On point!!! It's high time they start making it a more standardized test. This video needs to go viral, and IIM Indore paper setters need to watch this.
INDORE should not be allowed to conduct CAT ever everytime they conduct cat they just mess it up...worst IIM institute for conducting CAT and the fact that they are one of the best management institute in the country makes it even more shameful.... They never learn instead they degrade!
Even elephant passage. And options were themselves tough to comprehend, it was like para summary and most questions in double negatives. And people saying slot 1 was easiest, my foot, we were panicking the most, seeing those 400-500 word passages just made me numb, that too 4 of them. I lost first 5-6 mins just trying to mark the rc question numbers. Just wasn't mentally prepared for the surprise. Other slots will have lower cut off now for dilr, and our varc is already ruined. we will suffer the most. :)
Most satisfying video on the internet for me!!! Only mentors like Gejo, Patrick and Rajesh (2IIM) had the guts to call out the difficulty level of CAT2020. It boils my blood when so called 'mentors' label the exam as easy or doable based on reviews of few students. Those who didn't give the exam but say oh Slot 3 was doable, VARC was easy! It's not that the questions weren't doable. It was the whole idea of putting students under tremendous pressure in the exam, specially the first batch of students dealing with reduced time limit, that was ridiculous and so aspirant unfriendly. Some people have a lot banking on these exams, please make them a little more thoughtfully. Thanks for this rant Gejo. You genuinely understand students. ❤️
True astha.... there is a difference between sitting and saying varc is doable and sitting there in exam pressure under 40 mins and looking to crack cat and thinking it as the only chance.... Adds lots and lots of pressure
Even Rajesh B mentioned that he went blank on all the 5 sets of LRDI of slot 3. But so called mentors from gradeup and unacademy say that this year's paper was easy... This year's paper was a lot more than horrible.
@@chaitanyathyagi7360 totally agree - Rajesh is a 100%iler and I have seen him giving live CL mocks, he is damn good! All those farzi mentors either have too big an ego to admit it was tough, or probably didn't even sit for the exam themselves.
We grinded through tough mocks expecting cat to be considerate and come up with a slightly less difficult paper or atleast one of 2019's standards. However,it seems like they conducted the exam just to break us down..shameful on iim indore's part this..especially in such testing times
@@makarandborse2915 I was slot 2. I'll tell my perspective: VARC: 4 RCs with 2 having less readability 1 easy but all questions were inference based. It was undoubtedly lengthy. LRDI: Mines everywhere. No sitter sets or freebie questions. 1st half guys had 1 easy arrangement and 1 familiar 4 set venn diagram but no such luck for slot 2. Also the supposedly easy 'parking lot' set had 2-3 tricky questions. No recovery time after picking a wrong set. QA: Cascading effect after a horrible DILR. A lot of maximize/minimize and no.of solution questions sprinkled in. Only positives were the doable VA portion and an easy arithmetic section.
No one is really at loss except for people like me who were never good at academics average achievers wanted to prove something from this paper and again failed miserably 😔
My computer screen kept freezing throughout the paper! my mouse was dysfunctional even though i had checked it before the exam. Never expected CAT to disappoint us like this!
I believe that is not their problem! As a student we have to mentally prepare ourselves for such kind of experience. It is up to you and I to manage things! But I do believe the LOD of DILR definitely affects QA.
If it affected only a few people, that's not really their responsibility to cater to the few who got affected, it's on the students to keep their cool during the exam. If it did affect the QA score for most people on slot 3, the slot 3 people will have lower QA scores on average. So it will be normalised, no need to worry.
This really boost confidence. The problem with this education system is no criticism. Arey if the paper was not good atleast the cat mentors should come out and say that yes paper was not good, not good for average or poor students. I really liked when gijo said that my prediction went wrong atleast this much honesty is needed from the mentors. We prepare for full year to sit on this paper and still if this kind of paper will come i dont know what will happen. Atleast learn to value all kind of categories of students. Fake mentors on youtube making a special video on my prediction is accurate, what i predicted was all right. How will it help ? Just will give you some innocent students like us who will fall into the fake facts and pay the parents whole month salary. Thanks gejo for coming out and criticising what this time the authorities have not done good.
Iim Indore should stripped from conducting cat.. I am not commenting on difficulty level but the interface, glitches and server issues was total hell total bull shit...
@@nivi6414 hey...it was the problem for a lot of students in India across different cities.. One center can be bad not many.. So it's the responsibility of Iim Indore to ensure better interface and everything. If they are conducting the paper like cat Then it must be ensured that nothing of that sort happens with even a single guy.
