Damn carci I've been watching your runs and seeing you on AGDQ all the time for some years now and never stumbled on this video until today, SoTN is by far my favorite Castlevania game and seeing you playing not like a speedrun, but full on gameplay optimization strats and with the 'no damage' challenge it's quite refreshing
I like your videos because you remind me of my brother who isn't around anymore. We loved these games man. I know he would have loved your silent hill no damage runs
I'm from brazil(this game is also really famous and nostalgic here), my english is not 100%, and I can't hear this old librarian man say thank you instead of like you. Also, I know you're not going to see this, but I love your videos, love your voice, it's so calm, it really helps me with my anxiety and stuff thank you for this ~and btw you're really a good player~
@@SHADOMEGA7569 I tried to wait a few minutes when he talked about the voice actor for Chris Redfield, and thought "hmm, maybe he isn't going to mention the infamous Michael G"...
This has been my favorite game of all time since my childhood, i can play it over and over again, and Carci is one of my favorite youtubers because of Resident Evil so this video is really great for me, thanks Carci!
This is a lot of fun to watch. This game is super nostalgic for me and I can tell that in a few parts you were really into in by the intensity your commentary. It's great.
"I am the wind, I am the sun, I am the Fart Cloud that Won." Better lyrics in my opinion. Well played man, I started learning about Castlevania and Checking out the animation and watching a few snips of clips here and there. Only reason was because of V Rising doing a collab with Castlevania and it was/is pretty solid. The 90s never seem to disappoint with the Nacho Cheese of Voice/Acting. Good show!
I know this video is 4+ years old, and I hope it hasn't been answered 2 billion times, but your choice of controller for the fighting game inputs is all preference. Some swear by fight stick, some by gamepad. Neither give any advantage over the other (and that's per Maximilian Dood, a fighting game channel if not THE fighting game channel on RU-vid). The only controller that would give you finer inputs statistically would be a Smashbox (I think that's what they're called). They use buttons for movement inputs instead of a stick. And that's my text wall of the day. Another great vid. Thanks Carci :)
Well about six months or more ago I asked if you could do a Super Castlevania IV no damage run as I said it was my favourite. It still is but thanks to this run I've since played through this one on a PS1 emulator. This is a much more complicated game than SCIV so thanks for the effort you put into this guide/run. Great help in my first experience of Symphony of the Night.
I started this game one and a half year ago. I loved it till I stuck and haven't played since then. Now watching your video and got the shield rod I've become obsessed with this much more than the day I first played it. And I have a lots of hours ahead as except the PS1 version, I want to continue the PS4 one! Thanks Carci, you count! P.S: I like all the type of games you're making a video of them!
It's possible to beat the game without speaking to the Master Librarian if you use the wolf form to get to the Clock Tower then use the gold medusa heads to knock you upstairs. You need the mirror armor to do this, worth noting that the jewel fist is right next to it which is very effective against the bomber knights and sword lords. I guess they knew people would try to find different ways of playing the game, got to love that.
@@CarcinogenSDA found this utube page 2weeks now an am really enjoying your content made me go back an play some games totaly different keep up the good work
Man there are some, 'How the fark did carci not get hit there' moments in this run. Well done sir. Me friends and I spent months exploring this game as kids and you find stuff we would have never found in a million years. I'm astonished how big this game is.
SOTN is on the easy side of the things ( Alucard is broken as hell btw ) , but good run, 8:45 , tetra spirit input is kind jenky, hold up a little and do the half circle a little bit slower, SOTN input reading is a mess sometimes
Try using Richter and you're only allowed to use ur whip and Uppercut and dash in air. You are not allowed at all to use hydra storm. If you beat that then yeah i guess ur kinda ok.
1:15:32 I like the demon the most but you're right about him attacking at the wrong time, the bats are my other main. Side note: the wolf and bat transformations are interchangeable for me, I'm comfortable with the circular motion, and really all of the spellcasting, on the Dpad.
I know it’s a few years late but if you hold diagonal down while attacking while you’re bare handed or have knuckles equipped you will do a cool kicking move. Useful for hitting lamps on the go.
Somehow I love this game's loot system, No darn idea why but hey least that helps me keep me interested in this game cause of drop chances/ect. Either way nice run me guy.
1:43:16 now that it's been several years since you've played this i would enjoy watching you do a 200% playthrough of this game. This is right around the time you've gone through the trouble of giving us RE4: Remake content so maybe this could be added to your to-do list.
Dracula exclaims in shock that his defeat cannot be. *insert flashback to every time he's been destroyed in the past* Yeah no, I didn't think it would be possible to defeat him.
I said it in a way like.. Hey!! Take it easy.. Trying to be funny myself.. Love you man can't wait to see you're hideki kamiya re2 vid.. I envied you In a good way .. Best of luck bro ;)
I usually dislike commented walk/playthroughs. But yours are great with good explanation. You take requests? Would love to see a proper Koudelka walkthrough.
