I especially appreciate how he had stayed passive until his boy toy way imperiled and he threw aside notions of neutrality and fought to protect him. Love that shit.
The thing that I find fascinating about Olrox is that he's effectively the protagonist of a revenge story. A man driven to kill the person who killed the love of his life. But we saw the end of that story at the beginning of episode 1 of this series. He's done it. He's had his revenge. But now? Now he just kind of...drifts through life. He's above it all, but in a way he's not really part of it either. He's the man who's had his revenge and now doesn't really have much else to live for.
He parallels Dracula in a few ways too. They're both vampires who fell in love with humans. Dracula never turned Lisa into a vampire out of respect for her decision to not become one. While Olrox turned his lover into a vampire so they could be together forever and it being implied his lover didn't fully consent to becoming a vampire. Dracula went mad and depressed after Lisa's death deciding the human race needs to be wiped out including the innocent and children who had nothing to do with Lisa's death even though this will mean he and the other vampires will die from starvation too as he just wanted to die and take the rest of the world with him. Olrox just tracks down the one responsible for killing his lover, gets his revenge, but still continues to carry on existing and spares young Richter as he was just a child and out of so Richter can grow strong and have a fair fight in the future. Also both Dracula and Olrox get criticised for their decisions in regards to their lovers and it plays a part in the deaths of their lovers. Carmilla flat out questioned why Dracula never turned Lisa as she may have had more of a chance of protecting herself if she was vampire (and Carmilla was doing it to trigger Dracula). Mizrak calls Olrox out on turning his lover without consent made him a target for Julia.
@@robonaught One thing to clarify is we don't know if he turned his lover into a vampire. Because when Mizrak asked him if he turned him, Olrox doesn't really answer the question.
I just watched this and was curious why Olrox's design was so different than the games. Google gave me an interesting answer lol Supposedly Olrox is designed to look more like Zahn McClarnon, if that's not simping then I don't know what is lol I love it and they did an amazing job.
Omg yes he’s the greatest in my opinion his voice gave me chills. This role was literally meant for him. I hope he does more voice roles in the future.
@@metalben005he’s simply put, a regular guy. Like if vampires did exist in real life, they would behave more like him, rather then some cartoonish evil villain.
@@zen4ever3I doubt it, Humans are not driven by logic like olrox is. Olrox is not a regular guy, due to his long life and upbringing In the Aztec culture, he is passive to life and as a result, is quite methodical and closeted with his emotions - even when he killed his lovers murderer, it was more or less just a simple eye for an eye. Depictions of lust for love and blood are probably quite accurate given people are naturally drawn to things that give them a dopamine hit.
He’s 1000% gonna help take her down. She’s the embodiment of the kinds of ppl who killed his ppl. When he was telling his boy toy while looking out the window, he mentioned they did it for their god and then he chuckled and said “it was her” the whole time. I feel like he definitely has been snooping and poking around to find leverage or a weakness
The direction the show is taking suggests that Olrox may be the avatar of the Aztec God Quetzalcoatl. It remains unclear why he did not take action against Sekhmet much earlier. However, it's probable that Olrox is collaborating with Dracula and Alucard on a long-term plan to confront Sekhmet and her demonic and divine associates and allies.
@@Amal-mc1ey I think the show is proving why Dracula is OP since all gods, monsters, and demons tremble before him to the point God backs him at times.
i just rewatched the first part and forgot dracula and lisa came back to life, so he could be a good guy in this, relatively speaking as in not killing *all* the humans.
He’s the most neutral character in the series as long as you don’t fuck with him he has no intent of screwing with you. And his actions are more of rationality than insanity he ditched the psychotic vampire club and tried to help the good guys. Extremely powerful and likable at times
I know this is a Olrox thirst trap (and a very successful one, I mean LOOK AT HIM) but can we take a moment to appreciate Richter's VA at 4:05? Perfect goddamn delivery, gets me every time.
I love how Olrox developed as the story progressed. Early on the story builds the link between the European nobility and vampires. The impact of this link and it's effect on the inhabitants of the new world is then made painfully clear with Annette's backstory. Seeing Olrox deal with the conflicting parts of who he is only gets more and more compelling when you learn the story of his beloved's death. Now this is me speculating, but I get the feeling that Olrox's dislike of Richter isn't because he's Julia's son, or even a Belmont, but because he feels that in a way, vampire hunters failed him and many many others. They were supposed to stop the vampires who helped push the exploitation of the world beyond Europe. To make this even worse, when they did travel to the new world, they didn't discriminate between those who fought for or against oppressed, killing vampires regardless of circumstance just because they were vampires.
