Years ago when i was 18 I started out operating a D400, my god what a punishment. They had self adjusting hydraulic rams for the body height. Anyway i eventually drove a 740 and still ruff as guts, they'll never make them things comfortable.
Hi Nathan, Pre COVID I organised a trip for our local Engineering Society to Cat, Peterlee in NE England that I understood was the sole manufacturing site for these articulated vehicles, is that true or did I mishear? Eyesight too bad to drive now but I appreciate all your content. Just watched a Squatch video and in yours and his there was an advertisement for ladies hair curling tongs. So you cant drive and dump. That very inefficient. you should be able to dump at 20 MPH so the piles are more easily spread by the tractor with a scraper box.
No spreading at high speeds in an articulated truck is unsafe and very easy to tip the machine. So they limit the speed that the machine will travel to prevent that from happening. I’ll tell you what’s not efficient, spreading out truck piles with a tractor and scraper box. You should be using a bulldozer or grader for the best efficiency.
Works great till it dont , all this electronic crap is steadily making people dumber and lazier , everything was great in the machine world when everything was mechanical
You can’t stop progress fella, everything evolves it has since the beginning of time. Adapt and move with it or get left behind. The problem is that contractors don’t take the time to train their people well enough to run the machine if the ease of use features crap out, that’s no fault of the equipment it’s the fault of the contractors and narrow minded people who blame the lack of good operators in the world on tech.
