Yeah I remember watching that as a teenager when it came out. I was at the edge of my seat! 😲

Yes that was pure WW II with Sisko making a MacArthur-like "I Shall Return" speech to DS9's inhabitants before he beams out to the Defiant. Jadzia telling Worf she will marry him just before they separate to go on different ships. And when O'Brien asks Sisko what they will do when they join up with the Federation Fleet, it is Nog who growls, "make them (the Dominion) wish they never set foot in the Alpha Quadrant!" The whole Dominion War was a fine salute to the Allied peoples and soldiers of WW II.

@@davidallbaugh6858 Here is the thing, the Dominion War was like a World War, except in space, and it is similar to a galactic war. Plus, the factions that participated were the main and largest factions.

TNG's characters were not that perfect either. The Borg taught the Federation and Picard a thing or two (see Family episode). Seasons 6 and 7 showed the complications with the Maquis and the Cardassians. The Wounded episode also showed a Federation crew going vengeance mode. Let's not forget the Drumhead episode or the Pegasus either. There are also many examples...

Defiant, just like the ship they are the crew of. Great ending to an episode about the beginning of the Great Dominion War.

The wording is so very specific: she 'must' protest (not because she wants to, but because it's protocol)...and once she's got that done, she doesn't care what the Provisional Government has to say.

The back and forth between Weyoun and Dukat shows the difference between the overall Commander of the Dominion War effort, Weyoun, with the confidence in his plans and that of the tactical battlefield commander, Dukat, who knows that things in war seldom go as planned.