I feel like Mizrak judged Olrox too harshly. I get he he was desperate to redeem himself, but he shouldn't have thrown such hurtful words at him. Olrox genuinely cares and just didn't want Mizrak to die like his last lover 😢.
@@kristinebryant9038yeah, that wasn't really a wake up call, but more like snuffing out any passions. He needed to be told that like he needed a stake in the heart.
I think Olrox is the first vampire we’ve seen since even the first series who doesn’t have claw-like nails. In fact, they’re completely normal-looking like a human’s. Wonder if that has something to do with how he became a vampire or if he is something else…
He also has reptilian like eyes which we don't see in vampires not even Dracula. I feel like the name Olrox is just a cover up and he is someone else that's disguised as a vampire.
@@TimberlakeTigerGirl pretty sure the show says something like vampires aren't always human, some are demons and some are gods like erzebet. there was also varney who was just death
This man is just pure silk. His drip, amazing. But everyone he encounters is either traumatized by him, dead, dead by him, or they’re assholes. But in the end. He doesn’t give a damn
@@luiousy7329he did, but he can’t expose himself, he is not more powerful than erzsebet, currently, no one is, maybe alucard. the whole fight was a suicide, they all and together should put a plan to defeat her
@@luiousy7329 it's called living to fight another day. What would have happened if he hadnt stopped Mizrak from his charge at Erzsebet? It was like an ant charging at a foot; he would've died just as easily as he would be forgotten.
If he wanted to, he could have absolutely killed Richter. But he was there for Julia, and Julia alone. Julia was the one that killed his lover and he wasn’t going to punish Richter simply for being her child.
@@ryankwon8785I think Alucard won't work with a vampire with a vengeance against the Belmonts. Olrox's "hatred" against Julia is personal, there's nothing to gain for him but his own satisfaction. Alucard won't stand for the few fighters to join his cause would go around killing each other. But should the two meet, Alucard may become passive against him. We know that Alucard hold some degree of respect to vampire's lives and despite killing thousands of them, he won't just kill onsite.
@@user-pi1lb4tf2f Olrox only hated Julia. He has nothing against Richter. However, Olrox spared Richter so the latter can have a fair chance one day to take revenge.
Olrox transforms into a Feathered Serpent. Like Quetzalcoatl/Kukulcan, who's apparently not so big on human sacrifices. One of Quetz/Kuku's rivals is Tezcatlipoca, a Deity related to Jaguars of Night, Sorcery, and Jaguars. Erzebet became a god-like entity via Sekhmet, associated with lions and in this show, wishes to create an eternal night. Anyone have the feeling Olrox dislikes Erzebet because of her current similarities to what Tezcatlipoca was? Cat associated gods with dominion over night?
In the myths themselves it is said that Sejmet enjoyed drinking blood, he fits perfectly with a vampire, they used Quetzalcoatl only for his popularity, but there are a good handful of Aztec/Mayan gods that would have fit better
@Aristocratic13 Kukulkan seemed to indulge a bit of Human Sacrifice, though not to the same degree. Going from Mayan to Aztec, Quetzalcoatl's sacrifices are more on the deers, rabbits, jaguars, snakes and butterflies. Human blood too, but that mostly comes from piercing various body parts with a cactus or stingray spine depending on person and not so much kill people.
No, he literally says he dislikes oppression beacuse a "god" says so. Like the Spanish who came and killed becaus their god commanded them to kill the natives. Olrox believes more in the spiritual belief he learned from his Mohican late love. That everyone is equal and accepted under the Great Spirit -there are no masters and no slaves.
I was rooting for him, such a badass character. And I love his shadowy powers, it’s like Sylvanas’ Banshee form from WoW or Reaper’s Wraith form from Overwatch or the Death Eaters travel spell from Harry Potter.
The fact he's named after the legendary boss from SOTN made me interested, but seeing his arc so far has made him my favorite in the show. Hope to see more of him in season 2 whenever that drops
It can refer to several women, the straightforward one, would be Tonantzin the Earth Mother. It may be Xochiquetzal, the maiden Goddess of fertility, childbirth, and first time mothers. Or Teocuichpo, later known as the Doña Isabella, Last Queen of the Aztecs. Her line survives to this day, known as the Moctezuma family from the Spanish monarchy.