UI vagere toh TCS ka problem hai na? TCS conducts (by conducts, i mean online test managing stuff) and not IIM. So structure, pattern, difficulty, time management --> IIM I UI, glitches--> TCS They both just SHAT on the students' head
@@chirag_cc bhai that I know par tum koi chiz gadbad hone pe organize jo kar rha hai usi ko pakdoge na... Ye Iim Indore ki zimmedari hai ki Sabko Sahi system provide kare.. Paisa liya tha 2000 phokat ka nai Kara rhe hain ye log... Wo Jane Tcs ko tackle Kare.. Hum logo sahi system Milna chahiye.. That's it
Point is gre will give 2 official mocks with same difficulty to test yourself But our India conducts IIT jee , cat but don't produce one noble prize but regard them as the toughest exams in world . Don't know what they want to achieve
I was in a pathetic situation, could not find 1 doable set, after 35 mins was able to solve only 2 questions, knew that this is not going to work out, so i just randomly marked 20 options in dilr . Anyways i was out of the race so why not try out my luck! Cat 2020 was an absolute disaster. (Slot 3)
I am a continuous 90+ percentiler in IMS VARC . I just scored 98% in VARC in one of the last SIMCATs . And here now I am expecting negatives in CAT VARC 😑.

Yes sir very true they have not managed at all , just forget everything , tell the paper setter to attempt the exam in the given time frame so that they can also have a glanced at the real picture , what the hell is going on , even options in the RC seems like we are attempting a para summary in reading those 4 options, this is distasteful by Indore 🙄
IIM indore thought we were machines that can process anything within seconds.. I don't understand the point of reducing time, reducing questions, and increasing complexity... Like what was going in their minds when they were setting the paper..
Normalization barely accounts for 2/3 marks! Whereas slot 1 vs slot 2 dilr was TOTALLY different! Almost a difference of 2 sets which could cost somebody 12- 24 marks EASILY!! It's so so unfair. I gave slot 2 .feeling bad for slot 2, slot 3 students who will not be able to clear dilr cutoffs just because slot one was made too easy! Why even fucking make a paper if you're doing it so horribly??!!
Gejo Sir.. U r just amazing.. I think u r the only one who showed empathy towards students.. Hats off.. I think IIM Indore didn't even set the paper for 2 hours.. They just removed some questions here and there from the initially set question paper that was meant for 3hrs.. DILR slot 3 was an absolute massacre.. And don't even get me started on VARC..
i have one query ... each year there are at least 2 full DI sets in LRDI section irrespective of difficulty.. it is DI LR section right ???? not just LR.... i dont know about other slots but there was no DI set in slot 2 all LR... make the paper as tough as yyou want.. but even in tough paper like mocks in cl ,time and ims.. there is always one doable set which is DI most of the times .... my whole set selection screwed up.. my hands were trembling.. and hence this affected me in quants.. otherwise quants atleast i could have attempted more... but the trauma from LRDI sorry sorry LR section passed on..they should have mentioned that this year there would be no DI section just LR ...because i dont know about other students but im kinda weak in LR ...so i rely on DI most of the times..as a reserve ki chalo 1 set ya 2 set to ban hi jana hain mera in max 20 - 30 minutes ..like slot 2 of 2019 cat ..the LRDI section wasnt easy but there were 2 doable sets the DI ones which were simple as fuck... i didn't understand the point of completely erasing the DI section and keeping it just LR
Even after practicing 500+ sets , previous year cat sets and taking 20mocks and 10 sectionals and scoring 30+. I was not able to solve a single set in slot 3. I was left with no hope and I ruined my quants because of that as well. Why u say it DILR when there was no DI as such. Someone who would have guessed answers in dilr slot 3 have high chances to score more than the one who actually tried to solve and couldn't get the answers.
exactly .. totally agree.. if they only want to prove the point that only iitians are suitable for management through premiere institutes..then what's the point of appearing for nation's biggest conducted management exam ...shame on IIM INDORE..They don't deserve hardworking people which is the basic essentiality for being a good Manager. Now they are going to produce fucking statisticians from there so called reputed institutes
Extremely disappointed. LRDI was so lengthy. It was more of a race to solve more and more. Sets were passages unto themselves. VARC was so abstract, most people dont have any idea about what they did in it. Didnt feel like it was a test of aptitude..especially if you couldnt have time to even look at all the questions.
