Well executed, This thick and thin casual letter has nice feel to it. I like how John starts his C,G,O He gets nice round counters, not pointy ones. Interesting how he slides the brush sideways and back for the horizontal stroke of the E and F.

Support for the painting hand when you can't rest your hand on the surface.

It's a mahl stick, typically a wooden dowel with a rubber or leather tip. They are used to rest your brush hand on when painting.... However a drumstick would work in a pinch 😁

Yes thanks. I have a problem...Im ex forces amputee...cant use the drumstick! ooops. :) Glad I got the answer though. Ill keep at it even though I suck and will expect to work hard for about 3 years to become...reasonable. Great help for my PTSD though, I get into a healthy zone.

WE ALL START OUT LIKE THAT MY NORMAL HANDWRITING STILL LOOKS LIKE CHICKEN SCRATCH BUT SEE IF ANY OF US ARE JUST A BIT INTO IT WE CAN DO IT I MIGHT SOUND VERY OPTIMISTIC AND MY WORDS MAY BE GENERIC BUT JUST TRY AND YOU WILL HAVE AT LEAST SOME AMOUNT OF PROGRESS YOU MIGHT NOT BECOME THE BEST AT IT BUT AT LEAST AT THE LEAST YOU WILL HAVE THE SATISFACTION OF LEARNING SOMETHING NEW AND PARTAKING IN THE BEAUTIFUL TRADITION OF #CALLIGRAPHY .
