Please talk more about your statement that the more mature a woman gets, the more elegant she gets. Would love to see a video on kibbe types and the mature woman.
@AngryTheatreMaker
@AngryTheatreMaker 10 месяцев назад
Yes! I'd love a video on this myself. My own working theory is that with maturity comes more self-knowledge, thus more certainty on what effect or effects one would want to create. The complex add-ons fall by the wayside, there is a firm sense of the things that look good, etc., etc. Which is why women of a certain age often look fabulous.

Aly, I am going to start recommending your videos to young women who are struggling to find their style and dress for their body shape. Thank you!

I actually think Sweatshirts can look really nice on SD as long as the pants match(if Sofia Vergara wore a matching sweatpant with that sweater in the example-she would’ve looked soo good)that’s why I love Sweat Sets-because it keeps the continuity going that is so desperately needed for SDs instead of mix&match
@PrinceDuCiel7
@PrinceDuCiel7 9 месяцев назад
100% this! I instantly thought about my workout wear and my favourites are always matching. I look longer and leaner, minimal layering. I have the same proportions as Sofia and I KNEW all the colours and layering were her downfall.

YES! SOFT DRAMATIC ADVICE! Thank you! It's so hard not to look bulky in autumn. I would add: super short clingy sweaters look good because it allows for your bottom piece to highlight your vertical. Haha I just bought the coat showed at 13:25 to the left. Can't wait to shine as an SD in it!

I have found that button down/flowy dresses with matching material belts, I undo one end of belt and insert a long elastic band almost the same width. Gives me a nice waistline so belt won't fold and disappear. Basically reinforcing the belt. Game changer.

I wear a lot of cropped jumpers (sweaters to americans), but i wear elongated top underneath it in the same colour! That way the line looks long but the cropped jumper allows for the waist to be seen as smaller, and i love it :D

I was thinking about getting crop tops to wear with dresses as an modern version of an empire waist. I also like to wear long (thigh length) tops over skirts and belt around the hips as a modern version of a dropped waist.

Athletic wear is definitely tricky for SD. I go for a clasic unisex t-shirt in a size that fits my shoulders neatly is clingy round the bust, softly draped through the waist and longer so hits the hip. A zip up hooded jacket hip length with a fit thats not wide I usually zip it halfway and really fold out the hood to give a wide v at the neck. Then full length leggings, usually I look for a design that gives some elongation to the leg. Everything monochromatic for extra lengthening.
@tula1433
@tula1433 4 месяца назад
SD here that’s so wild you said you fold out the hood of your athletic hoodies as I do the same and I thought I was the only one in the world who would even think to do that! Team SD!

HEAVY disagree on the cropped tops not working. If you’re a pear shaped SD, they can ad balance to the curves. I just pair them with a high waisted long skirt or loose fit pant. Usually in the same colour. You keep the vertical while honouring the width. The thing with being tall is most crops are Well above your waist line so you end up showing the curve of your waist that way. My favourite crop outfits, A black velvet boxy cropped tshirt, that is thin and drapes. With a black layered Aline netted skirt that goes to my ankles. I ad in black wedge sandals with laces. The other is a velour hooded track suit. Black velvet. With stripes down the arms and legs. Cinched in top and ankles but not tight everywhere else. The ankles aren’t the best on it, probably be better with a flared or boot cut bottom but I just make sure my socks and shoes are black to blend. It’s my go to for travel and chores since it’s stylish but COMPHY And I look fantastic in it. Can’t go wrong. Also amused at the No Bulky Shoes! I feel like small thin delicate shoes look awful on me. Maybe cuz my hands and feet are small for my height. People are always shocked their hands are bigger than mine. Even my 5’4” coworker to my 5’11” has bigger hands. So the bulkier heavy shoes stop me from looking like I’m about to tip over or have little pig feet.

This was really helpful! A Perfecto jacket and chunky boots worked for me when I was younger and much skinnier. Nowadays, with 15kg more and more curves, I have had difficulty dressing myself. It has impacted my self-confidence greatly. Since I have found your videos on soft dramatics, I've understood my body better and am currently adding to my wardrobe little by little! :D

This specific series has helped me so so much!! All of your videos have but these have changed my life! I've always dreaded sweater weather because they always look so horrible on me... and layering is even more of a nightmare. Is it possible to sort of be in between soft dramatic & flamboyant natural? I really feel like I am in between the two 🫠... or maybe I am leaning towards a soft dramatic body type but have more natural essence. 🤔 I am 5'10, 155lbs, not super busty but not small either... my waist is significantly smaller than my shoulders & hips. Hips & shoulders measure about equal. Not that that's is particularly relevant in this system. I do have some width in my shoulders/chest so I can handle a fair amount in regards to oversized coats and sweaters but it's super dependent on the material and cut/style, especially with sweaters. Must of the suggestions for flamboyant naturals make me look very square & heavy /floppy, But I love the movement and comfort of oversized clothes. Most of the suggestions for soft dramatic really extenuate my curves and my body looks amazing & so polished but my personal vibe is much more laid back & low maintenance... or maybe more "masculine" than how a lot of the SD suggestions feel on.