IIM Indore were very clear before itself when they released their interview calls criteria with 34-40 for 10th and 12th, we should've realised that they'll set something like this
Long Post I am a candidate from slot 3 (evening) and have found huge discrepancies in the Verbal Ability Section of slot 3 which I would like to put forth you so that you could discuss them on the scheduled date. Here, are the following discrepancies: 1. Question Id: 48916813280 (Parajumble on Echolocation): According to official key, answer is 2431. But however, I think the answer should be 2341. I could not find the relevant source from which this extract had been picked from but the reason why I think 3 should precede 4 is that; in 3 author mentions the whole “Russian Matryoshka Dolls” and then in the 4th sentence he connects both exaptation concept with the Russian doll structure (here, author has simply laid both the terms forth in such a way that both have already been introduced earlier). I may be wrong here because I could not find the relevant source from which this paragraph has been taken. 2. Question Id: 48916812792 (Parasummary on Aesthetic Political Representation): Here, both option B and D are equally correct as there is hardly any difference between 'drawing from disinterestedness' and 'manifested through disinterestedness'. Source: Page 5 www.mids.ac.in/assets/doc/WP_159.pdf 3. Question Id 48916812842 (Odd Man Out on Machine Learning and Hate Speech): CAT has taken this excerpt from the following source (under the heading of Why AI Bias happens: www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2020/07/200707113229.htm As you look at the first paragraph of the source which I have attached above you will see that CAT has omitted the word 'BUT' before Machine Learning in their question. This breaks the chain of thought and thus makes both option 1 and 3 suitable to be present before the 4th sentence which speaks about some complex algorithm (without BUT we cannot infer which algorithm is the the sentence referring to: Machine Learning Models or Automatic Detection Models) 4. Question Id 48916813328 (Odd Man Out on Woman and Appearance): Source from which this has been taken: aeon.co/essays/whats-behind-the-urge-to-uncover-an-authentic-self Use Ctrl F to find the relevant paragraph for the question. Here also, CAT has removed a complete sentence which was preceding the sentence on 'denigration' thus breaking a logical chain of thought. Therefore, when solving the question using context (because parajumble strategy would fail here), you find all sentences to be related to Women appearances and external beauty, except the last sentence which is talking about the difference between women and feminity. I understand that VARC is a very subjective section, and hence answers are often very debatable. But I request you to kindly go through the objective analysis I have presented before all of you and think yourself, how the questions and options which have been framed are completely distorting the meaning and essence of the actual source passage. In the end, it literally boiled down to a candidate's luck of choosing either of the two correct answers. I am planning to raise objections but would sincerely appreciate your feedbacks in countering the logic I have put forward before doing the same.
When everyone thought that cat paper might be on easier side considering pattern change and corona ,IIM Indore does the opposite :D makes it more harder , contribute in making life harder in these hard times
Did you know? In it's admissions IIM Indore is having 74% weightage for CAT 2020 and 20 % weightage for CAT. This might be a reason for creating such tough paper as whatthey wanted were 99%ilers of ICSE and ISC Boards
I am a Arts graduate. BA(H) History. Slot 3 was extremely tough. And as my quantitative is already weak, DI & LR was a bloodbath. Totally disappointed.
As always Amazing Sir!!! I seriously dont understand why don't they hire their students who join Big Consulting companies to consult them on "HOW TO CONDUCT CAT?" May be the aspirants can fund it...
I myself solved CAT 2020 Slot 1 and Slot 2 Papers. In 1, I scored 87/228 (96%ile) and in slot 2, I scored 96/228 (99%ile). It evidently suggests that how difficulty level fluctuated drastically across sections. Especially, 1 set of 4 questions (Servants, Ratings and their Earnings) in Slot 1 was Nothing but FUN, A set that doesn't even qualify for a CAT LEVEL LRDI SET. 🤣
Bloody IIM Indore doesn't give much weightage to cat that's why they thought it's ok to make the test as difficult as possible and screw it for people like me with weak academic record 😑😑
I am a continuous 90+ percentiler in IMS VARC . I just scored 98% in VARC in one of the last SIMCATs . And here now I am expecting negatives in CAT VARC 😑.
@@nitinpatni5028 Bro i have scored 95%+ in last 7 aimcats with 4 rcs, everyone says aimcats are tough but rcs of 2020 were on completely different length and level, I am expecting single digits marks now, everything wasted it seems
@@pranavanshu1916 I am gonna solve the whole CAT VARC section once I get the paper and then I will decide whether it was my anxiety or lack of preparation that put me into that blacked out zone.
@@nitinpatni5028 Yes and what I feel that everyone saying quant easy was just because of nightmarish varc and dilr, quant was of 2018 level not easy not having more than 1-2 freebies.
Normalisation doesn't take into affect everything. If in slot 2/3 I spent 15 minutes on 1 question of DILR and still couldn't solve it, do you think I can solve the rest of the paper without that in my mind? It will affect my remaining questions.
