A possible solution to the Kibbe Body Typing ‘Soft Dramatic’ casual dressing dilemma! INSTAGRAM: @truegritcouture MUSIC: @AlesaLajana featuring Luke Moller on mandolin/fiddle
As a fellow SD I acknowledge how overwhelming it can be to dress to our best especially in casual attires. Thank you for the tips. Looking forward to more ideas. PS your ranch looks like a haven so lovely 💗
I was so happy to see your video pop up in my feed! I’ve missed you! As a classic body type, I totally get struggling with how to do casual. For me, even my casual needs to be elevated. I really love your spin on casual and watching your style evolution has been so fun! The button down and denim skirt-- gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous on you! You constantly inspire me to take risks in my own style and celebrate the body I’ve been given. ❤️
Love your casual ideas! Great video! I'm (42F) a soft dramatic that lives off grid in Alaska, so I feel the same need for casual and functional clothes as you do. I recently installed an AI art app and have been giving it verbal prompts like "Kibbe soft dramatic woman in a western outfit" and have gotten some really great ideas. There definitely seems to be some 70s western princess essence to all of them. Some tight through the thigh flare jeans, big western neck bows on soft draped button up shirts... I love it!
Wow, off grid in Alaska sounds like an amazing life! It’s definitely on my bucket list of places to visit one day. I’d love to go riding with some sled dogs. Thank you for watching, and I’m happy you enjoyed 🤗💐 My western work outfit has been a bit of a challenge for me to blend with the SD recommendations. So many practical considerations, but I do have a ‘work in progress’ version of it in my latest video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uB_QsWD9TmU.html
Aww you’re so lovely! Thank you for the encouraging words. The SD outdoor workwear ensemble is definitely a tricky assignment, but it’s slowly getting there Xx
A tip from a fellow SD who is SO obsessed with finding/making clothing that really suits our body type: the next time you make yourself a skirt, maybe consider making the bottom hem asymmetrical. It’s the best shape for the bottom of a skirt for an SD, it just flows better with our shape than a straight bottom
Asymmetrical hems are not part of the Soft Dramatic recommendations but more for Soft Naturals, Soft Classics, Soft Gamines, Flamboyant Naturals, Theatrical Romantics and Romantics. Some Soft Dramatics recommendations according to Kibbe: Soft Dramatic Skirts: Skirts should be straight, long (mid calf) and draped. Short skirts (knee length) may be paired with a long jacket, sweater or top. Detail should be elongated (shirring, soft folds and slits) Avoid: Full skirts except on certain dresses (see dress category). Wide, unconstructed skirts. A-lines and sharp pleats. Overly fussy and fitted skirts with delicate detail (gathers, tucks, etc.; plackets, etc.)
I would love to see a hair tutorial. I adore this look. I’m a SD but I have a very natural essence / style and I’m always trying to find ways to honour both. Your hair was the first thing I noticed. Stunning!
Thank you so much Breanna 💕 Very sweet of you to say! Wrangling my hair is always a challenge for me 😂 so I appreciate the compliment. I’m much the same as you in regards to my essence. Perhaps this video might provide some hair inspiration? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lpxCKt4_jgs.htmlfeature=shared
I'm so happy you left that first bit in!!! gave me a much needed chuckle to see you giggle over it! I'm loving your look these days, my 70's princess! And 'frumped-down' is my new favourite saying!
So lovely to see you in my feed. Ooooh, loving the Hermes scarf - it is a beauty. Really like the button down blouse you are wearing. For my style and body I really love button down tops and a skirt - fits any situation and it can so easily be casual or dressed up a notch. Thanks for sharing all your new goodies and looking forward to more videos 🦋
Aww you beautiful inspiring soul, so happy to watch your video I have missed you much. Lily was very excited to watch you with mama again 💕 This could be my new favourite video of yours 🌸😊 you are so special & its always a good day when the world gets to hear your happy, kind, sweet laugh.
Hello you beautiful lady!! I’m so grateful to have your own inspiring soul stopping by on my humble channel 💕 Makes me very happy knowing you and Lily are watching. Thank you for all the love Xx
Oh my god how you have made my week by seeing your videos again! i loved this video so much as a Soft dramatic soft season thats also in Australia, in the Gold coast i couldn't stop smiling throughout the WHOLE video i felt so connected to you and like you are a friend i haven't met ! I ADORE your horse outfit you look stunning and your 70s cowgirl princess look so great and wow what a tip with the blouse with rolled up sleeves inspo and analyse of Sophie Loren! i definitely can relate to the heat and humidity and how HARD it is to wear casual looks as a SD without looking fumpy! i love the pencil denim skirt with a flare idea and i have been looking so much for something like this already 😄 you remind me SO much of Adele who is a soft dramatic soft autumn colour season and which is just like you and with this hair you are 100% channelling her and IM here for it! omg i cant believe it but i also brought the kat von D tattoo liner in brown as i suspect I'm a Soft autumn, or soft season and how good is it! i need sunglasses like that and to have a cute sexy horse riding outfit ! i use to horse ride as a kid and now i want to again just for the looks 🤩🤣 I hope you share your hair tutorial i would love that and maybe some sewing tips for beginners as i need to make some SD staples that i cant find! thank you so much for sharing this video i loved it so much your so sweet and funny! ill definitely be sharing this video to the reddit SD page and they will love you just as much as me and would love your videos too! Xx
That’s so amazing, Eleana! 🤗💕 What a beautiful comment 💐 Thank you so much for sharing these lovely sentiments. I’m really happy to hear you have enjoyed everything, and I love how many similarities we have! Very cool indeed Xx
So happy to see you're back! Loved the outfit and update, all so lovely! (and the Olaplex hair oil is divine. I use it all the time on my super curly hair!)
