@@TheDiabeticGameMaster it's incredible how complex human sexuality and sexual preference can be, and also how over-simplified it is, still to this day. I have a hard time even seeing it as a spectrum, as it seems so much more complicated than placing a single mark somewhere on the immensity of the sexual gamut of humans. It seems more fluid than that, even evolving and changing over time, potentially encompassing any variety of attributes from any position on this "spectrum". I think maybe this continued over simplification is what leads to instances such as half the chatters asking if they're bi. And here's some advice for those people: the more things you can learn to accept and appreciate, the more things you'll have to enjoy.

And its been harder and harder to get food for her, she's been going through three jehovah's witnesses a week now and it's getting to the point that I think we're going to have to move again, she gets so fussy when I have to wrap her up her roots like that . . . . . . god she used to be so small I could just pick off a toddler a few times a month . . . . Feels like forever ago. She can be so clingy sometimes just wanting me to sit with her in that bloom all day and it's not like I can really bring her to see anyone not as though there anyone to see sense we have to keep moving and we can't get a pet because she's so allergic. Couldn't agree more, he completely stole the show which is saying something with so many great characters and unrelated plots running around. His changes are actually believable too, instead of hearing one cliche speech from a protagonist for a dramatic change of heart he just needed some time to think about why he was even doing half the terrible things he was doing and by the end just settles for chilling in exile rather than going on some overblown quest to make amends. Obviously it's still fantastical but it feels reasonably close to how the servant of a mass murderer might come to terms with a life without masters or enemies.

Her cursing scene in the field was gold and you could tell the VA was having fun with her lines

I actually dislike her action choreography. She's from a culture of wandering nomads with a deep oral tradition. She shouldn't be backflipping, that's more of a Trevor thing, since he has the Belmont training. If _everybody_ has Belmont's skills, then combat looks weightless and without consequence. It also makes it look like that being a Belmont isn't really anything special. Trevor is supposed to be peak human in terms of athletic ability. But making everybody move like him is just the sort of floaty and vapid action choreography I expect these days from media. Action should be used to give your characters personality or advance the plot meaningfully, it shouldn't just be used as a visual distraction to wow the audience with how many frames you can pack into a fight. And Sypha just doesn't move distinctly from him except that she sometimes shoots fire instead. I'd legitimately be more interested if she just was very strategic about her positioning, always used cover where possible and partly relied on Trevor to screen her, showing actual cooperation going both ways. They are lovers after all. It's like how lightsaber fights basically just devolve into Yoda doing backflips. Which is not the point of his character. Yoda is not _supposed_ to be a warrior either. This is the character who tells Luke that "war does not make one great," reminds Luke that he will not need his weapons for a vision quest and is meant to be a lesson in how you don't judge a book by its cover. But as always, this is lost on film makers who just use the spectacle of a fight to distract the audience because they don't think action should be written effectively nor used to tell the audience something about the setting or characters. I have the exact same problem with Isaac a lot of the time. He fights Carmilla toe-to-toe at one point, even though she's stronger and faster than him, with him parrying her sword with a dagger. (That's not how that works.) I have no problem with him just cooly watching her from behind a wall of minions while she gets torn to shreds unceremoniously. It's _very_ in character for him, especially since Hector characterizes "wizards" as treacherous schemers. But again, the "Hollywood" approach to action is that there has to be a dramatic physical confrontation with a hated antagonist. Even though Isaac is not the type of person who gives a crap about that, nor does he view Carmilla as anything more than a pebble on the road of his own personal journey. He's a character foil to her narcissism, greed and self-importance. So it's perfectly fitting for her to die impersonally to his mooks without ever being graced with the honor of a "fair" personal duel with swords. Honestly, there are just all sorts of inconsistencies in the narratives like this. In one episode, a well-armed militia uses dung and salt smeared onto polearms and combined with bows to chase off night creatures effectively. Then this same militia dies later dies to man fighting a bunch of heretical monks that have nothing but robes and knives. It's really irksome from a world-building perspective. (This militia was supposed to show that the town's Judge ran a tight ship but they become selectively incompetent when the plot needs them to be.)

@@afqwa423 this is such a wack take. she's been shown to be A. the protector of her tribe and thus the best(if not only) fighter, and B. to be very unlike other speakers, to the point that she pretty readily turns her back on her traditions as soon as she realizes that writing things down is way better than trying to hold onto everything. it isn't a leap or inconsistent that she would practice acrobatics. in fact that's extremely consistent. she also...doesn't fight like trevor. the only way that take makes any sense is if you think that movement and basic martial prowess = belmont. which is silly. also, you don't seem to know what you're talking about. gresit was the major town where the militia learned to use salt and seemed to have a few thousand people in it. it was specifically one of the last major cities still standing. lindenfeld is the town the judge ran, and was more of a village of a few hundred people. they weren't anywhere on the level of gresit's military, and didn't have the same tactics; not that it matters considering that being able to fight off a dozen night creatures is not the same as being able to fight off a paramilitary force of similar size and armament, who are also unafraid to die, and crazy. what a stupid thing to try and nitpick.

also masculinity in japan is a lot more associated with intelligence than in america where it’s just pure brawn that determines it. So vaush is expecting the wrong standard for masculinity, and sure there are some brawny characters but as far as i know japanese people would describe a character like light from death note as very masculine despite that he might not come off like that in the west.

@Ronald Nygma I'm not saying buff men aren't also considered masculine in japan. Especially authors who take influence from western media, like with Kentaro Miura and Berserk. But, where Americans generally completely disregard intellect in regards to masculinity (many superheroes are just stupid brutes with big muscles, etc.) and a nerd would be considered lacking in masculinity, in japan both your fitness and your intellect contribute to how masculine you are. However, Japanese people are generally smaller than westerners, so with my example of light in death note, he might be considered average size for Americans, japanese people may consider him quite athletic. But the point is that it's good to keep in mind these type of differences, because it can give you a better perspective on how the author views the media he/she wrote.