I think there is - I also struggle with deciding between soft dramatic and flamboyant natural.

This was so good! After watching several videos, it seems I am a mixture... Soft Dramatic Classic. I am 5' feet, 8" inches and 145 pounds, fairly busty, though well-proportioned, strong bone structure with some fleshy roundness, medium almond-shaped eyes and average lips.

Back in the early 1980s I had a very dramatic cardigan. I've never seen one like it again. It was sort of 1940s in feel. It had a large "cuff" at the bottom that buttoned up with pearl buttons, so there was waist emphasis. It was a fairly thin, but not to thin, of a knit. The sleeves were somewhat puffed so they grazed over my arms and they also had a nice cuff to band my wrists. It was long enough that that were the bottom cuff ended was about the height of my waist so that the cardigan bloused out a bit from there. It was soft, glamourous and teal with matching pearlized buttons. I miss it still! On the subject of jackets, it used to be almost impossible for me to find a woman's jacket because if they fit my body they did not fit my shoulders and vice versa; and, they were almost always too short. I would go to the thrift store and buy men's suit jackets, jean jackets, etc. They would fit my shoulder and because they were made for a man the body would be smaller and sort of glide over my torso without being too tight or too wide, and because men are generally taller than women, they would usually be around mid thigh in length. It's harder to do with metro-sexual wear, though.

Thank you for these videos. I think Soft Dramatics have way more range though. I find they're one of the types that gets a lot of leeway when it comes to clothes. I 9ften borrow from them because I'm 5'3.75", inverted triangle and crazily enough, likely a Romantic though contemplating SN. The reason I can confidently say I'm not a SD is that I look terrible in all long lines and coats are hard to shop because of this, I need a short torso. People also also tell me I more or less look like a sheep in wolf's clothing when I embrace the full SD dynamic, as in it's too heavy, ornate and just severe. I look cartoony and frequently told as such, more Betty Boop less Jessica Rabbit. Things that make SD look majestic and chic like longer lines are visibly overpowering despite my having the wide shoulders, fat arms and big wide feet (size 10). I thought SN would be better as I look more womanly adopting a slightly tomboyish look, less details but need details on the bottoms because my lowered hips really stick out compared to my boobs and waist. My abnormally small waist is the respite, I look like I have a corset on BUT I don't need waist emphasis hence why I think SN might be on the money for me. Thank you for your work as always.

If you are a soft dramatic and a pear shape, some of the suggestions are diametrically opposed to each other. I have the same problem when trying to combine my dark autumn coloring with some of the suggestions for soft dramatic colors as well.
@edennis8578
@edennis8578 10 месяцев назад
I think you can use your dark autumn palette to great effect. Remember, Soft Dramatic is Dramatic first, with softened contours. It doesn't mean that the colors must be softened. As for being pear-shaped, I'm a Soft Dramatic with bigger hips, especially when I can't get enough walking into my life. Walking is the only thing that keeps my hip size down. Try the fool-the-eye techniques, like a darker bottom than your top is, or a snug bottom and looser or thicker top. For example, snug jeans and a fluffy wool sweater. Or same jeans, but a draped velvet top. Do a search in the internet for Soft Dramatic looks and you'll see a lot of ideas. I like brown jeans with a camel top, or camel pants with a cable-knit ivory sweater. If you make sure that your bottoms are at least slightly darker than your tops, you'll look more in proportion. A bottom that is less bulky than your top will do the same thing.
@Cekatu
@Cekatu 9 месяцев назад
Renee, I understand what you mean. For example pears need lots of waist emphasis, not just slight......also longer jackets and coats are a pear shape's no no. As it creates a boxy appearance. I certainly share your struggle, but I break the rules depending on the situation.

Fwiw I’ve always thought of SDs as tall romantics (probably tall TRs) because we often have that same hourglass shape (basically double curve but more elongated bc of our height.) It probably depends a bit on the individual though.

As a plus-size SD, I just wanted to say that it’s hard enough to find things in my size at all, so the advice to size up for more room isn’t super helpful, although I understand the concept. It would be nice, but it’s just not possible, generally.