Hello Roxane, it’s so wonderful to hear from you 🤗💐 Thank you for the lovely words! I only just started using the oil but already I like it very much Xx
I LOVE your style, your laugh, glad you are posting again. I’m SD, long red hair-can you give style # for the Chloe sunglasses??!! They are dynamite on you!!
Hello! Long time no see. I'm so happy you are back! Congratulations to you. Your creativity is increasing with each video. :) You have a very nice face and neck, without any wrinkles or irregular lines. You know how it is said that the neck is a woman's best friend, because only the neck reveals the right age, and you are so youthful. I would say it has to do with yourbeauty coming from within. Can you make a video about your neck care? Many ladies would be happy to look like you. :)
Hi Ben, lovely to see you here again and thank you for the sweet compliment 🤗💐 I’ve never heard that one before about the neck being a woman’s best friend, but I sure am glad I have one to keep a head on my shoulders 😂
Oh I hope not so long again! 🤭 So wonderful to see you again. You've been sorely missed! When I received notification that you had uploaded I was excited like a child on xmas morning. I'm a serious fan girl for you 🥰 well...maybe not QUITE a girl 😂 I loved all your self-gifts! I bought a "teasing brush" ironically from Kent in England about a year ago. Truthfully I've never used it for a good tease but you've inspired me! I absolutely LOVED your denim skirt. I was inspired. This year my sewing roster line-up is UPF clothing. Again I was struck as I always am by how much we seem to move on the same wave lengths. I have this thought to make knit skirts (similar design as yours but in knit) with long sleeve, flowy knit cropped tops to match. And flowy slip dresses to wear over top of long sleeve UPF tees. That's the plan for the summer anyway. I agree with you that us SD need to find ways to express our BIG DOLL beauty. I've been struggling to reprogram my body (studying Eric Franklin's work on imagery and exercises) because after decades to rounding my shoulders my "wings" have become rather problematic 👼 SD's somehow get messages to not be so imposing, so MUCH that we shrink into ourselves to not be so out there. And I've been doing yoga for 50 years, pilates for 15. It's not lack of exercise.
Aww Kathleen it is so lovey to hear from you! 💕 Thank you for this beautiful comment - put a big smile on my face. Sounds like you have some really fun projects on the go, and I totally agree about how much the mind/spirit/soul can affect the way we carry ourselves in our bodies. A very powerful interconnected dynamic for sure Xx
OMG this skirt is litteraly PERFECT ! Do you know where i could find a pattern or tutorial at least for the pencil skirt you used as a base ? I seem to only find super formfitting skirts made for stretch fabrics patterns.
Thank you so much Lou! 💕 So happy you like it. As for the pattern, I was very lucky because my friend who is a seamstress helped me, but perhaps you could find a pencil skirt pattern in a fabric store? RU-vid would likely have some tutorials on how to sew it. I hope that helps! Xx
Super cute skirt! I really relate to your casual dilemma. I have a hard to dress body, and most casual clothing doesn’t work for me. Jeans are almost a NO. My shape is a pear, plus I’m short and I have small bones. A triple challenge. My body type, I think is theatrical romantic and I’m trying that out….but still…there just seems to be no true casual for me.
I know your video was posted a year ago but still wanna say you are absolutely lovely 🥰 I’m a soft dramatic too 5’10 “ tall and it’s hard for me to find jeans too, they are so uncomfortable because usually the rise isn’t high enough to cover my curves and if I do find some jeans with a higher rise and for round hips and butt then they are too short in length for me😂 if anyone on here has a brand please share!
Oh, so nice you are back, I really enjoy your videos 😊 your style journey inspires me every time to look further into mine. May I ask where you got your hoop earrings from?
Yes...what do you wear to the barn? I've seem to only come up with flare jeans and soft t-shirt, maybe Stickyseat pants, and of course, all made up, but my horse doesn't care. 😄 I was also consulted with Merriam/Artistic License, SD and Warm Delicate. One question, what brand and color of lipstick are you wearing in this delightful video? I have red hair, and have been looking for a color exactly like that.
Lovely to meet a fellow SD W&D! 💐 Thank you for watching. I’ll get around to a barn looks video at some point. Kjaer Weis and Huda Beauty are the lip brands in this video. I also have a video on all my fav makeup products here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4x20gUr5Ezo.html with everything written in the description Hope that helps Xx
also, you're so right!.. once I discovered the concept of being Soft Dramatic I became obsessed because I realized why I had so much trouble my whole life with getting dressed - esp in casual scenarios. I would have actual emotional breakdowns thinking my body was the problem, until I discovered all these other women having the same exact struggles. It was so eye opening and comforting.
I’m also feeling very comforted just by reading this! 😂 We must all have residual trauma from trying to get ready for casual events. But yes, now we know! Thanks so much for your lovely comment 🤗💐💕
I have done so many experiments with various lines over the years, even after getting typed by someone, and I look pretty bad in soft natural clothes, and feel even worse 💐