While I would’ve liked them to get a Mexican actor for the role, I can’t help but appreciate McClarnon exquisite voice work. I also love that they make the character so poised and calculating, avoiding stereotypes and making him so goddamn cool. He’s definitively the Isaac of Nocturne.
It would have been a decent of the Aztec people, as the character is Aztec not Mexican. There are villages in Mexico of the decent soft Aztec still alive today.
Man, Im going to miss Orlox once his role in the story is done, it's going to be very interesting seeing how his relationship with Mirzak's is going to clash with the inevitability of Richter finally acting on his revenge on him. ....Whatever happens, I just want my dude with an ass full of Catholic Guilt to be happy, whether with Orlox or some future character we have yet to meet.
What should you think of this? What I think for this sad but yet lovely story about Olrox’s feelings, maybe in the next seasons should have he’s former lover reincarnated, so Olrox can be at ease and be loved again. I think that will be nice for a vampire to have a happy ending
oh my god... That last couple of seconds... Why does he looks so hot and cute at the same time... He's like mix of Griffith and Noah from Fate/Grand Order. (I'm sorry if that last one confuses you, just that look and turn around makes me think of that character...)
I was so confused seeing Alucard, thinkin Olrox tipped him off before sailing to Europe and then I remembered the last show took place in Romania which is in Europe 😂😂 so he probably witnessed a shift in the power and menacing atmosphere and studied up on her and her doings. I’m so excited to see Olrox and Alucard interactions. Something tells me Olrox can really throw some shade as lethal as Alucard could with Trevor😂 I know it’s gonna be an epic battle, Olrox is definitely gonna come for the queens head. She, by all rights, is a colonizer like the ones his ppl were slaughtered by. He’s quite literally told to bow right away, he talks to her, she refers to him as one of “her dragons” basically claiming ownership of him, then he’s told to bow again, then she flexes her power and he’s coerced to bow and TOLD by her that he is going to hand over America to her as one of her liaisons. I don’t see him NOT kicking her into a tree 😂😂
Tengo la sensación de que en algún momento se convertirá en el ser mas fuerte. Alucard y Richter deberán unirse para derrotarlo. Las canciones de Lacrimosa y Lamento de Ninfa es lo mas bello que he escuchado en mucho tiempo.
Despite him have killed Richter's mother for vengeance, I love this character, I hope next season he show up more and more and joining forces with Alucard to defeat Erzsebeth.
❤ Orlax Amo ele por ele ser JUSTO. Ele só queria viver com quem ele amava e tiraram isso dele. Além disso o rotero deixa claro que ele só vai mata o muleque se For Atacado primero.
He reminds me a lot about a very dark and mysterious baron from “trinity blood” who was madly in love with Lilith ..n being a vampire which is their similarities ..he uses the ring of Solomon as well
No killing is justified, revenge is useless, it only makes history worse, yes, the Aztecs killed many people, but the inquisition, the witch hunt and other religions around the world, with the excuse our religion our culture , also caused a lot of damage and very many deaths, there is no justified massacre, neither those caused by the Aztecs nor the one caused by Cortes nor the one the English caused with the Native Americans or any other.
Ahh I love this little knowledge It feels as if the rules of afterlife and gods are tied to the mortals. Some living concepts such of death. I mean if an aztec god found some random vampires who probably didn’t know South America existed and started turning people. Why not make something out of two. It’s like a werewolf who somehow ended up in Japan and became something unique as the very belief demands it so. Unless you don’t of course. Do you want a interesting story oh reader of mine
Olrox, in his other form 'The Winged Green Serpent’ resembles a deity in Aztec culture (a civilization that existed in Mexico from the 14th to the 16th century). This deity is known as Quetzalcoatl, revered in their culture as the god of wisdom and knowledge, as well as the god of winds and weather. Given Olrox's Mexican nationality, it is possible that he could be a vampire and the deity Quetzalcoatl at the same time.
If god exist then others do too What ever home god has chosen olrox decided to why not take benefits of two things being a vampire and other blessing hidden. That messiah oh… who could it be and how pissed it would be that some narcissis thinks that the mortals from other regions doesn’t have their own unique dietys
Erzsebet said, "You will deliver [America] to me, the Messiah (herself)." Nevertheless, it's probable that Olrox is collaborating with Dracula and Alucard on a long-term plan to confront Sekhmet and her demonic and divine associates and allies.
