoriented via fire wall letting Alucard rush in) Alucard Kills: Solider: 4, Generals: 1, Assists: 1 General (Attention was focused on Alucard allowing Sypha the perfect chance to freeze and shatter her)
One thing I liked was how the last two vampires were so terrified of the Morning Star Whip that they completely dropped their guard to Sypha and Alucard.
This felt so damn cool. The come-uppance on the vampire generals felt great, after watching them gore down so many people. Plus the fight music, Sypha's adaptation fighting, and just the general feel of this season's climax was incredible.
This is really good and makes me think about how Sypha lost to the Cyclops. I guess she was ambushed and surprised, otherwise it looks like she would demolish the cyclops in seconds
@@Threeprosgames He's spanish (and since I'm italian I can easily understand, so...) He just said that this isn't an anime, but he agrees that it's the best animation series of the year. Lol.
@@Threeprosgames Yeahhh almost everybody in the world speaks 1 or 2 languages beside's his mother language, but not americans, they barely speaks there own and demand everyone else to speak english, so pathetic And yeah it's not even and anime fucking weeb
What I've noticed is that she usually needs a few seconds to charge up a spell before she can release it. So, I'm guessing the cyclops just happened to freeze her first, then went after the other guys.
Something that blows my mind about all of the fight scenes in this show is I can’t imagine a more challenging and tedious weapon to animate than a whip.
Sypha using the ice shards defensively reminds me of certain npcs from Fable 2 that were able to use the Blades spell in a similar way (like Garth). She is freaking incredible! I can't wait to see what season 3 brings!
Can we all just agree that the scene of sypha grabbing that vampire by the head and just fucking incinerating him is probably one of the best in history
I kinda wish we'd gotten to know these vampire characters more, but to be honest this scene just says it all. Amazing really. The music, the animation, the execution is just brilliant.
So funny how Cho thought she could kill Alucard cuz she can turn into mist but all that went out the window as soon as he teleported behind her. Alucard is so underestimated
