Why did the BBC ever mess with this? They did the same with EastEnders. I don't watch either now anyway but just the beginning of this is genius with the build-up sounding like sirens and the background of air being pumped into someone, just leave it alone.
Could not agree more they did have to change the EastEnders theme tune though they couldn’t keep the original 80s theme. It was too outdated by the mid 90s the 1993 theme tune which was a jazz theme. Got so much criticism by the general public and the newspapers that it had to be replaced after one year it got replaced with the 1994 version of the theme tune which lasted until 2009, but by 2000, it was shortened down in the ending credits for being too long according to the BBC so they added an extra version of the end and credits which was used on the omnibus version of the show they also updated the theme digitally from 2009 until 2022 when the theme tune was updated yet again, it does sound slightly different in the background. Overall, I think the 1994 to 2009 version of the theme tune of EastEnders was so much more dramatic and so much better, especially the extended credits. As for casualty I think the original theme tune which ran from 1986 until 2001 has to be the best theme tune. It was so much more dramatic. The saddest thing was the shortened the original theme tune by the early 2000 and completely ruined it, especially the shorten down version of the intro which was just plain awful. The original version from 1995 to 1998 has to be the best, especially the version with the broken glass piecing back together at the ending credits to spell out casualty so much more dramatic. I do think casualty has been adapted to be more of a soap drama in 2023 rather than and medical drama like it was in the 80s and 90s. The theme tune for casualty today is playing awful and in my opinion doesn’t really fit with the casualty scenario, so glad I’m from a generation with television was actually good and worth watching and we can remember good things like the original theme tune for EastEnders and casualty especially when the ambulance drives often into the distance, and then turn left
Yeah my man even invented the synthesiser for this (also used by many British artists). It is a masterpiece. The first half has the right pace which conveys a sense of urgency - exactly what is required for a medical drama. I'm not even a fan of casualty, but this theme tune is exquisitely outstanding. It sets the stage for a fantastic show.
People say that they hate the newer themes. Personally, I like how they keep the themes fresh and modern. I don’t think this theme fits in with modern shows. That is NOT saying it’s a bad theme. This theme itself is way ahead of its time and is still a bop.
You don’t tamper with a classic end of story. Even the show was turned into a soap at the turn of the century. I stopped watching after Charley lost Baz when she died from her injuries in a car accident.
@@jane1975 It's been a couple of years since I also stopped watching Casualty. To me, it lost it's realism, turned more into a soap, and also more recently Charlie has left - so It just isn't the Casualty which most avid fans (who have watched since day one) have known
The composer Ken Freeman invented the string synthesizer that has been used by the likes of Jean-Michel Jarre and many many others including Roxy Music
I think Casualty & The Tripods have the style of 70s instrumentals such as Oxygene, Tubular Bells & War of the Worlds. Some of the Tripods soundtrack could be re-used for a Casualty / Holby spin-off centred on its Hitchcock psychiatric ward; this would call for a darker, more sinister tone...
@@CryOfTheCelts2 they have the first ever 3 series of casualty on dvd but does it come with subtitles because I've been low in hearing in my left ear since i had a ear operation at 10 years old
@@peterwilliamskelhorn6675 I am not 100 per cent sure about the subtitles, but expect the DVD's will come with them, as it is usually standard for most DVD's