Video's like this inspire me. I saw a link through my life ln gaming to check this out. I might not be able to post videos to the details I want as I lack software, but I can at least post some clips from my ps4. It's a start but it's something. I will watch this bit by bit.
romscout came into my twitch channel while i was commentating it. but i don’t wanna act like i’m teaching him something new. the man can literally beat this game blindfolded, which kicks the shit out of any challenge i can do for this game
This sword is very powerful once you collect 2 Rings of Varda. I own the PS4 version of this game. I had to finish this game in order to get these two rings. You have to defeat a enemy called Paranthropus. You can find one on the bottom floor of the coliseum and three above the room where you fought the Creature, a frankenstein looking boss in the inverted castle. This enemy with drop gauntlets at first. Keep defeating it until it drops the Ring of Varda. Have a great day!! 😎👍🎮🏆
23:05 up, quarter circle forward, attack. I remember after that input if you hold the up button I think, it would turn the 3 fireballs into two of something else. What I'm trippin on right now is how did you cancel the attack animation altogether?? It looked like you were pressing down.
31:25 I lucked out one playthrough and got the Medusa shield on a drop this early in the game one time and that shield carried me SO FAR with the shield rod, it can be broken sometimes lol
The 100% of the game is when you have 200.6% of the game right? With the map, bosses, and relics (beastiary too or not?). Or i need to have al items too? Its soo confusing, i'm playing SOTN for the first time and i wanna do a 100 porcent, can someome explain it to me please?
true 100% would be all map fragments and all items, but it’s up to you; i just did enough to get every key item should someone attempt the rest themselves. i felt getting 200.6 was really superfluous for the purpose of this video even though some people were mad about it.
Take a shot everytime he says Invincibility and frames in this video. 😂 This run been tremendously badass to watch! some parts in the Inverted Castle must be hard to do in order to do a perfect no damage run.
23:46 I think this is one of those videos where I'm going to speak too soon and should have just waited 20 seconds before commenting. This should be fun, and good for the algorithm right? Time stamped comments every 2 minutes 😂
2:49:08 you would think this boss wouldn't be affected by the fart cloud, but you'd be wrong. This is why you should never drink four loko and eat taco bell afterwards.
All the Metroidvaniavanias are great. Circle of the Moon and Harmony of Despair are slightly below in quality imho but the rest are ridiculously good. I wish Konami'd make a new one but but Konami became Dracula. Bloodstained seems cool but I don't like the visuals.
2:26:13 roll credits, Alucard's shield with shield rod is the most powerful item in the history of video games, Link WISHES the Tri Force was this powerful 😂
Carci can you give any tip on spells? Currently playing PS4 version with GOD AWFUL voice overs (they redid them...for some reason) and casting speels is major pain in the ass, do i Use stick or d-pad? fast or slow? pleaaase this game is heavily relies on magic cast and i`m lost =(
There's some vampire lore that my correspond to why water hurts Alucard. Some legends say they can't cross running water and would sink while being rendered immobile forever. They could however cross it if inside a coffin full of dirt from their homeland.
@@Chairman7w I wouldn't wait. It's not going anywhere. They are different games and I can almost promise you you'll enjoy SotN after as well. Might as well play the new game while the hype is still going.
@@CarcinogenSDA I'm only an hour in and watching in segments, but don't recall that being said. In that case, how did you get such a sharp picture off the PS2?
I love this game, but doing a randomiser run killed it for me, as it's basically farm the same thing til the Crissaegrim drops, then blow through the rest of the game
(haven't finished watching yet so i dunno if you explain it in the video but) why do you pick up max hp upgrades if you're doing a no damage run? does max hp factor in something else?
routing out 200.6% map is fucking boring, so i went with a modified version of the ABRSR speedrun category. just settle for all relics, upgrades, and bosses pls, that’s all the actual content in this game. i’m not spending 4 hours grinding ultra rare drops and clearing map sections that may or may not have shit in em. that’s up to the viewer’s discretion.
Ah yes. Alucards spells. Super easy as a fighting game fan. Love spamming soul steal as soon as I can. Not great for your mp, but super cool to do anyways. Actually what I love to spam for no reason is the skeleton summons from the sword of dawn.
When ever I play a castlevania game especially the newer ones I always think why the hell does Dracula need a castle this fucking huge. because video games
It takes a big space to house all the beasts and demons wandering around the castle. Also, this is just the way I see it but I feel like the castle is like its own city with a working social system. We have seen glimpses of areas dedicated to digging into the questionable sides of science, torture chambers possibly for captured humans or raging demons, colosseums holding duels for entertainment purposes, ballrooms crowded with dancing ghosts, cathedrals worshiping evil deities, libraries full of information of the occult, alchemy stations, etc. Bear in mind that they usually mention The Lord of the Castle, which could be anyone that takes over the castle and gains power over all the minions that live in it. We have also seen some of the demons with bigger roles in the castle like Death and some secondary characters like the Master Librarian that show that the minions do their own thing in the castle. So, the castle holds the whole army of any given Lord, and the major loyal demons will attempt to resurrect Dracula if possible, even when another Lord shows up.
Man, the closest experience to Symphony Of The Night I got was in Castlevania: Mirror Of Fate where you play as Simon, Alucard and Trevor. I know the game isn't THAT good but I'm not from the Ps1 Era so.. Yeah
